A non-yogurt cream-and-fruit blend without all the cultures that make yogurt sour (and good for you). The tagline was "Tastes like yogurt would if it could--Kissle!"

Kissle had two chocolate flavors, a milk chocolate and a dark chocolate. The dark chocolate had such a perfect, rich chocolate flavor that I have never experienced before nor after. It was so addictive. I miss it so much.

I can't believe there are other people that remember Kissle! Most people look at me like I'm crazy whenever I mention it. I hate yogurt and this was the closest thing to it that I would eat. Chocolate was my favorite as well.

I loved Kissle! I can't stand yogurt -- tastes like sour milk, and I don't even like non-sour milk. I'm also very allergic to the cultures. If Kissle were around again, I would SO buy it!

I remember Kissle in the 80's. I never took to yogurt but Kissle, to me, was the next best thing. I would eat it everyday, Strawberry of course, purchasing it buy the case. I was so disappointed when it was discontinued. If I could find it today I would fall right back into eating it daily. If there is anyone that took over the manufacture of "Kissle" please provide info. I would look to partake in that creamy, smooth dessert again.

I'm with all of you! I loved Kissle, strawberry and chocolate, and I was crushed when it was discontinued. I came here hoping I'd find some way of purchasing it today.

Oh man...I got here because I was looking for chocolate yogurt options - I ate Kissle Chocolate yogurt for breakfast everyday for at least a year when I was in middle school!! Chocolate yogurt is hard to find these days - the only ones I've found are made by Yoplait (Whips, and they have a new one out (Delights?) that's about 2/3 chocolate and 1/3 raspberry yogurt). Apparently Oikos now makes one too, but you have to stir it up first. I miss Kissle! :(

well if you go to europe, dannon makes chocolate yogurt over there it's almost like pudding but better.

omg, this made my evening. i have three sisters and we used to fight over the kissle yogurts that my mom brought home when we were in middle school. we would divvy them up, so that we each got one or two to eat over the course of the week. well, once, once of my sisters came home from school and opened the fridge to retrieve the last remaining kissle yogurt, which was supposed to belong to her, and found it missing. sure enough, in the sink was a chocolate covered spoon (who would mess w/ strawberry? chocolate was the way to go!). naturally, it was obviously the only other sister who was home that day who ate it. yet she adamantly denied, loudly: "i did not eat the kissle yogurt!" to this day if we ever want to tease her, or to make fun of someone who's not telling the truth, we'll just be like "yeah, and you didn't eat the kissel yogurt." (sounds lame, but sisters find the smallest ways to torment each other). all for the love of chocolate kissel...

We loved Kissle in our house! I used to cut fresh strawberries and add it to the chocolate Kissle, oh my goodness it was amazing! Sometimes I'd add bananas too! I wish they'd come back with it again, sometimes what was old is new again! How nice it would be!

I'm with you all. I used to LOVE the chocolate and yeah, if they were to bring back New York Seltzer and Kissle, I would soo be in heaven. In fact, this site is the only one I could find, mentioning it when I typed it in. :/

I miss Kissle soooo much. I am not a yogurt fan but once I tried this product I was in heaven. I would love to see it make a come back.

I really loved Kissle a LOT, but really hate yogurt. Why anyone would want to eat something that tastes like spoiled milk is really beyond my understanding. Why can't they make yogurt without those cultures?
Susan - August 17, 2017 - Report this comment
Love Kissel but can't stand yogurt...

Willing to pay if anyone finds the recipe to Kissel chocolate yogurt. I remember the day I went to wegmans with my mom and learned they no longer were carrying the product. It was a sad day. Very sad day.

Believe it or not, a very close family friend of ours was the inventor/producer of Kissle, and a resident of Portland as one of the earlier comments stated. Happily, our friend is doing very well in his retirement years, though it's a shame production of his wonderful product was halted after he sold his company.

Believe it or not..I use to make Kissle…I worked graveyard shift in the summer between my junior and senior year of high school…My dad was the Mechanic at the dairy where Kissle was made…We lived just down the road…My job was to make the boxes..Packed the boxes with product by hand and rolled it into the Walk in cooler….The hardest part of the job was trying to stay awake all night and then sleep in the hot summer days….!!! Good Times…..

In my area, Kissle was available to at least 1991, but not much longer than that. Sounds like Kissle was a custard. Custard usually contains eggs. I don't think eggs were one of the ingredients in Kissle. There are eggless custard recipes. It's unlikely Kissle will be brought back. We will have to experiment and make our own. "A recipe barely alive. We can rebuild the recipe. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better, stronger, tastier." I found this: Whitney Foods, Inc. is a developer, marketer and seller of refrigerated yogurt products. The Company's yogurt and custard products are marketed under the "Whitney's" and ""Kissle" brand names. Status: Inactive Merged Out, Incorporation Date: 19 January 1990, Dissolution Date: 20 December 2001

I loved reading these messages! I also loved Kissle in the 80's and whenever I ask anyone, they think I'm insane! No one I know recalls it. I am currently eating "So Delicious" dairy free coconut milk yogurt alternative raspberry flavor and I swear the consistency and the taste reminds me so much of Kissle. I'm 50 now and I still remember that Kissle taste and texture!!
