Description
Nabisco use to make these cookies which were very delicious but for some reason stopped making them. They were wafers covered with caramel and chocolate and had nuts on the top. I think I'm missing another ingredient but they were delicous.

I think that was all of the ingredients but I'm like you I grew up on those cookies and I loved them, and now, of course, you can't buy them anymore! They always seem to take away the good stuff! Sometimes they need to just leave a good thing alone, don't you all agree?
martha T. - July 08, 2007 - Report this comment

They were Keebler cookies - yummy - I bought some fudge covered wafer bars from Safeway for $1.50 and put crunchy peanut butter on them.... I have looked for years - they were like crack cocaine. I may have to beg Keebler to make them again.... maybe get the MoveOn.org people involved? A march on Washington?

Finally someone who knows what I am talking about. I loved these cookies, they were the best ever. But of course they discontinued them they discontinue every thing that I like. I have come to believe I am the kiss of death for products. If I like it then it will soon disappear off the shelves. I do remember these used to only be out in the winter along with the pinwheel cookies I guess because the ingredients melted in the heat. Come back Heydeys we love you!!!!!!

I am a former Nabisco employee. Their slogan should be: "We'll sell less and less of more and more until we nothing left to sell." They are probably the least marketing savy food producer on the face of the Earth because they rely on the Bean Counters to determine what and how things will be sold.
Diane - September 03, 2008 - Report this comment
The Heyday is by far the best packaged cookie ever made. I'm sorry Jerry, but I disagree that they are just like Samoa; certainly similar consistency. BRING BACK THE HEYDAY!!!

HeyDays were the best. my favorite treat. i would nibble the nuts off of them individually just to prolong the pleasure of eating these cookie bars. those layers! that crunch! the chewiness! if they were made today, would they still be as good? and what if they made a version using dark chocolate only and sunflower kernels instead of nuts (now that i am allergic to cow casein and tree nuts)?

I wish Nabisco would bring these cookies back! I would buy cases of them. I can't believe they were discontinued! Imagine THAT? What were they thinking? I would like to know??? My grandmother would purchase them. She got me hooked. I would always stay with my grandparents in their trailer house at the lake or hot springs. It makes me sad. I would like to share them with my grandchildren when we take trips in the trailer. Great Memories! Please bring them back!!! They need a new public relations rep...

WELL IM BACK YOU HAVE GOT TO FOLLOW THIS RECIPE THAT I MADE UP.THIS IS ALL YOU NEED: SOME SALTED CHOPPED NUTS,CHEX MIX BARS.THE TURTLE ONES,AND SOME CANDIQUIK CHOCOLATE.IT IS MADE BY LOG HOUSE IN A SHINNY RED WRAPPER.YOU CAN MELT THIS IN YOUR MICROWAVE IN ABOUT 2-3 MINS OR MORE DEPENDING ON YOUR MICROWAVE.UNWRAPE THE BARS,AND POUR THE CHOPPED NUTS ON A LAGE PLATE.WHEN THE CHOCOLATE IS MELTED,TAKE A BAR AND COVER IT WITH THE CHOCOLATE.I SCRAPED SOME OF. YOU CAN LEAVE AS MUCH AS YOU WANT ON THE BAR.NEXT,ROLL IT AROUND IN THE NUTS TO COVER THE THE WHOLE BAR AND LAY IT ON WAX PAPER,AND LET IT GET HARD AGAIN. THEN REPEAT THIS FOR EVERY BAR.WHEN THEY COOL YOU CAN CUT THEM INTO SMALLER SECTIONS THATS WHAT I DID, AFTER I WOLFED ONE DOWN.YOU REALLY HAVE GOT TO TRY THIS IT IS THE CLOSEST I HAVE COME TO A HEYDAY FOR TASTE, AND TEXTURE AND SIMPLISCITY.HAVE FUN YOU HEYDAY FREAKS....... VOID WERE PROHIBITED BY LAW

I'm with everyone else. I miss those cookies. I feel that Nabisco's decision to quit making the HeyDey Bars as one of the biggest blunders in cookie making history. We should organize an internet email campaign to bring back the HeyDey Bar. If it can work for saving TV shows, then why not for our favorite cookie?

I've been looking for a HeyDay cookie taste-alike recipe for years...same for the Yes Yes cookies. Remember those? They were a lot like HeyDays. Oh, the many days I spent on the lake fishing with my dad...lemonade (remember the kind that came frozen in small cans and had lots of pulp?) from a thermos and HeyDays or Yes Yes. Sigh.

If anyone knows of a copycat recipe for these cookies please post it here- thanks- my mom got me hooked on them back in the late 70's-they were her favorite cookie too!

My husband and I were just reminiscing about the heyday bars to our son yesterday. I wish Nabisco would bring them back for the next generations. Our kids are missing enough – they shouldn’t go without experiencing the heyday bar!

I looked for heyday bars for years before I realized they were gone for good. I'm going to send an email to the company and beg them to bring them back. Maybe everyone should, then maybe they'll bring them back... even if it's only for a limited time. Hey, it worked for the Taco flavored Doritos.... EMAIL THE COMPANY!!!!

I just put in a request today to The Vermont Country Store to ask Nabisco to bring them back!! Nabisco claims that there weren't enough consumers to continue the product!! FAQ Home - Nabisco Product Questions Are some of the older Nabisco snack products still available? We still carry a wide variety of snack products that were originally under the Nabisco label. There are some types of snacks that have been discontinued. There were not enough consumers buying the products to support its continued production. The following is a list of snacks that we most commonly receive questions about, and have been discontinued: NABISCO AMERICAN FRIES NABISCO CHIPPERS NABISCO CHIPSTERS NABISCO CHIT CHAT NABISCO DIP IN A CHIP NABISCO FLINGS NABISCO HEYDAY BARS NABISCO KENNEDY'S SPECIAL COMMONS NABISCO LIL' LOAF NABISCO MEAL-MATES NABISCO NUTTER BUTTER GRANOLA BARS NABISCO SHAPIES NABISCO TUNA TWIST PLANTER'S TAVERN NUTS SNACKWELL'S BROWNIE MIX

I thought I was the only one missing the heydays cookie. The heydays cookie was the best cookie nabisco had to offer back then. I don't know why they stopped making those cookies. I cannot find these cookies anywhere. I wish they would bring the cookies back the way the use to be back in the late 70s and early 80s.

We kept these cookies in the refrigerator. They were better than a cold Snickers. Without a doubt, the best cookie ever made.

They were almost more candy bar than cookie but they were the best! How come the really good things never seem to last? They can make a half dozen different versions of Oreos and Chips Ahoys but won't bring back HeyDays.

I just went to the Vermont Country Store, where they pride themselves on resurrecting defunct products so much, they have a form you can fill out to request something you miss. I took a form to fill out for Hey Deys, and googled them just wanted to be sure they were really gone. I can't believe so many other people miss them too! My friend Ruth's mom would buy them, and I was always afraid she'd be mad that we ate so many (I think there were only twelve in the tray). I actually remember them from the 70's. Anyway, everyone contact the Vermont Country Store, they have a way getting requests filled, and they have a website!
Wes - August 29, 2009 - Report this comment
Yes, like everyone else on this site, I feel the same way. I have very fond memories of the heyday cookies in the 70's. If they brought them back, I would buy them by the case also.

Best cookie ever! I couldn't believe it when I could no longer find them. Nabisco never advertised them - no wonder they didn't have enough people purchasing them. I was responsible for getting many people hooked on them though! Bring them back. I'm sending e-mails to anyone who might be able to have some influence!
Gloria - September 21, 2009 - Report this comment
My daughter and I were just talking the other day about how no cookie will ever compare to the Heyday Bars. I thought it would be fun to google Heyday and I am so happy to see that we are not the only ones despartley wishing they would bring them back. Come on Nabisco, bring back the Heyday Bars for all people out there that love them and those who have never had them. The Girl Scout version is a very dissapointing tease to the real thing. And please don't change anything about the old ones if they do come back. Blueberry Morinings cereal by Post has never been the same since they changed the flakes.

My sister Robyn Ashby and I use to go from Rio Linda (N.California) to Anahiem in the late 60's early 70's to visit my grandmother on the grayhound bus and we would have the Heyday bars with us. What a treat. Years later when our family had a month long camping trip I found the Heyday bars in South Dakota and that was in 1988 but i have not been able to find them since and I have been looking every where. PLEASE PLEASE NABISCO bring back this delicious treat with the caramel, nuts, chocolate, wafers that is so wonderful. It is by far the best cookie i have ever tasted. Please let us go back to our childhood and reminince....Let us give our grandchildren some parts of our past to taste. PLEASE. NABISCO YOU ARE THE BEST COOKIE MAKING COMPANY YOU CAN DO THIS...we love you....Shelly

Heyday Cookies were the best. I'm sure they stopped making them because they were too good, i.e., cost too much for what they could sell them for. I just emailed Kraft Nabisco about it. You can too, at: http://www.kraftfoodscompany.com/Contacts/contact-us.aspx
Johnny Bud - September 24, 2009 - Report this comment
Nothing like them - period. My wife and kids still talk about my love affair with Heydeys and every delicious word of it is true! As screwed up as this world is today a lot could be said and done for just a few moments of solitude with a few Heydeys and a cold glass of milk. You can have all the rest of everything.
Pat Herring - October 18, 2009 - Report this comment
I can't believe there are others who also want the heydey cookie to come back. I am always looking for them at every cookie aisle. Why would you discontinue such a wonderful product? Please, please bring them back!!!
VIVICA - October 23, 2009 - Report this comment
I just emailed Nabisco. Seriously...I am sure they can make them and make a profit at it. And I know people would buy them! There is nothing out there like it! And as I recall, they were a real treat, because even back then, you got less cookies for the price. They were kinda expensive, as I recall. But oh, so worth it!! I still dream about them. And then wake up...and cry. Maybe we should petition Nabisco!!

Diane - October 30, 2009 - Report this comment
Heydays were the best cookie bar ever invented. I contacted Nabisco several years ago asking about these bars and was told there weren't enough requests for heydays to make it worthwhile to continue producing. I think this website for one shows that people still want them. What does a person have to do to convince the company to bring back an old favorite?!!
