Description
The traditional mix of the early to mid-80s consisted of the following colors (in order of my personal preference): Green, TAN, Yellow, Brown, Orange. No disgusting red or unnecessary blue in there to screw up the delicate color palette. Man, M&M/Mars needs to make a reissue of 'Vintage' style M&Ms mixes with NO red or blue. I bet they'd sell like crazy, thanks to nutcases like me.

Tan ones are still available at the m&m website. You can them any color on there. If you want tan ones, try that.

I don't remember the tan ones tasting any different, myself, but I DO remember when they were in each packet. I also like the idea of M&Ms releasing an 80's variety with no red or blue!

The tan ones were my second-to-least favorite (the least being the dark brown). Yes, I have to sort them by color and eat them least to most favorite! :P

Actually, the candy coating all tastes the same--just different colors. My favorite color is blue, so I'm glad the blue ones kicked out the tan ones.

Tan was available from 1950-1995. The number that was called in 1995 to vote on a replacement color (blue) was 1-800-fun-color

I fondly remember the tan ones. Didn't they do away with them when they brought in the red ones? I vaguely remember reading that they did away with red ones because of some controversy over the red dye being bad for your health. They had the tan ones to replace them. Then when the hoopla over the red dye was found to be untrue (or they started using something else, don't remember), they brought the red ones back. Maybe this isn't totally how it went, but I seem to remember the tan ones disappearing when the red ones came back.
