Description
They were little crunchy rings that tasted like onion rings. They were addictive, but made your breath smell awful. Originated before the 80s.

Best line in the movie Half-Baked (which came out in the 90s) is Jim Bruer's character ordering tons of food and then pauses and says"...and funyuns." The stuff is good, I'm glad they still make it.

Just hearing the word 'Funyun' makes the roof of my mouth ache ...
sza-you are right.the roof of your mouth and your tonge felt like someone used sandpaper on it-but only after you ate like about 20 of them and by then you were in an addictive frenzy and couldnt stop-they stuck in your teeth.
They are rough on your mouth... but man, an ice cold mountain dew from a can, a hotdog (wrapped in a slice of cheese) and a mouthful of funyuns is orgasmic!
The kids in my grade school were LOCO for Funyuns! Big time! It was probably the biggest seller on the snack bar. I wasn't really big fan though. What I recall most vividly about 'em is how utterly foul they made everybody's breath. Eww.

Loved them as a kid, and still love them as an adult. They are so bad for you, but oh-so-delish! I'm such a hypocrite b/c I eat these things, but won't let my kids lol!
Seemed to be a snack I didn't crave much, but enjoyed when the ol' Funyun phase hit.
I didn't know about Funyuns till I moved to Central NJ from Northern NJ. I can't bring myself to like them because up north it was Wise Onion Rings all the way :) I still crave the Wise quite often!

I love funyuns. They are one of my favorite snacks of all time.
I never had a taste for these as a kid but I do like them now. They used to sell the little bags for $.50 in my elementary school caffateria.
A few years ago I found a limited version of Funyuns, it was wasabi flavored....THE BOMB!!!Sure wish they would bring those back. I hear they carry them overseas but not in the U.S. I wish they would sell all the products they make...guess thats too much to ask.
I just obliterated a whole fat bag of Funyuns and my mouth is numb and burning, I feel awesome- and I'm chugging back a Dew. Yeah. I found this forum when I googled "Funyuns makes my mouth hurt" but couldn't stop eating them... Lol

Total stoner snack food. You all know what ima talking about. Will now have a surge in sales in Oregon tonight.
I like the original flavor of Funyuns; they're mild. The Flamin' Hot Funyuns are too hot for me.
