Pop a Rouge - Strawberry flavored soda (but it didn't really taste like strawberry it really tasted like cream soda.

This used to be made in Lafayette, Louisiana. I have no idea WHY they stopped making it, but do I ever miss the heck out of it.
I have two 10oz bottles of Pop Rouge. One has a metal cap and one has a plastic cap. I wonder if they are worth anything now days?

Wow, I thought I was the only one who remembered or even cared about Pop Rouge! I too miss it and would like to know why they stopped making it.

My favorite was Pop Rouge and BBQ Fritos. Never forget that combo :-)
try Faygo Big Red - same thing
The closes drink I can find that tastes like Pop Ruoge is Barqus Red cream soda. But just not quite it
Nc has a drink called cheerwine ..sounds like pop rouge

barq's red cream and Fanta strawberry mixed in equal parts is the closest I've come to pop pouge enjoy
I could be wrong because I haven't had Pop Rouge since the 80's but had Inca Cola in Peru and it reminds me of Pop Rouge! You can find Inca Cola in the USA, its distributed by Coca-Cola and my local Publix (grocery store) has it. See if your local grocery store will order some and give it a try!
Cheerewine is like cherry coke. Not the same thing at all. My MawMaw always gave us a scoop of Blue Bunny Vanilla ice cream with Pop Rouge poured over it as a treat. Want to introduce it to my kids now. Guess I'll have to experiment with the Fanta, Barqus and Big Red and see if we can get close to it.

BTW, Swamp Pop makes a Ponchatoula Pop Rouge. You guys have got to try this - its amazing. It brought back so many great memories.
Swamp Pop in Lafayette, LA makes a Pop Rouge flavor you can get at Rouses and other stores, but it's a strawberry soda, not a red cream soda. It is really delicious, though!
Swamped pop tastes nothing like Pop A Rouge. I was very much looking forward to it and after was extremely disappointed.
My grandfather used to sell them in his shop. They came in little tiny bottles I’ve never really seen that I can think of. I think of it all the occasion. Man i’ll have to try these suggestions. Glad I found a forum. I looked once before & didn’t see somehow. Papa Rouge!
They stopped making it when it was discovered the red die used to make it caused cancer.
I remember My Maw Maw would always send me to the store to buy her a 6 Pack or a 2 Liter back in the 80s.!. I sure do miss Pop Rouge.!.
I looked up Pop Rouge just because I had bought a two litre of Foodclub strawberry soda, and was surprised that it tasted like Pop Rouge. I haven't had it in decades, but I swear, that cheapo soda tasted just like it. I had expected regular strawberry.
The closest I’ve found is Dublin Bottling “Texas Red Creme” that with a scoop of Blue Belle Homemade Vanilla is incredible.
