We loved the original box, with the guy who looked like Leslie Nielsen from "Airplane" on the front.

I loved King Vitamin! I think it must have tasted a little like Captain Crunch, but not nearly so sweet.

right next to Kabooms these two were rockin the 80's man, I remember they used to have the mask you could cut out in the back a king, queen, jester, and the joker but we couldn't wear them until we had three boxes so we all had one lol I guess that was their way of not putting a toy in the box lol, and they still sale them in all the grocery stores around here

I was born in '87, and some of my oldest memories were of loving this cereal. I can truly say that King Vitaman is part of my life, and I feel connected back to my childhood when I eat a bowl. Sounds corny and weird, I suppose, but it's true.

Lori hit the nail on the head!! Loved this cereal and miss it along with Buc-Wheats and Fresca (which is making a comeback).

I was just sitting here with my 6 year old twin boys, and was telling them about my two favorite cereals as a child. I told them that they were Quisp and King Vitamin and that I wish they still made both of them.

I actually never ate it, but I remember seeing the box in the cereal section at the supermarket. I found some pics that I'll post.

It is King Vitaman, not vitamin. I don't think I ever tried the cereal myself. I worked in a supermarket in the 90's and the only customers who ever bought it were women using WIC vouchers because there were a very limited number of cereals approved for WIC.

I bought a box a couple of years ago at some off-brand market, and I kept the box! It's still made by Quaker Oats, and has a copyright of 2005 on it, but sadly a poorly-drawn animated king now populates the front. The recipe look suspiciously like Cap'n Crunch (another fine QO offering), with corn and oat flour along with brown sugar and coconut oil being the chief tast-y ingredients, followed by a bunch of vitamins. I still remember the jingle, from the early 70's: "King Vitaman, have breakfast with the king!(x2) Get a crisp corn taste, and all the vitamins you need!" Hey, and Tom remembers Buck Wheats! Who made 'em, Nabisco, or was that Team Flakes? They need to bring both of those back - tasty and somewhat healthy.

Was this cereal always in a box? I remember a cereal I used to eat that had a king in the front but it was not a box it was a bag. I have been trying to find the cereal but I still haven't found it anywhere. Maybe I have the wrong name?

I bought a box of Cap'n Crunch Treasures and it tastes exactly like King Vitaman... same company, same cereal.. different box. Hmmmmmmm.... good marketing, there. I actually found them at the dollar store.. the $1 box was TWO for $1. I loved King Vitaman and love this (cause it's the same.. doh!) lol!

This cereal actually dates from the early 70's. It was one of my favorites as a child. Also Quisp, which I believe was the same cereal with a different shape and a way-cool cartoon alien spokescreature.

You can buy King Vitamin at Piggly Wiggly in South Carolina. Grew up with this stuff in the 70's and now my kids have tried it.

For a while when i was a kid I liked King Vitamin better than Capn Crunch. Then they did something to change the King Vitamin flavor, and that was the end of that!

King Vitaman was introduced in 1969. Originally, a cartoon king was in TV commercials. Actor Joe Flynn voiced him. When movie work with Disney tied up his time, Flynn stopped voicing the cartoon king. By 1971, a live actor was used for the next rounds of commercials.
