Description
McDonald's McLean Deluxe was rumored to be made out of all sorts of things, but actually was made with extra-lean beef. Very tasty IMHO, but unfortunately died in the early '90s along with most '80s diet food.

If this is the same burger in which the patty was placed on the bottom bun in one compartment and the lettuce, tomato, cheese and condiment dressed bun were in another until the customer placed the two halves together for consumption?... this shouldve never left it was the tastiest burger ive ever eaten then or since.

I remember the McLean Deluxe quite well, even though I was a kid. The flavor itself wasn't that bad, it was just way too dry. I suppose that was due to the extra-lean beef, which you can't cook like regular ground beef. They must have tried to fix the "dry problem" by throwing a mound of veggies on it. My most vivid memory of the McLean Deluxe is the copious amount of lettuce falling off of it when you opened the package.

I remember serving these when I worked at McDonald's back in the 90's and once in a while I tried one when I was in the rare mood to eat something healthier. Well, I tried to like this and it just didn't taste right. So now it's no surprise they removed it from the menu. If McDonald's is going to come up with something healthy but good, they'll have to do a little better than the McLean.

I suppose this tasted better than Mickey D's Hawaiian Burger-all the fixings of a regular burger, but instead of a beef patty, you got a flame-broiled pineapple slice! It was sold back in the 60's as a solution to Catholics not being able to eat meat on Fridays. Needless to say, it was a flop.

Hi, I really do miss the McLean Deluxe. I always ordered mine with cheese back in the 1980s and 1990s. Whenever I try something that I really like, it ALWAYS goes off the market! Too bad.

For being extra-lean it wasn't too bad. If you want low-fat don't expect it to taste like a Big Mac!

Was actually a 90's food- came out in 1991. It was made with a 91% fat-free burger
