I remember getting the frozen toes from the ice cream trucks that would drive through my neighborhood when I was growing up in El Paso,Texas in the early 80s! It wasn't the best tasting ice cream, but for some reason it was really popular with the kids in my neighborhood. About three years ago I was at a park and stopped an ice cream truck to see if they still sold em, but the driver had no idea what a frozen toe was.

frozen toes were the best! they did indeed have a gum ball for the toe nail. i think they've now been replaced with 'powder puff girls' and 'pink panthers'. all taking their essence from the 'frozen toe'
I love the big toe - March 02, 2009 - Report this comment

Hey, were these called Frozen toes or was it Funny Feet? I only ask because a frozen toe google search came up with nada & they came up under Funny Feet. I loved them though. We had some cool shaped pops back in the day.

I used to get them from the ice cram truck that would swing by the community pool. I thought they were more out a milky sherbet though. I could be wrong though. I remember the gumball was always off center and never perfectly placed where the toenail should be!

In the Netflix show, "Haters Back Off", the Miranda character ("Miranda Sings" person) eats one of these every day, apparently. It's an experience to see this process...!
