Kaboom (1969 to present) is a clown. His toasted oat cereal is multi-colored and shaped like smiling clown faces and marshmallow stars. To the right is how the clown looked in 1976, and the box is from 1979. Quentin Tarantino's 2003 movie "Kill Bill Vol. 1" included a scene in which Vernita Green pulls a weapon out of a box Kaboom cereal in an ill-fated attempt to eliminate the Bride

This was my FAVORITE growing up. I didn't see it for years and then found it in South Carolina a few years back. I still love it. The cereal is not that sweet, compared to similar ones today like lucky charms. Its more tangy like orangey/limey. YUM.

I love this cereal and I remember buying it when I grew up, I was at Mardi Gras in New Orleans and went to a Win-Dixie and they had it I bought back 6 boxes to share with my family and then they started saling it here I'm so happy, they also have it in your rainbow foods store, if you have those, I remember my mom getting these on wic you can't do that any more they are considered sweet or not healthy

I loved this as a kid! I actually saw a box for sale at Big Lots about 6 months ago. I came very close to buying it.

i work outside, landscaping and gardening here in eugene, OR. every february the Winter Dapnes's bloom, the are my favorite smelling winter blooming small shrub. it dawned on me a few years back, they smell like my favorite cereal as a kid, KA-BOOM! i thought kaboom was extinct, and none of my friends or coworkers ever heard of it. they think i am nuts when i am trying to tell them that the blooms on this bush smell like cereal. it's funny what stays with you and what scents can trigger random memories.

The picture posted here is NOT the '80s box. That is the current box.

They changed the recipe from oat flour to corn flour, completely changing the texture and taste of this. The smileys used to be flat and darker in color, now they're plumb and bright. What you remember lives on only in memory now. I guess corn is cheaper to produce?

All these years later, love me some Kaboom. How can a child not fall in love with a cereal featuring a colorful smiley clown with smiley edibles and marshmallows. It's a marketing marvel. Kaboom is the bomb when you want a sweet treat.

This cereal was the ish when I was a kid. It totally outclassed lucky charms, trix, and all those other sugar filled cereals. Steven King's "It" made me hate clowns but this cereal made me ok with them.

"E" is absolutely correct. Your crap would come out special colors.

Was out from 1969-2010. Nothing in the 80's like eating a big bowl of Kaboom and then playing a game of Circus Atari!
