Description
Were Ice Cream Cakes popular before the 80's. I can't remember if they were new in the 80's.

I had my first ice cream cake just two years ago for my birthday. It's just nothing but ice cream with frosting. It was still good though.

In the 80's my mom use to get me an ice cream cake that was actually ice cream centered between 2 layers of cake and then frosting all over. It was deeeeeeeeeeelicious. My favorite.

When I was a little girl I would get Ice Cream cakes every year for my birthday. Back then Baskin and Robins had them in a case. There was a little flip book of all the designs you could get on the top.My cakes always had characters. We would take them a picture of the one I wanted and they would replicate the picture beautifully. I think I have a picture of a couple of my cakes. I remember one of Strawberry Shortcake and one of Ernie from Seasame Street. To this day I crave like crazy for an Ice Cream Cake. I ran across one in a grocery store out of the way. It was in a freezer. Every birthday I wish man I want a ice cream cake :(

I having a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake now. It's good but I remember the icing being different when I was a kid in the 80s. It seemed thicker and more "frozen". Anyone else remember that?
