The best hot dogs ever!!

The best dogs ever! My Dad always had to buy two kinds of hot dogs; cheese stuffed for my sister, Frankenstuff for me. Dad ate both... not a picky eater, like most Dads. Everytime I'm in the store I look for them... wishful thinking, I guess.

I grew up on these Chili infused masterpieces, the best part was putting them in the microwave and biting into a warm hotdog only to lose half of your taste buds when the 10,000 degree chili hit your tongue, it was the best!!!

Loved these!!! Finally - chili dogs that were fairly neat! I miss these terribly, and am trying to recall who made them

I'm 99.9% positive that Hormel made these (with an outside shot that it was Armour), damn they were awesome.

These dogs were amazing! I saw above that one person still looks for them in the grocery store ...ME TOO! I really wish someone would bring these back to market. There's a whole new generation of kids that would love them!

I'm not the only one! I LOVED these, as all little obese kids did. Put it in the microwave for 30 seconds....Hot dog? Ice cold. Chili? Hot as the surface of the sun. Does anybody remember how they would explode in the microwave after about 60 seconds?

Mom would cringe after I heated up Frankenstuffs for all the boys after school!!! The mess in the micro was unbelievable!

Was Hormel for sure. I remember them blowing up..what a mess! But they were so good. I used to make Frankenstuff Hot Dogs after school, with a bag of Crunch Taters (barbeque)..now both are no longer obtainable. Followed by some chewy Bonkers Candy.

My all time favorite food was the chili frankenstuff. It pained me greatly to find this site and learn they haven't been made in years. Means I'm old and I can't get them! Argh!

Yes it was Hormel that made these, unfortunately they stopped making them because of cost and lack of market. Kids loved them, Mom's did not but eventually the cost was too large for their small appeal. I too remember the lava hot chili squishing out and incinerating my tongue. The were too expensive to buy I recall from regular hot dogs so I didn't get to eat them that often. Johnsonville makes a chili flavor cheese sausage now.

The best hot dog ever made!!!! My mom used to buy them when I was a kid. Never wanted to eat anything else ate home except Franken Stuff.
NightmareX - March 16, 2010 - Report this comment
This is the food I'm talking about, a kid knew and took the chance to eat one of these hot dogs. We didn't cry about it...there's no crying allowed when your eating a frankenstuff. Nowadays, this would be a class action lawsuit just waiting to happen...bunch o' wimps
BELLYBUTTONSTINK - March 30, 2010 - Report this comment
what don't you all write to hormel or armour and ask them to bring it back, if so many people demand it, they will......lets bring back the SALSA RIO DORITOS ALSO!!!! I LIVED THE 80'S.

best hot dogs ever! searched and searched years ago then gave up. Why do companys do this, give the people what they want! Also remember the taco light from taco bell with the light crunchy shell, it was anothr one of my favorites.
clyde taylor - November 18, 2010 - Report this comment
i have contacted hormel, and told them there are millions like us that want these hotdogs back, waiting for a response, it might be a good idea for everyone else to contack them to show them the public demand.
Dorkus - January 11, 2011 - Report this comment
I remember the commercials for these, with lightning and thunder. Electrical sparks bursting from within the hot dog, and the kind of 'scary' theme. Bring back Frankenstuffs! We need more goofy food like this in the store nowadays. It's all too serious!
frankenstuff - January 12, 2011 - Report this comment
use social media to prove that millions want them back. I only know of 9 that's on the frankenstuff page. I even tried making the frankenstuff page admin someone who waas slowly losing their mind to try to draw more people.

This week we're bringing '86 back by making our own handmade version of the Frankenstuff with chili and cheese. If you're in NYC come eat some nostalgia!

I remember these, but I was disgusted by them even as a child. Nasty, disgusting.
James - March 09, 2012 - Report this comment
I loved these dogs as a kid! You had to estimate the time to microwave so they wouldn't blow up, but MAN THEY WERE GOOD!!!!!!! Of course now I know they most likely had carcinogens galore in them, but 30 years ago I couldn't care less.
