Description
Kind of hard to describe....the best way, I guess, is a waffle-type cheese-flavored chip in circles about as big as half dollars with a very cheesy center...........strange but good.

Sharp, savory, cheddar flavor. I can't believe they aren't the top-selling snack of all time. I still find them now and then. Yummy. Also very high in calories :-(

I remember them as Cheese Waffies. I loved them, but thought they were long out of production . . . until just recently. I haven't seen them in the local stores in my area (Philadelphia PA) for quite some time, but I guess I just wasn't looking hard enough. Now that I know what they're called, I can't wait to get my hands on some. Ahhhh . . . a taste from my youth.

I'm sorry to tell you but cheese waffies or waffles have been around since the 60's and I'm kinds sure that Old London Wise and Borden were one company back in the 60's Wise Cheese doodles used the Old London name also-keep looking they can be hard to find but there out there Under Wise now.

I miss the " Old London Cheese Doodles from back in the 70's. They were without the best flavored, cheesy tasting cheese doodle on the market. I have NOT had one since then that equalled it in flavor. I would love it if they still made and sold them.. My grandkids would then know what a Real Cheese Doodle can taste like...

Didn't they used to come in a cardboard tube???
Larry - October 28, 2009 - Report this comment
The original ones came in a tube. I remember my dad bringing them home in the 50's.

Yes, they did come in a tube back then. Dad use to bring them home from the navy exchange. I loved them. Missed them for so many years until I found them again. Now I can only order them from Wise(cheaper shipping charges) because they are not foind in New Mexico. I love them. Childhood memories with Cheez Waffies!

I use to find them at Publix Supermarkets in Miami but haven't for the past two years, please put them back in the Stores. I love them.

No longer made by Old London. Email direct from Old London advises the company has "sold the waffle product line" though it did not say to whom. Also advised to shop for similar products by Wise or Martin.

Growing up in NJ in the '50's we used to go to lunch at Baumgarts in Englewood as a special treat. My Mom & Dad would purchase a can of Cheez Waffies for each of us (me and my 2 sisters). I missed theses litte crunchie delights for a long time (and they did come in Blue cheese flavor, too). HOWEVER....on our way home from church one Sunday we had to stop and get milk at the Stop & Shop, my husband as usual, wandered in the snack aisle and found my beloved Cheez Waffies. Needless to say the bag didn't last the ride home. So we now we find some excuse to stop to purchase 3 or 4 bags after church. By the way we do live on the East coast.

Wise Cheez Waffies are available on Amazon. I just got 15 bags for $39!! Well, that was 3 days ago and there are only 6 bags left. I haven't seen them in a Store for years-the last time was in the Chicago are about 12 years ago. I think aold London sold out to Wise. I was still buying Old London brand in the 90's in Indpls. Cardboard tube of cheddar or Swiss. Have loved them most of my life (from the 50's). I wish I hadn't found them on Amazon because I'm readdicted!! Good luck! Oh, shipping was free. May have been Prime but I'm not sure.

The Waffle Cheese Snacks that The Vermont Country Store sells and some say taste like the Old London Cheddar Cheese Waffle Snacks...are absolutely not like the "Old London Cheddar Cheese Waffles" of years ago. The Cheese Waffle's sold by the Vermont Country Store are a poor imitation. I ordered four bags and the waffle were all over baked and the cheese feeling was almost tasteless. If you're looking for the good-old days of Old London...save your money because you'll be disappointed as I was.

Just finished my 2 oz bag of wffle snack and could not believe it was not the Old London product, so googled the manufacturer, Silk City Snacks and discovered this company in NJ purchased the New London product, including the machinery, from New London's Bronx location, and is now remaking our popular snack. Wish them well!

Had a dream about them a couple weeks ago, have no idea why. Then found this website with comments, sought them out at the Giant Eagle in Columbus, and Bazinga! Found them in bags on the lowest shelf of the snack aisle, almost hidden. Still delicious.

back in the 60's, Old London Cheese Doodles were so good. Totally different than Wise Cheez Doodles today. They used to be thinner and SOFT and delicious. Today they're okay but too crispy, similar flavoring but nothing as good as the Old London brand. Would love to have the old ones again!

Old London cheese waffles (crackers) go back to the 50's--possibly late 40's. They were a special snack treat when visiting Grandma.--loved the tube container they were housed in----;) also

The Old London cheese waffle snacks were packed in tubes in the fifties, as some fans have pointed out. My broand I would scarf on them in front of the TV. Good old days!

I'm afraid Cheez Waffies (whether Wise or Old London) have gone defunct, I can't find them anywhere anymore! I have an email into Wise Foods, hopefully they will respond.
Buck - March 04, 2019 - Report this comment
I heard back from Wise very quickly. The email below indicates they hope to begin producing Cheez Waffies again soon! Let's keep our fingers crossed! ----------------------- From: snackmaster@wisesnacks.com Date: March 04, 2019 Dear Buck: Thank you for contacting us regarding your question.
