Description
The Polar bar was a square-shaped chocolate-covered ice cream bar wrapped in foil. It was similar to a Klondike bar, but bigger and creamier (or so I remember.) I think there was some sort of food poisoning scare that caused the brand to be discontinued sometime in the late 80's.

If I'm not mistaken, Polar Bars came out before Klondike Bars. Eskimo Pies are similar.

I remember Polar Bars. I used to call them Polar Bear bars. They were square vanilla ice cream covered in hard chocolate & they were frozen with a silver foil wrapper with the photo of a polar bear. I remember the food scare. It was July 1986 on the weekend & we had eaten these things the prior day. My mom took us all to the ER to see if anything could be done but they told us we'd be ok. They were great to eat though.

I worked for Ambrit as a lawyer. We represented Klondike Bar which was copied by Kraft foods who sold the Polar Bar. Klondike bars were created in the 1920s and Polar Bar in the 1980s. Krafts evil copying practices was so good that when the Listera scare came about people thought wrongly that the Klondike bars were also impacted when in fact they were not at all. Klondike sales ground to a halt nevertheless.
