Description
I believe these came before fruit roll-ups and fruit snacks. They were a bar of jelled fruit, about .5 x 4 x 2 inches. I remember the commercial featuring Devo-esque characters, singing "Made from real fruit so your taste buds shout, look so ugly they're gonna knock you out!" The whole marketing campaign was based on the fact that the bars were in fact ugly, though tasty.

I used LIVE off these things. I loved them when I was a kid and carried a box around in my backpack for snacking.

Sunkist is making a Fruit bar that is very similar to Fruit Bars. I've seen them in the "Organic" section of Kroger and a couple of other places. They are near the natural fruit leathers and other products like that. Not as good as the original and alas no grape but as close as I've ever found.
