A sparkling (carbonated) fruit juice in (what I remember to be) combined flavors. Similar to Clearly Canadian in taste, but were colored to suit the type of "juice" used in the drink.

I loved this drink when i was a little girl. You could only get it at a health food store . It was kind of expensive then and i got it for a treat. I loved it and want to know where i can buy some now!!!!!!!!

These were great! My favorite was the kiwi-lime flavor. Sundance was WAY better than Clearly Canadian, in my opinion. There's not really much comparison between the two! Clearly Canadian was like flavored water, but Sundance actually had "body" to it ... more like a soft drink. I loved this stuff and have many great childhood memories of it. Wish it was still on the market.

I love the Cranberry and I have not seen it anywhere since about 1991 in Michigan. I would by it if I could find it again.

they were sugar free too! I loved the cranberry on a hot afternoon.light flavor and way better for you than a coke. I miss them, it was my favorite.

Yes, they were expensive. I found a Black Currant one in my grandmother's basement refrigerator about a year after they had gone off the market. It was a pleasant last chance.

I used to love these! My parents were health nuts so we always had this on hand. I remember being so excited when I would see them in the background on tv shows ( I think Ellen Degenerous had some on her sitcom), I always thought no one else knew about them.

I loved Sundance Cranberry. My mom used to buy it for herself and we weren't allowed to have any because it was expensive. I'd take a nip every now and then. Once in a while she'd give a a full cup. I liked mine in a wine glass. Such a funny kid I was!

My mom was a total health freak...she wouldn't let us have soda because of the yellow #5 or red #whataver! :) So, she found Sundance at the health food store, and she would buy it as a treat. I would drink all of them in a day and she would get really mad. I think cranberry was the best!

Yes, I loved these when I was in high school around 1986 or so. They seemed to have been on the market only for a short time though...I only remember drinking them in the summer time. Just like a lot of people mentioned, I loved the Kiwi flavor! I think they added something in these though as they were pretty sweet. "Well, it's a natural time for a Sundance~" was the tune of the commercial.

Sundance was a treat for me and my sisters. Mom would let us get some when we had sleepovers. I really liked the cranberry flavor, but my all-time fav was apple, which wasn't around as long as the other flavors, not that they were around for long anyway. Just a few years.

Sundance fruit juice was a product of the stroh brewery company I don't know who bought the formulas/brand name when Strohs liquidated it's beverage business back in 1995. There was cranberry, orange, and kiwi flavors(maybe one more that I can't remember...the products were produced at the van nuys,ca & winston-salem,nc breweries.

WELL I FOUND THIS SITE AFTER GOOGLEING SUNDACE. I WAS HOPEING TO FIND WERE I COULD BUY IT. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT NO LONGER IS BEING SOLD. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS LIKE MELLO YELLO. YOU CANT BUY MELLO HERE IN NJ BUT IT IS STILL MADE AND SOLD ELSE WHERE. I WILL NEVER HAVE SUNDANCE AGAIN THATS SAD. I GUEES ILL BORE EVERYONE WITH MY SANDANCE STORY. MY YOUNGER BROTHER AND I GROW UP IN NEWARK NJ. WE WERE VERY POOR. FATHER WAS GONE MOM DID EVERYTHING SHE COULD. WE LIVED IN A POOR AREA AND WENT TO A POOR SCHOOL AND HAD POOR FRIENDS. TO TELL THE TRUTH I DONT THINK I KNEW I WAS POOR. THEN ONE DAY MY MOTTHER MET THIS GUY NAMED GEORGE AND OWER LIVES CHANGED FOR EVER. HE WAS NOT RICH BUT HE WAS DOING OK. HE GOT MY MOTHER A REALY GOOD JOB AND SHE LOVED IT. AFTER SCHOOL ONE MY BRO AND I WENT TO THE SITTERS HOUSE TILL 5PM WHEN MY MOTHER WOULD GET OFF WORK. TILL ONE DAY MY MOTHER TOLD ME GEORGE WILL BE WATCHING US ON FRIDAYS. THE FIRST FRI CAME AND YOUCOULD TELL HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH US. HE ASKED IF WE WANTED A SNACK AND OF COURCE WE SAID YES. WE SAT AT THE TABLE AND HE GAVE US EACH A BOTTLE OF SUNDANCE AND A BAG OF WISE WAFFERS WITH SHARP CHEDDER CHEESE IN THE MIDDLE. THEY STILL SELL THEM. SO FOR ABOUT A YEAR WE WOULD GO TO GEORGES EVERY WEEK AND GET THE SAME TREAT. THEN MY MOTHER AND GEORGE GOT MARRIED AND WE MOVED TO SOUTH NJ BY L.B.I. NICE HOUSE GREAT SCHOOLS AND JUST A WOUNDERFULL AREA. WE WERE NO LONGER POOR AND WE WANTED FOR NOTHING. WE HAD OWER OWN BEDROOMS A BOAT, COMPUTERS, AND ALL THE TOYS WE WANTED. EVERY SAT. MY MOM WOULD GO FOOD SHOPPING ONCE A WEEK AND GET US OWER SUNDANCE A CHIPS. I DONT THINK THERE WAS A HAPPIER PART OF THE WEEK THEN WHEN SHE GOT HOME AND MY BROTHER AND I WOULD RIP THROUGH THE BAGS SO WE COULD BUT THE SUNDANCE IN THE FREEZER SO IT WOULD GET COLDER FASTER. I GUEES THE POINT OF THIS STORY IS THAT WHEN WE WERE POOR AND WHEN WE WERE WELL OFF THERE WAS ONE THING THAT WE LOOKED FOWARD TO AND MADE US HAPPY. SUNDANCE! MY BROTHER IS NOW IN HIS MID 30S AND HAS TWO BOYS AROUND THE AGE OF THE TIME WE FIRST HAD SUNDANCE. BECUSE OF DISTANCE AND LIFE BEING SO BUSY I HAVE NOT SEEN THEM IN YEARS. BUT I WILL IN ABOUT THREE WEEKS. I WANT TO BRING THEM SOMETHING BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE INTO. THATS WHEN A THOUGHT ABOUT GEORGE AND THIS IS PROB. HOW HE FELT THE FIRST TIME WE CAME OVER. SO I THOUGHT LETS FIND SOME SUNDANCE AND A BAG OF CHIPS! EVERY KID WOULD LOVE THAT! WELL ON TO PLAN B....MONEY!

Sorry to burst everyones Sundance dream, but the stuff sold very well. I know I own a convience store in California, the company tried to expand too fast and they went bankrupt. They were to busy take buisness trips first class from San Diego to San Fransico, then to Vegas. They burned the whole company. A very good product no fructose, just cane juice sweetner. The kiwi lime was my favorite.

I remember these drinks very well. My sister and I loved them and would beg my mother to buy them for us. The Kiwi was the best followed closely by the orange flavor. There is a juice drink called IZZE that is remarkably like Sundance. You can but them in the grocery store or Walgreens or CVS Pharmacies.

Yeah....Reading these stories reminded me of when my dad bought Sundance. I was allowed to have them in the summer. I also loved the Black Currant flavor and Cranberry. I've never had a sparkling juice drink like that again...I'm in my late '30's. What got me to search Sundance was a friend's lonk on FB about Ocean Spray's sparkling juices...I'll try them, but I'm sure they can't compare to Sundance, lol

I remember as a kid me and some friends used to run off from day camp to this small general store. I used to get chewing tabacco, Sundance and Sugar Daddies. I remember thinking at the time they tasted like some alcoholic beverage, it was great. I really wish this stuff was around today. I wouldn't mind a taste of nostalgia. Brings back memories. I believe this is the only site that talks about it so far. When I try to tell people about it they dont have a clue of what I was talking about. Ahhh...

God, I miss that stuff. Nothing like the mixture of Bubble Tape and Cranberry Sundance. Reminds me of being a kid. I saw an old episode of Doogie Howser, M.D. a few years back where Doogie and Vinnie were knocking back a few Sundances--I nearly cried, knowing that I couldn't bring back that part of my life. From the research I've done online, Sundance was owned by Stroh's Beverage Company, the beer maker. Stroh's went under right around the time that Sundance went off the market. If that recipe's still around, or if somebody still has some bottles somewhere, I'd love to find it and reverse engineer it. The chemistry probably isn't too tough. In the meantime, though, there's IZZE, which comes pretty close to what I remember.

Wow, I am really happy to see that I was not the only person who enjoyed the Sundance Sparklers. My favorites was the Black Currant and the Kiwi Lime Mist. I used to buy them by the case and when I had "Special Friends" over, I would offer them a bottle the way a person offers a friend a beer. I am truly sadden to learn that no bottler has continued these great drinks. I see advertisements for the new soda stream product on TV. Perhaps, if there is someone who was connected to the original Sundance Company could come up with their own version (or even license their flavors to the soda stream company) judging from the folks on this message board like me, maybe the drinks can make a comeback. I would certainly be interested. Let's hope that happens...

I used to love this stuff. I would buy the large bottles mostly and, 8 or 9 bottles at a time. A bottle would last me about a day at the most and, I didn't let my kids drink it. Ididn't know it didn't have any sugar in it. I'm diabetic now so I could probably still drink it. I wish someone would get the formala and market it again. My favorite was raspberry.

Growing up there were very few treats. But one I got was a sweet relief. I was watching a childhood movie with my boys. Mom and dad save the world. The dad was drinking a sundance as they were flying through space. I was looking for it so I could share a child lhood joy with my own children. I am sad to read that you can't find any of it. I guess I will find something else from my childhood to show them.

Those who said Izze is like Sundance are correct. Sundance was a product of The Stroh Brewery Co back in the '80's and was GREAT and did sell well. If you look at the history of Izze you will see the name Greg Stroh. Yes, that's the connection. Izze is now part of Pepsi and is still an excellent product.

One night we had a bag supper on the way to a volleyball game and when we got off the bus the coach called us over and asked if we were drinking wine coolers and wanted to see the bottle. I haven't thought about Sundance Sparkling juice in ages. I'm 44 now, but during my pre-teen years the adults of my church would drink these on special occasions, and once you turned 13 you would be allowed to drink one,so you best believe I was soooo glad to turn 13 to enjoy a Sundance. I was crushed when they stopped appearing on store shelves. I now share the Welch's Sparkling juice with my son's as our "wine", but it's not the same. I would love to see it make a comeback.

Sundance was introduced around 1995 and was created by The Stroh Brewery Co. based out of Detroit, MI. Some smart fellow there realized that Stroh was a "beverage" company not just a brewery. They added the capability to mix juice and carbonated water at a couple of their breweries on dedicated lines and started bottling. The product was all natural 70% juice, 30% sparkling water - that's it. No additives - just natural juice bought in bulk and added to water. That's why it was as expensive as it was. Stroh management made a series of bad business decisions that ultimately led to their demise - one of them was selling off early in its growth stage this product line which was immensely profitable. It was sold to a venture capital firm who fumbled it and eventually it died. Forbes has a good article on the demise of the Stroh Family fortune "How To Blow $9 Billion: The Fallen Stroh Family"

We ended up with cases upon cases of the stuff when I was a kid and they had gone out of business. Probably for free if I know my Dad. Anyway, I drank them like they would be around forever, sometimes 3 or 4 in a single day. When the supply started to dwindle, I began to regret those days of excess. I seem to recall raspberry being my favorite. Good times.

Sundance Sparklers reign over all other sparklers because Sundance diluted the bubbly seltzer water wheras other similar type juices are full strength seltzer water which is sometimes stomach upsetting and can burn your mouth a bit when you drink it. Sundance had the perfect recipe.

Chris, You are correct about Sundance being owned by Strohs, but it actually was started earlier than 1995. I sold it to supermarkets in Cleveland, OH in the late 1980's. I'm thinking 1988(ish) because I left that company in 1990, so I know it was before then. It was a great product and I remember that it sold very, very well! the Supermarket category that it was sold into was called New Age Beverages. Sundance was introduced on the heels of New York Seltzers. The reason Strohs brewery got involved was the NY Seltzer was being sold by beer distributors at the time, so Strohs figured it made sense.

Oh my Gosh! I have been wracking my brain as I used to love this drink from I think 1987-90. I loved the raspberry flavour and cherry. It used to be sold in the Giant food stores and I think it was $1.50 or $2.00 for a four pack. I was in a nostalgia mood the other day and could not remember the name of them and had to ask friends for help. They thought it maybe Cleary Canada, but no- the label wasn’t right nor the bottle shape. So glad I wasn’t the only one who loved them.

I was a sales rep for a food brokerage that Brought Sundance to the Texas market. I remember taking a nice bicycle during a product promotion to the original Whole Foods store in Austin. As is often the case, Sundance came to the market before the category in which it fell was developed and not because of cost.
