Description
For only a Christmas season or two, McDonald's had a peppermint sundae, which had a green mint syrup. Delicious! I wish they'd bring it back.

Those were awesome. They need to be permanently on the menu.

They were different than Shamrock Shakes. These were at Christmas time and they were awesome. They had a RED peppermint sauce on it though, not green.

yea, it was RED topping, not green. I think it had to be 1988 or 1989

I remember these. They had peppermint sundaes and peppermint shakes. I would guess it ran each for from 87-89? During my "mall rat" years.

I must've missed those, or they never had it in my area to begin with. Whatever, they sounded good.

Yes, it was only at Christmas, the sauce was red (not green) and they were out around 88 or 89-ish (this is also when they had the Muppet Babies holiday-themed stuffed animal that you could purchase -- I so miss the cheezy items you could purchase, from fast food restaurants, in the 80s - all of the glasses, etc were so awesome!)

Yes, the other posters are correct... The sundae's topping was actually red. It was good and I wish they'd bring it back. I also remember the muppet baby stuffed animals mentioned above (I had Kermit and my sister had ms. Piggy. I also remember when mcdonalds sold those Christmas ornaments of disneys the rescuers... I used to eat at mickey d's often as a child lol

It was definitely available in 89 as part of their holiday treats menu. There was orange sauce for the chicken nuggets, an eggnog milkshake, and the peppermint sundae. No mention of the peppermint being available in a milkshake though.

This was my favorite dessert ever, and was my obsession when I was pregnant with my daughter -- Christmas 1992, so they were around a little longer than the 80s!
