Description
They were chocolate cookies with a hole in the middle and sugar sprinkled on top. I can't find them anywhere. They were out when I was a kid then they were gone. They brought them back a few years ago and took them away again. They were my favorite cookies.

I also grew up with the great taste of Mama\'s Cookies. I guess I was luckier than most because the factory was just few miles from my home in Chicago.

In the 70s-80s, I "put up" cookies and crackers at the then-existing Chatham Supermarkets in the metro Detroit area. Whether it was during open hours or on night crew, we sold at least a case/day. BRING THEM BACK! (My nostalgia for things genuinely good is lonely...) :o)

Loved mama's cookies...any news on them? Also, does anyone remember a chip commercial from the 70's or 80's where the person is eating chips in the desert and there mouth gets so dry, but they can't stop eating them? What was this commercial for?

They used to sell these at my campus cafeteria in the mid 80's. Two big-ass cookies for only 50 cents. And so much sugar! Gives me a head-rush just thinking about it.

I have been looking for the white shortbread cookies with the red jam in the middle. They were Mama's cookies too, right? Are they out of business?
Susan - July 15, 2008 - Report this comment
Who makes the oyster crackers? Maybe we can start a campaign to get them to make the cookies too???? I read that story that the Business Courier had - why didn't they keep making them??? Everyone I know who grew up here loves those cookies!
