I used Soup Starter in the 70's and 80's. Then it disappeared...online a message states that Wylers Mrs. Grass Hearty Soup is Soup Starter renamed (Beef).

I have been looking for Soup Starter also. It came in a heavy paper cannister and I thought it was a Campbells product. Today all the stores have starters that are mush mixes. The Soup Starter had chucks of carrot celery beef and was a great mix.

I am sure Soup Starter was still around in the early 90's (since I only became somewhat of an adult during that time) - I loved Soup Starter and have been scouring store shelves for it - Sure hate that it has disappeared!

How weird that I found this site about 'Soup Starter'. I was just in my local Wal-Mart looking for the 'Stew Starter' version of this product. I'm so sorry to read it's gone but I will look for the 'Mrs. Grass Hearty Soup'. Hopefully I can use it as a good stew base.

I developed Homemade Soup Starter in the 80's. It was sold to Beatrice when Swift & Co. was sold to them. It was one of my favorite developments. I reciently saw the Wylers product and it looks much like the original starter but the seasoning was modified and uses less vegetables.

Ok so I am not losing it!! I have searched for past month for Wylers Soup Starter to no avail! Now know it's not out there, keep seeing Bear Creek brand and tried but just not the same....Some things should be left alone, sorry to hear gone.

Use to eat soup starter as a kid. LOVE Mrs. Grass soup mixes but Publix quit carrying them and you are right, Bear Creek brand doesn't compare. Amazon has the homestyle chicken noodle as an option but it is sold out. I found another site that sells it by the case, 8 packs, for about $32. I think it was factorydirect.com or factoryfooddirect.com. I'll post again if this isn't right. Mrs. Grass is a Wyler's product, which is part of Heinz. You can go to either wylers or mrs. grass website and there is a phone number to call. There are all other types of flavors besides chicken noodle, also.

I want my Chicken Soup Starter back! My family and I loved that stuff. Why someone needs to improve things that are so enjoyable? I can't find anywhere in the Asheville, NC area Wyler's Soup. Tried once Bear Creek and well, I won't comment besides Bear Creek is no way near what Soup Starter used to be. I want my Soup Starter back. Is anyone listening?

Almost beat up the store manager when I couldn't find my Soup Starter and only found Bear (yukky) Creek. He told me if I could find a code for it he would order it. What happened? Why don't they leave the good stuff alone?

Was cleaning out my pantry and found Wyler's Soup Starter mix, three of them, with expiration dates of Aug 2000! Wonder if they are still good, never been opened. We loved them.

Beef Barley was our favorite. Looked for it for years. At first thought local stores stopped carrying it--then figured it was gone for good! Would also like to see it come back. Just like everything--good stuff gets axed!

I have been looking for this product as well! It's great to see that I am not the only one who loved this product growing up. It was so convient for us who just wanted to throw everything in a pot and let it cook to perfection!!!!! Why oh why take it away??????

Soup starter was great. Start with some fresh chicken and it was unbeatable. But like so many GOOD things its gone forever. One wonders why. It was like the old "Itza Pizza" frozen pizzas, the only ones that tasted good. The premium RC cola, Ppepsi throwback coke C-2.
