The first time I had this was probably at Target and I was probably 10 maybe. I t's just a rip off of Mountain Dew.

Troy - October 04, 2008 - Report this comment
YES, they STILL MAKE MELLO YELLO! It is kind of hard to find, the only chain in my area (Indianapolis) that carries it is Kroger food, but the Kroger grocery company has stores all over, just under different names, so check! I am sure it is still available nationwide.

They definitely still make Mello Yello. It used to be HUGE here in the South (I live in NC -- especially when I was in high school. I've seen it at the lower end grocery chains like Food Lion.

Once they removed Crystal Pepsi, I moved to drinking Mello Yello really quick when I was little.

Diet Mello Yello is the only good tasting diet drink I've ever encountered, but I haven't seen it in stores in about 5 years.

Mello Yello is my absolute favorite soda!! It's still all over here in Minnesota, practically all stores carry it. I've been drinking it since I was little and have never ceased.

Definitely not a rip off of Mountain Dew. A completely different and better taste than Mountain Dew. Most of the Pepsi Cola products pale in comparison to the Coca Cola Company. And Mello Yello is definitely still around in the Southeast.

i remember drinking this in australia as a kid it has been gone for 15-20 years, why?
MrTroy - August 26, 2009 - Report this comment
Dave, I don't think they make diet mello yellow anymore. The only thing left is 12 pack regular, not even 24 pack!
Sheila - August 30, 2009 - Report this comment
I didn't even know there was a diet Mello Yello. The regular Mello Yello is getting increasingly harder to find here in IL. About 2 weeks ago I caught it on sale at a Hyvee grocery store for 3/ $9.00. They only had 8 cases so I bought them all. I guess I hoard it out of fear of it being discontinued. It's my all time favorite.

Mello yello is by far the best soda ever!!!! I moved from minnesota approx. 5 years ago to southern Utah and it isn't available anywhere here in the southwest. I have inquired at the coke store on the Las Vegas strip about getting cans or bottles of mello yello but they are no help. At least they sell mello yello from the soda fountain. Now when I go back to MN to visit my parents it costs me alot of money to import by airplane back to Utah! they need to bring this back around the country.
MrTroy - September 26, 2009 - Report this comment
Jason, and those where it is not available locally, you can buy it here: http://sodafinder.com/products/mello-yello, but it is very expensive.
Sheila - October 17, 2009 - Report this comment
Sodafinder.com gets a premium price for hard to find sodas. IIRC.... a 12 pk of Mello Yello is something like $24.00. Total rip off. Hopefully, the Coke company will realize there is high demand for this delicious drink, and start distributing it nationwide again. Email them and tell them you want it back in your area. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!

We still have this in Arkansas...12 packs, 20oz bottles, and some places have it in ntheir fountain machines. Sodafinder has it for $24 a 12 pack...WOW, that's ridiculous.

Recently moved back to Indianapolis from Arizona and along the drive I checked every gas station I stopped at for Mello Yello. Finally found it just outside St Louis and can find it at the Village Pantrys here in Indy, 20 oz bottle only for about $1.49. A few restaurants still have it as a fountain drink, but those are slowly disappearing as well. I had NO idea there was DIET Mello Yello back in the day!

How ironic...the day after my post above I go to a Jimmy Johns I haven't been to in over 3 years and they have Mello Yello at the fountain and then in the same day I am out shopping at a Super Wal-Mart I don't usually go to and they have 12 packs of Mello Yello cans for $3.58 Heaven!
