Description
I remember small plastic nerd shaped containers filled with nerds, you either took the nerds head off to get to the candy or you got them out of the bottom i cant remember. The container was the color of the nerds inside.

I remember these too. No one I've ever talked to has heard of this but I looked it up on Wikipedia and it says "One of the most unusual ways of introducing these new flavors to the market was with small, plastic "Nerd" figures/toys (about 2-3 inches in height), which were hollow and contained the candies within. The color of the figure corresponded to the flavor of the candy (also printed on the access cap on the bottom of the toy)" It also says "there are very few of the toy figures in existence today, and these would most likely be perceived as collector's items." I wish I still had some. Grape was the best

These were awesome! Kinda reminded me of the colorful gravel on the bottom of fish tanks!

You could always order some Nerds stuff. Usually it was the t-shirt or the little Nerds figure with a sticky tongue. I've never heard of anyone ordering it though...

Awesome that someone else remembers the plastic containers! I don't understand why they're rare, one could find them ALL the time where I grew up, but these things are regional, I guess. I always chose the red one. Cherry Nerds were the best. I would always compare the tiny candies to the container and lament that they looked nothing like the Nerd character. The opening was a plastic flip-type lid on the base...I've got some of these around in a box somewhere still. I miss the old-school Nerd flavors. Cherry, grape, orange. It seems like all they now are exxxtreme-type mutant flavors. Blah.

My 4 year old is obsessed with the nerds that have 2 flavors inside. He refuses to share them with me. LOL. Can't blame him. I loved getting them in my trick or treat bag at Halloween.

The thing I miss most about Nerds candy is getting Nerds Blizzards at Dairy Queen. At my local DQ You once had the option of which flavor, out of I think six at the time. Cherry was my favorite, but Orange not far behind. They eventually switched to just having Rainbow Nerds as an option, nowhere near as good.

The lemon and lime nerds were the best. I don't think they sell those flavors anymore.

Now here's a candy that has stood the test of time. I used to get Nerds a lot when I was a kid and still enjoy them as an adult.
