Description
It went away, but now they have it back on the $ menu. It was the first wavy in chicken sandwich popualrity in the 80's. Call me crazy but it was better than all the redesigns for the chix sand since.

I always loved burgers they were my favorite but I have to admit back in the 80's I just loved McChicken sandwichs. There were as good as a burger! But what they have on the menu now is NOT the same thing. It's much much MUCH smaller it's not a sandwich it's a snack. The patty is more filler and less chicken than it used to be and frequenlty the lettuce is wilted. It's really hit or miss. But the truth is to save money they made it smaller and well....it's just not the same. Why can't restaurants just leave a good thing alone?

I worked at McD's back then and when it was time for my break, I'd grab a McChicken and put cheese on it. Mmm, it was good.

Okay, from what I can tell the McChicken came out in 1980, disappeared around 1983, came back in 1988, disappeared in 1996, and then came back in 1998. Got all that? lol There is a nice commercial on youtube from 1980 introducing it

There is also a 1988 commercial (when it was newly returned) for it offering free samples during a limited time. Never heard of McDonalds giving out free samples!

I've never tried a McChicken sandwich and I have no desire to do so. They're not as good as the Crispy Chicken sandwiches.
