When I was a kid, I could't get enough of this tasty sandwich. I can still remember how it tasted and Jack in the Box has never made anything close to it since. Man I wish they would bring this one back!

I write JITB every few months requesting they bring this sandwich back. The. Best. Sandwich. Ever.

They were the best hangover food. But they really were good anytime. So delicious. Please bring them back. I would tell all my family and friends.

These sandwiches were THE BEST !!!! I crave them all the time. I tried to make my own version, but the secret sauce and the right poppyseed rolls make a huge difference. My homemade ones cannot compare,sadly. PLEASE JITB, bring these back!

I remember the Jack in the Box hot ham & cheese sandwich in the mid 1970's. It was called the "Yumbo". I sure miss them.

I have had memories of the Jack H H and C for most of my life. It most likely the oldest thing I ate at Jack, its at least the earliest in my memory for it was THAT GOOD. For some reason the one I remember the most was coming home at night after a day at Santa Cruz beach, the best one I ever had.

I thought i was the only one that remembered how scrumptious the hot ham &cheese sand from jacks was..ya a great late night sandwich satisfied every cheesy craving,in between the toasted poppy sead buns..yum yum,bring it back!!!

My wife did it she duplicated the Hot ham and cheese Recpt.1-kaiser poppy seed roll Sauce: 1-glob of mayo(not miracle whip) 1-dollop yellow mustard 1-splash onion juice mix sauce 1-package Hillshire farm ultra thin smoked Ham 1-slice swiss cheese 1-slice Monterey jack cheese Steam Ham and toast bun in bagel toaster use generous portion of sauce put swiss on top of ham Monterey jack on bottom and enjoy.

I think the only good memory of High School is, you guessed it, JITB Hot Ham and Cheese! I ate them 4or5 per day. I would give up smoking if they brought it back!

I totally agree.the h ham n cheese was so differnt from anything else at jack in the box..ham was light n tasty,the melted cheddar spread on toasted poppy seed bun,i pray they bding it back..pleasee...

I worked at JIB in the 80's when this sandwich was around. It was awesome! With that said, the sauce was an onion-mayo sauce spiked with a hint of horseradish. Thin sliced Danish/boiled ham. Processed (not aged) Swiss for its melting. They had a Monterey Chicken sandwich at the same time which used the onion mayo without the horseradish spike. (I also liked the Taco Bell Bell-Beefer.)

It was also my very favorite thing there. The bun was delicious and I have never understood why they took it off the menu

I taught I was the only person graving for this sadwich. I remember that it was provolone cheese they used, that's how much I miss it.

Loved this sandwich on the way home from the bar. I would get two. The sauce was tangy and still had a bite similar to horseradish. I miss this sandwich very much.

Im always thinking of the Bacon cheese burger with a dark brown bun and black sesame seed looking things. It's just the flavors that changed as the years go by. Damn government lol

The HHC sandwich that Jack in the Crack was the best item on their menu! I'd eat two every other day or so. Then one day they suddenly disappeared. Never understood why, it was a great alternative to burgers.

Yes indeed, ole Jack in Da Crack served up an awesome HHC sandwich! That's the ONLY reason me and my homeys would go there. Ham piled high, cheese, sesame seed roll and secret sauce. They were huge but I could eat three at one sitting. Some say they've replicated the sandwich at home, but that's like saying you can duplicate a In N Out double double at home. It ain't happening!!

I still think about this sandwich! It was so good and I ordered it every time with my onion rings and I was in heaven. I was hoping someone had a copy cat of the sauce they used. I miss it!

Oh my gosh, I would only eat the Hot Ham and Cheese at Jack in the Box. I can still almost taste the gooey cheese and sauce slathered upon the ham on the poppy seed bun, it was the best, it was definitely hot! Many good memories and cravings.

Please Jack in the Box, enter the Hot Ham & Cheese wars and bring back the classic. The Yumbo sucks..your's is soooo good! Why did you ever take off menu. You can charge $14 on your 9pm stoner menu....I will buy three!

when I first saw the ad for the return of the hot ham & cheese, I perked right up. Then I saw it was BK. Yuck. Brink back the HH&C, Jack!

Now would be the best time to re-introduce the HH&C supreme, with the yumbo back on the market, Jack would kill the competition if they would. IMO that was the best sandwich ever. Come on Jack, feed the masses!! That would make a wonderful christmas present for America!

in my youth the Hot Ham & Cheese and the Double Bacon Cheeseburger Supreme were the only two items I'd by at JinB. I will now, on occasion, get the supreme croissant... with extra onion/mayo sauce.

They also a sliced beef and cheddar sandwich that wasn't bad, but not as good as the HHC. They also had the best Nachos, supreme and plain!

I worked at JiB in the 80's when this sandwich was around. From what I recall, it was an onion-poppy roll, thin-sliced ham (steamed), processed Swiss cheese. The sauce was a mayo-based, onion-mustard-horseradish flavored sauce. You can get close with mayo and dijon (Grey Poupon works best), along with onion powder. My favorite JiB sandwich ever. Never ate the burgers because back then, they were cooked en-masse and placed into a beef broth. I worked at a 24-hour unit and the broth wasn't always changed per regulation. Glad they do things different now. I haven't eaten at JiB in probably over 30 years, but if they brought back the HH&C, I'd give it a whirl, especially if the supreme croissant made a re-appearance.

Well I worked there nights while attending mid colledge. The best ever was an ultimate cheese burger. Made with toasted rye sourdough bread 1/2 lb. Burger two slices of Monterey jack cheese one on top one on bottom and their special sauce that was bottled and sent to us directly from ca. #2the steak pita pocket and the chicken pita pocket. It was put grill from portioned packets heated on stove on grill and served hot in a pia pocket bread wrapped little paper foil half baggie blue bag was steak silver bag was chicken.And there was a lot more

The Hot Ham & Cheese was the daily go to The best ever. People in Hawaii love it & miss it very much!!! Your other Hot item was the burrito Friends use to fly in from the other Hawaiian Islands where the was no Jack in The Box just to eat these favorite foods. Bring them Back Jack!!!

The Hot Ham & Cheese was awesome!!! I also loved the steak pita pocket and the original cheeseburgers. But, the very, very best (for me) was the Monterey Burger that they sold in So. Cal. in the mid eighties....YUM!!!! BRING THEM BACK, JACK!

I loved these sandwiches, they were so good. I could not believe that Jack in the Box would have dumped such a fabulous sandwich. Like most that have commented I think that JITB would have more business than they knew what to do with if they brought back that sandwich.

I loved the Hot Ham and Cheese on the kaiser roll at JITB....I wish they would give me the sauce recipe. The above doesn't sound right. Bring it back that with onion rings was my standard order.

Hot ham & cheese was my go-to sandwich at Jack in the Box; can't understand why they just disappeared either! PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!! You could do a great advertising campaign like McDonald's did with the McRib. HH&C is a good alternative to a burger.

I also loved the hot ham n cheese as well as the hot beef n cheese. From what I recall, they didn’t start out as “supreme” they only became supreme after they added that pesky produce. I liked them ‘neat’, just meat cheese & sauce! :) Back when the breakfast crescent was still actually crescent shaped... used to eat the hell out of those things! Why’s my heart still beating? Anyhoo, the satisfaction still lingers through the sands of time. Start an online petition! I’ll sign. Bring it back Jack!

Correct me if I am wrong...but wasn't the original Supreme Crescent 2 Meats 2 Cheeses and a Mayo sauce? BTW - Hot Ham and Cheese was the bomb.

Get a ham and cheese from Arbys and add the Horsey sauce, the taste is pretty similar to the JITB hot Ham and Cheese. NOT the same of course, but close. No poppy seed buns at Arbys.

I remember in the early 80s as a kid always wanting that ham and cheese sandwich when asked “ what you guys want to eat”? Lol!!! But it really sux that I’ve been reading for a few years all the requests from so many loyal customers to bring it back and needless to say I haven’t heard anything from jack in the box responding to anybody with any explanation. Pretty sad and boo you jack! But man, those were the best burgers then. Now it’s just went all down hill. I can say the tacos are always a nice late night snack tho.

If Jack in the Box brings back that hot ham and cheese, then I'll be violating the "stay at home" recommendations and running right over there to pick up a few of them!

My favorite that was the Bacon Cheeseburger Supreme, had the onion mayo and poppyseed bun. It was amazing to me and I ate way to many in the 80's lol I miss them soooooo much. this is the closest recipe for the onion mayo. Ingredients 1.5 tsp white vinegar 1 tsp granulated sugar or corn syrup 1/4 tsp onion powder 1/8 tsp dry mustard powder or yellow mustard 1 pinch xanthan gum optional 2 tbsp mayonnaise Instructions Mix the vinegar, sugar, onion and mustard until the sugar dissolves Add a pinch of xanthan gum while mixing and allow to sit until it thickens slightly Add mayonnaise. You can use it immediately, but it will get better as it sits. Allow at least an hour for the best flavor. Notes This should make enough sauce for about four burgers or sandwiches.

Glad I found this site. I have been telling people the best sandwich JITB ever put out was their HH&C. The sauce was mind blowing along with the thinly sliced ham, gooing cheese and that hot poppy seed bun. Anyone know how to make that sauce???

This was absolutely the best sandwich/burger on JIB’s menu. A friend of mine owns a few franchises and told me that the reason items get discontinued is because it doesn’t sell well at the main JIB in San Diego, regardless of how well it does anywhere else. That just blew my mind! JIB doesn’t listen to their customers, so you’re better off spending your money at In & Out!
