Whatever happened to these?? Now all I can find are those way to gelatin-like substance snacks at the store. Miss these terribly. Also loved fruit bars (with the "yogurt" swirled in) made by the same co.

i use to eat the entire box of these in one sitting at about age 8. id open all the packages and make a giant pile of wrinkles and put tons of them in my mouth like i was a Fruit Wrinkle King. what were the other things made by this company that were Fruit Bars. some were plain, some had swirl cream in them?
Cindy - July 22, 2008 - Report this comment
I would give my husband away for a box of fruit wrinkles. The rubber/wax/plastic fruit snacks of today are disgusting. Are they really gone forever?
Chaos - August 07, 2008 - Report this comment
The same product is at Kroger in the fruit snack area, and they are the same as the Fruit Wrinkle were. (just look for the Kroger version of them in the cheap box.) Taste the same and everything.

Fruit Wrinkles were the best fruit snacks ever. I loved them as a child growing up. My mom use to always pack them in my lunches for school. The fruit snacks that are sold in the stores today are disgusting. Does anyone know the name of the company that produced them? I would like to contact that company that produced these fruit snacks and start a petetion for them to bring them back. I think if the company knew there is still a demand for this product....they might bring them back!!! Who's with me?
SZA - March 03, 2009 - Report this comment
Amy, I think Fruit Corners was the company that produced Fruit Wrinkles. (Of course, a company that is no longer around. :( )
Amy - March 03, 2009 - Report this comment
Thanks SZA. That sucks. Maybe another company could produce something in the near future that tastes the same.

I think Kroger manufactures a fruit snack very close to Fruit Wrinkles ... if you're lucky enough to live near a Kroger, that is. (I used to, but no longer, alas.)

Those were so GOOD! I remember being in elementary school, getting in my lunch and eating those first. They made some that were little bloby things and then towards the end, they made them in banana-orange-cherry shapes but they were strawberry flavor. I liked those and Tutti Fruitti-the strawberry roll filled with grape. YUM!

I loved fruit wrinkles. I thought i was the only person remembered them.I would just pour the whole pack in my mouth. I loved the orange ones. How come everytime you like something they get rid of it. I wish they knew how much people liked them. If they would bring them back they would fly off the shelves. BY FAR THE BEST SNACK EVER MADE!

The orange accounted for 99% of the vitamin C I ingested during my first pregnancy in 1987. And now my 22 year old daughter, since fruit wrinkles are no longer available, is addicted to orange gummi bears. Coincidence? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!

I have a 6 year deadline to bring back "THE WRINKLE". I now believe I have enough people to back this project. Who is with me? Everybody, please please call Betty Crocker and demand "The Fruit Wrinkles" be put back on the market. My kids think I am crazy,,,they say "NO Mom, it is called a Gusher" and I say "GET OUT OF HERE YOU PESKY KIDS,,IT'S A FRUIT WRINKLE,,,AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MAGIC MIDDLES". 6 years people, 6 years!!!! If you are with me email me at: (fruitwrinklelover@hotmail.com) so we can start a petition.

Eric Ebacher - December 31, 2009 - Report this comment
Betty Crocker introduced Fruit Roll-Ups approximately one year after they introduced Fruit Wrinkles, and within that time, Fruit Roll-Ups began to outsell its predecessor, which by 1989-1990 led Betty Crocker to announce that they would stop selling Fruit Wrinkles.
Jean - January 01, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks for the rundown on how our favorite snack got discontinued Eric, but that's not what we really care about. We want "The Wrinkle" back, not the history of how it got discontinued. If you have a story on how we can bring it back sooner, that would be something we would like to read!!
Eric Ebacher - January 01, 2010 - Report this comment
Jean-- You would have to ask General Mills, Betty Crocker's current parent company, because they were the ones who, by January of 1990, gave the order to ultimately stop manufacturing and distributing Fruit Wrinkles.
Jean - January 01, 2010 - Report this comment
Now that's the answer we were looking for. Thank you Eric!

I think about these all the time!! My friends family shopped at Costco (back when not everyone did) and they use to buy these in bulk. I LOVED to eat these at her house. I have a Kroger 5 minutes from my house I will have to see if they carry that similar product!!!!

Walmart has a fruit snack that I think tastes a LOT like fruit wrinkles. I haven't had them since I was in kindergarten, so I'm not positive, but I think it's the same flavor. They are called Fruit Jammers and they are made by Sunbelt. They have real fruit juice in them, just like the fruit wrinkles, and they are oh so good :-)

CORIE - January 27, 2010 - Report this comment
YAY FUN FRUITS!!! Any fruit snack made by Betty Crocker are the ones that lack the gelatin that makes them grossly chewy like a gummie bear. The walmart brand fruit smiles are very good or jewel/dominicks store brand are kind like the good old ones. I too miss tuti fruitis the fruit roll with gooey center, but remember Garfield fruit snacks? Those were the BEST!!! I always liked the plain old little bean shaped fruit snack and the sharks with the mystery great white shark...there was also this delicious fruit bar that was about and inch thick and so yummy, I wonder why these disappeared and were replaced by unhealthy gummy varieties with gelatin instead of fruit pectin. Avoid kelloggs brand to avoid animal parts in your fun fruits!

The cherry wrinkle was the best and its sad that no other fruit snack can compare to that flavor. I remember sitting in the cold metal shopping cart as me and mom were buzzing around the local supermarket and finally getting to the fruit snack section. Oh I was so happy to see that box of cherry fruit wrinkles!! Memories In A Box Kids!

Ok, I'm a huge fruit snack nut. I LOVED Fruit Wrinkles and it is so sad that they aren't around anymore. I've been trying to find a comparable fruit snack for quite a while... like 18 years. I found a pretty darn good one that I highly recommend: Sunbelt Fruit Jammers. They are about $2 a box and have the appropriate consistency. Give them a shot and comment back. In the meantime we should bombard General Mills with calls to petition them to being back the original Fruit Wrinkles snack.
SZA - February 20, 2010 - Report this comment
The Kellogg brand strawberry & cherry flavored ones aren't too bad, either. They have a stale firmness to them that is reminiscent of Fruit Wrinkles.

I loved the lemon fruit wrinkles. I wish they were still around--now I have a 2 1/2 year old and have been trying different fruit snacks and can't stand the gumminess--best I've found so far are Annie's organic bunny fruit snacks, and they just came out w/ a pink lemonade flavor. Still, they're no lemon Fruit Wrinkles (Fun Fruits were good, too, but I liked the Fruit Wrinkles better.)

Anna, yeah, I haven't eaten fruit snacks in years because I just can't stand the gummy texture of the modern ones! At first it seemed to be just a few companies that mader them that way, but now they all seem to do it. There has to be some way to bring back the chewy-textured ones. I still remember part of the commercial jingle for these.

No one seems to remember the fruit punch flavored Fruit Wrinkles. I considered those a runner-up to orange, though. Orange Fruit Wrinkles feature prominently in my memories of my 8th birthday at Disney World. Flavor-wise, Betty Crocker's Scooby-Doo fruit snacks remind me of Fruit Wrinkles, but their texture is smoother and firmer.

OMG!! I Loved Fruit Wrinkles. I remember going to the corner store and buying a box, strawberry flavor, just for me. You couldn't get me to share those with anyone. They were like a special treat and for some reason I loved going to the store on a Saturday morning. General Mills definitely needs to bring them back using the same recipe.
Crystal - October 23, 2013 - Report this comment
I remember my mom bought a whole case of them from Pace aka Sam's Club and she "hid" them under her bed so I wouldn't eat them all at once. Needless to say I would go in and get a pack almost everyday. They were such a delicacy!! It makes me so sad when I ask my friends who are around the same age as me if they ever ate them and they just look at me like I'm weird. Fruit Wrinkles made me so happy. If they haven't changed the nasty chemical taste of fruit roll-ups then sadly, I don't think Fruit Wrinkles will make a come-back. I think it has become too costly for General Mills to incorporate real fruit. Bastards...and they wonder why the new generation could care less for fruit-roll ups.
