Description
These were around before the 80's,but we were so obssessed with watermelon jolly ranchers. You had to look carefully not to get a "fire" flavored one because they were really hot.

remember when they used to come in bar forms..unstead of bite size peices. you had to crack them to get a piece that would fit in your mouth..or you just suck on the stick.. ahhhh miss that style..it was fun!

I love the cherry flavor. And yes, I do remember the ones that came one the stick also. And Fredy, how dare you call us stupid.
FAC33 - February 13, 2008 - Report this comment
The stick form (or Stix) used to be 10 cents at the pharmacy where my mom worked. Was addicted to the lemon flavour--best lemon candy ever. Unfortunately they phased out that flavour a couple of years ago, which majorly sucks.

I remember dropping one or two of the individually wrapped ones into bottles of Zima back in college (late 90s). Good times.

Space Cowgirl - July 09, 2008 - Report this comment
These were the best candy ever, especially the watermelon! And I remember the flat sticks too, and how they'd cut your tongue when they got really thin if you weren't careful. These were the quintessential reward for good behavior when I was going to elementary school in suburban Dallas, TX.

The Cinnamon 'Fire' flat stick was the best.
Sharon - January 16, 2009 - Report this comment
Yes! Watermelon is the best! First time I ever tried one was during elementary school age. My older sister had a new friend who came over with this "new" candy (we had never had it). It was in a small paper bag and she slipped one of the stix out and let us try it. I remember you did have to suck on them a wait until it thinned out a break off, or you could wear a sort of hole in it also! Fond memories of that time!
Freddy - April 26, 2009 - Report this comment
I know you can get the sticks at Candy Crate online. Unfortunatly they don't have Cinnamon Fire listed and many flavours were discontinued by the manufacturer. Dang, The Fire stick was the best!
marly - September 10, 2009 - Report this comment
I remember sucking on those flat sticks and they'd cut my tongue too. The flavors were so intense. I loved apple and watermelon the most, but all of them were great. Chew on them and you could pull out a filling.

OMG!!! I use to LOVE the cinnamon FIRE flat sticks!! I would pull back the wrapper and suck on those those forever. I use to break them by smacking them against the table so I could eat in class! PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!!

Oh yeah. Jolly Ranchers. My dad used to bring a handful with us to church to keep us kids quiet. I never liked the cinnamon fire stix, but loved the lemon. I also remember the obscure caramel and butter (scotch) flavors. These days the Cherry is my favorite.
miltaryma - September 18, 2010 - Report this comment
Yes, you can still get some flavors online. The only two I have found are cherry and sour apple. I just ordered the sour apple at hometownfavorites.com (they have so many of the flavors of my youth) I best remember the butter(scotch) watermelon and sour apple flavor ones, they were awesome and would last forever. For a kid who was really happy with .25 or .50 cents in a candy store the enjoyment time ratio to cost on these candies was one of the best.

I thought this inthe80s.com/food deal was for foods that no longer exists, but we want back. For example, Dutch Mill donuts and the like. But it's all good! Jolly Ranchers are a true classic. Glad they are still around. In fact, I'm gonna get me one right now. HEY NOW!

I wish I could find a picture of the old "stick" ones. They used to be so good and they would melt & bend when they got hot.
Hal - July 21, 2012 - Report this comment
Fire, lemon, strawberry, green apple, cherry, grape, were the onesI remember in the 60's. Three rare ones were butter, carm'l, and smoke (licorice). Watermelon and blue raspberry came out later.

Bakergirl - October 14, 2012 - Report this comment
My favorites were caramel, fire, and lemon - watermelon was the worst! The sticks were much better than the little bite sizes pieces.
catgirl - October 27, 2012 - Report this comment
I loved the fire stix, and you can't find them now. Green apple was also a favorite, along with other fruit flavors; watermelon and cherry. I didn't care much for lemon nor grape.

I remember the butter flavored jolly rancher stix and the fire one too. my sister and I would get one of each and then eat each flavor together because the fire one was too hot. Does anyone remember the butter flavor jolly rancher
retta - December 06, 2012 - Report this comment
They use to make butter, fire, grapefruit, strawberry. I brought a bag of these a day ago, not the same, they stuck with the simple flavors, grape, apple, watermelon, cherry, blueberry?. No fire, strawberry, lemon. Pretty boring, I gave them away.
Rox-Anne - January 10, 2013 - Report this comment
I distinctly remember the butter flavor but not the lemon. Does anyone remember the Peach flavor? And the square jolly rancher lollipops, what happened to those? Please bring them back bcuz the flavor was so good n intense.

I remember grape, watermelon, sour apple, peach, lemon, and fire(cinnamon). I used to break a stuck in half and melt it to the roof of my mouth and pretend I had a retainer! (I wanted one so bad and enveyed kids who had them)I would also do it before going to class be cause it would suction to the roof of your mouth so you could easily hide the candy. Well, except for the powerful, wonderful scent!haha Iiss the variety of flavors and the sticks!

Most money I ever made was in 7th grade. Bought em for a dime and sold em for a quarter in Jr. High! Would by em by the box and head to school with a backpack full of jolly rancher stix! What a memory! Thanks jolly rancher!

My father owned several grcery stores. Jolly Rancher made pink grapefruit stix, which were my favorite there were atleast a dozen flavors. Maybe they need to bring them back for a limited time and cll them "Retro Ranchers." I'm just saying!

The dollar tree near me sells the regular hard candy, I could have sworn I did see fire/cinnamon in it but I didn't bother to try it because I love cherry the most, I'll go back and see if it s there because they had a whole ton of packs with it. I used to LOVE when kids in junior high would bring the cherry sticks, they were the best. You can't find it online anymore because it's out of stock everywhere it sucks they got rid of the best. As for people who keep posting about help for projects on jolly rancher, please just Google. It has all you need to know about jolly rancher lol.
