I remember these! I was looking for the commercial and can't seem to find it? If anyone can help me out. That would be great. :)

Were they an 80's thing or a 90's thing? I seem to remember them only being around for a short time in early to mid 1990's. In any event, they were good. I'm surprised they don't have some other kind of pretzel chip out there, it seems like a very logical snack food.

They were around in the 90s. Just found a package of "pretzel crisps" from the snack factory at Kroger and they are a close reminder of my fav pretzel chips no longer available :0)

I would pay $20 for a box of the sweet sweet Phipps. I heard the Romanian mob has a stash.

I was so crazy about Pretzel Chips that I would even take them in the car with me. Is it true they can't be bought anywhere?

It happened around the year of '90, maybe '91. Mr. Phipps' Pretzel Chips™. I seem to recall several different flavors, although I only tried them several times. I was in the first grade at the time, and sometimes my teacher would hand them out to students who answered questions correctly. This became too expensive, however, and she switched to Honeycomb™ cereal shortly thereafter.

I still have a coupon for 50 cents off any variety - Original, Lightly Salted or Sesame. There's even a picture on the coupon.

I remember when I was about 7 or 8 we found a oily screw from a machine in our Mr. Phipps... my mom sent them a nasty letter (snail mail, because internet was uncommon) and one day when we came home from school there was a giant box of Mr. Phipps pretzel chips, cookies, and crackers on our front porch. This box was probably as tall as me. I think they didn't want us to sue. I wonder if someone else found an oily screw in their Mr. Phipps and did sue and that's why they don't make them anymore...

I suddenly had a craving for these tiny treats and low and behold they no longer make them! Rachel, you will never read this, but I love your post.

Hell yeah I remember them. I was really young, it had to be like 91 ish. I remember how the commercial went a little bit. At the end it would be like "Mr phipps.....(then you'd hear a biting sound) Pretzle chips"

I loved these, and have found similar "pretzel chips" that just are not the same. Isn't there an eccentric millionaire that loved these as much as I did, and can pay to bring them back. I'm sure that the product would do well, or maybe not I just want some.

I remember being a bill collector and tracking down a Nabisco executive in New Jersey, he said he had a lot on his mind and that's why he hadn't been able to return my calls ("tell him he needs to call Mr. Phipps, it's imperative"). I asked what was on his mind (figuring if we could resolve that we could resolve the debt). He told me that he was busy trying to come up with a new name for a new pretzel chip that Nabisco was launching soon. I said, "I'll make it easy for you, call it 'Mr. Phipps' chips, now let's talk about getting your bill paid." The rest is pretzel chip history.

I remember thinking at the time that they should expand the line to include "Mr. Phipps Mayonnaise Chips." Alas, it never happened :(.

These were actually named after my uncle, whom gave Nabisco product advice in as a management consultant. He did them such a good job, they made a brand after our family last name "Phipps". Being a british family, they put a bowler hat on the logo as a nod to my uncle.
