this was in fact from the 70's. a commercial ran forever in the late 70's in LA and the song went like this: "Sometimes I get tired, of the same old things each day, But i found a way to eat my breakfast 7 different ways, my my moondust, moondust, my my moondust, Real Fruit, Sugar Toppins'" This was a very cheap commercial that had a kid eating cereal. The kid was dressed as a cowboy but the song was not sung by the kid, it was sung my an adult with a vaguely "country" accent. I always wanted to try this but I don't think my mom ever bought it. I think it was also trying to catch a rising star on the hot hot hot fad of "Space Dust" otherwise known as "Pop Rocks".

Remember Koogle? This is another product that BOMBED on the market back in the day. It joined other failures like COOKIN' EASE, PRIME CHOICE, THE SINK MASHEEN, AND SNO BOL. ARGH!!!

Oh man! I've had the "song" for this cereal topping in my head off and on since the 70's! I ALWAYS Thought it was"mama" Moondust, not "my my" Moondust! You've solve a 35 year old mystery for me! Thanks! Just wish I could find the actual commercial somewhere. Thanks so much! Hedzred@me.com

Pretty funny! Our son was the little boy with the cowboy hat. We watched that add everyday multiple times for a couple of weeks! We got a case of Moon Dust for his doing it. Since I've always been anti-sugar, we didn't eat much of it.

I was a kid in L.A. back in the 70’s, and this jingle has been in my head for forty friggin’ years... and I thought I was going mad, because everyone who I’d sing this to (mah-mahh-mooon dust!) they made me feel like I was in the Twilight Zone or something. The melody always reminded me of the Beatles’ song “I’m a Loser”... but I just couldn’t figure out what the commercial was — until today! I just saw an article on the news regarding NASA making cockroaches snort... you guessed it... moon dust! As soon as I read it — the Beatles tune popped in my head, and voila! Here I am! Vindicated! Although I still feel as if I’m in the Twilight Zone, which is irrelevant now... at least I can finally feel as all the years of therapy has paid itself off! Thank you internet! Thank you! Now, if I can only find that commercial...

Hahaha, the song went: "mah-mahh-mooon dust." And it did rhyme with the Beatles' song "I'm, a Loser" and that little boy is now 53 years old with 8 kids and three grandkids. I should know; I'm his mom!
