Description
They were chocolate cookies with a hole in the middle and sugar sprinkled on top. I can't find them anywhere. They were out when I was a kid then they were gone. They brought them back a few years ago and took them away again. They were my favorite cookies.

I also grew up with the great taste of Mama\'s Cookies. I guess I was luckier than most because the factory was just few miles from my home in Chicago.

In the 70s-80s, I "put up" cookies and crackers at the then-existing Chatham Supermarkets in the metro Detroit area. Whether it was during open hours or on night crew, we sold at least a case/day. BRING THEM BACK! (My nostalgia for things genuinely good is lonely...) :o)

Loved mama's cookies...any news on them? Also, does anyone remember a chip commercial from the 70's or 80's where the person is eating chips in the desert and there mouth gets so dry, but they can't stop eating them? What was this commercial for?

They used to sell these at my campus cafeteria in the mid 80's. Two big-ass cookies for only 50 cents. And so much sugar! Gives me a head-rush just thinking about it.

Who makes the oyster crackers? Maybe we can start a campaign to get them to make the cookies too???? I read that story that the Business Courier had - why didn't they keep making them??? Everyone I know who grew up here loves those cookies!

I just bought Trader Joe's new Meyer Lemon Cookie Thins, and it brought back a flash of Mama's Cookies like nothing before or since. They are pricey for cookies ($4.99/box), but if you loved Mama's the way I loved Mama's, they are worth every last cent.

I am originally from Ohio and absolutely loved the Mama's Sugar Cookies. I would trade anything right now for a box of those cookies. As many of you have stated, I tried to explain to my children just how good these cookies were and they will never know unless we can find the company to produce them again as a flashback item. Happy hunting to find something similiar

I too was a Mama's fan. The closest thing today is a cookie by Anna's. You can find them at Meijer I think and also sometimes at Big Lots, but they just aren't the same.

My Grandmother and Father worked at Mama's cookies in the 60's through early 80's. The factory was then located next to the Ford City Shopping Mall in Chicago on Kostner and 72nd st. They'd often come home with bags full of goodies, those were the days!!! Mama's was sold to Salerno's located in Niles, Il. in the early 8o's. They continued for some years to package and distribute cookies with the Mama's logo but eventually fazed them out.

LOVED Mama's Cookies...they were given away on the 'Uncle Al Show'. We grew up in Covington, KY and you could purchase them for 99 cents per box...they were thin, round and had holes in the middle...they came in many flavors, choc, lemon, vanilla, pecan and macaroon...Wonderful cookies....wish they were still made.
