Description
Still available in some remote places, I think. Came in a purple bag. The theme song, which I still sing on occasion, was "New York Deli, my purple passion!"

On weekends my entire family would congregate at my grandparents house and we'd eat hoagies for lunch. My aunts and grandmother would always send me to the store to buy them these chips to go along with their sandwiches. They tasted good, just too hard & crunchy for my liking.

They came in a purple wrapper and had a commercial where the lady would sing "New York Deli, my purple passion!"

My favorite were the ones in the red bag: Jalapeno! BTW ~ saw them today at Pathmark, marketed by Wise, but the same purple passion bag and taste.

New York Deli chips purple bag came out in the mid 80's. This was the pre-kettle chip days. Crunchier than Wise chips. Now almost every brand makes kettle chips.
