Description
The Downeyflake brand is no longer around, alas, but they used to make substantial toaster waffles - much closer to homemade than Eggos.

Go here for a really cheesy Downyflake ad from 1980! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t01ZCuFrbc

I want to say that I even remember them being around in the early 90's. My mom bought these and they were the best. They really were the best frozen waffle, nothing compares today. It's crazy that a great product just ceases to exist like that but what can you do?

these always toasted up hard so my sister and i called them "hardy"flake waffles

It appears that Hungry Jack took over the Downyflake label in the mid 90's after nearly 50 years

I echo what others have said. They were the best and nothing on the market today compares. If they came back we would buy.

Like everyone has said, I grew up on Downeyflake waffles, and today's waffles taste like cardboard in comparison. I hope someday someone picks up the recipe and they are available again. If it happens, I will buy a freezer just for the waffles

Yes the Downeyflake waffles were amazing but the French toast was to die for! All these years later I still miss these two Downeyflake products terribly. Please bring them back!

I only remember the waffles and boy they were delicious!

Yep, they were the best, thin and crunchy on the outside. Today's waffles are too thick to make a sandwich with and they stay soft unless you burn them.

I don’t know what became of Fownyflake. It was, as I recall, made by Pillsbury. They still do frozen wafgles but not as good. Eggo was never that goid and always left me feeling like I was still hungry. Not so with the old Fownyflake brand.

I loved the blueberry waffles with butter and powdered sugar. An awesome memory! Please bring them back!

I'm sixty-six and I grew up eating Downeyflake waffles. I have often said that today's waffles are cardboard in comparison. I miss Downeyflake the most from my childhood. Please, someone bring them back

You youngsters probably don't remember Downeyflake French Toast. It was so good. Nothing compares.

I’ll add may name to the petition to bring back Downyflake waffles! When I was a kid, I thought these were just a “poor man’s Eggo”, because they were cheaper and my family was always broke. But now I realize that I had the best waffles money could buy!

I agree with all of the above. Miss those waffles in the bag!! The best! We were lucky kids in the 70s and 80s. (Well, we were lucky for lots of reasons)
