In New Zealand they still deep-fry the apple pies! We havent had cherry to my knowlege, but we have had blackcurrent!

I loved the cherry ones..I wished they still had them ! I liked the little bubbles on the top from them being deep fried.

I loved these pies too. I did figure out an alternative.I Took won ton dough,and filled it with canned apple pie filling that I cut into smaller cube sized pieces,and added a little extra cinnamon and sugar to the filling. You put it in the won ton dough and seal it up into a pocket. Then deep fry them. You can also do this with cherry filling too.

You can get these at Hardees which is owned by Carl's Jr. so I think they might sell them too. I think I even saw them at Roy Rogers. Still deep-fried in Spain's McDonalds!

I miss the deep fried ones also, since when does McD's care about cutting back the grease and going baked? FYI if any one reading this has a KFC ( Kentucky Fried Chicken) by them, they have the deep fried apple ones and they ROCK...and so did the 80's!

The Mcdonald's across the street where I work in Aurora, IL still has the deep fried apple ones..they taste just like the good ol' days and still come in that envelope packaging! they are AWSOME!!!i cant tell you the joy i experienced when i ordered a pie expecting to get the baked one in my bag and i opened it up only to discover the old fried ones. i swear...the baked ones are just as bad for you..they may as well have left them. you dont go to mcdonalds to eat healthy!

Church chicken still has fried apple and cherry pies . They have a little ribbon of frosting on top.

Who remembers the scandal when it was found out that McD's was using grapes in their cherry pies? We used to order "grape pies" all the time until they were finally discontinued. But my favorite f-f pies were the deep-fried lemon ones from Jack In The Box (we're talkin' years ago!)

In texas, Whataburger chains still sell deep fried apple pies, and ocassionally lemon pies. They're delicious!

You can get deep fried apple pies from A&W. They are not as good as McD's were but they are pretty darn good.they call them apple turnovers though. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm sooo goood.

McD in Italy still has the deep fried pies. I wrote the company about these apple pies and they said 1300 stores in the us that still have the deep fried pies. Please write McD and let tehm know how you feel. They have started getting rid of the carmel sundaes. We have to draw the line somewhere.

we have to flood their offices with letters demanding the immediate return of the apple pie. we should also start a telephone campaign in which we call 10 mcdonalds a night and ask them if they sell deep fried apple pies

In October of 2008, McDonalds in Key west Fl. had fried apple pies. A trip down memory lane, would rather have been cherry!!

I have a buddy who lives in Dubai, and he tells me not only do they still fry the pies, but they are extremely popular items at the end of Ramadan, as they very closely resemble a traditional pastry eaten at the close of the holiday.

They still make them in Australia. There was a big scandal that they were using Choko (a vegetable) instead of Apples because apples were too expensive and Choko's were cheaper lol

Its been a few years since I've had a cherry pie at McDonald's so I picked up a pair of McDonald apple pies (they don't have cherry anymore?) last night for a $1 and did a double-take ... what commie regime took over and now serve flat, microwaved, uninspired leftovers with just enough impersonated apple-sauce to call it "fruit-filled"? Searching around, I found this site an it brought me back to the flaky goodness of scrumptious, mouth-watering, always steaming and nearly too-hot-to-eat cherry pies they used to serve at McDonald's restaurants.

The fried apple pies from Popeye's taste just as good.

Does anyone know a company that sells these that you can cook yourself?

If you want the closest thing to those little apple delights.... go to taco bell and pick up the apple empanada! they are the closest thing to those fried crispy apple goodies!!!

I recall the cherry and apple pies that sold year-round and our neighborhood McDonald's sold Pumpkin during November and December. We'd pick them up and bring them home to eat with Cool-whip. I only find apple now and they aren't the same as they used to be.

I LOVE McD's cherry pies and have been disappointed over the last few years at how few sell cherry pies. When I find one that sells them I mark it on my calendar. Cherry rulz. After being denied for so long, I am do not even care if they are baked or fried. They are crispy and yummy.

The fried pies were the BEST!!!! Don't care for the plain Jane version they sell today. I want the greasy version with the crispy bubbles! Checkers has something very similar (at least they did about a year ago).
