Description
Came out in 1983 when the tarheels won the championship, the soda was blue, I lived in NC at the time and I am not sure if it found its way all the way around america. The deal was, it was blue, it tasted like regular cola but was blue, heh heh, I'll be darned.

LOL!! I was thinking about this exact thing last night during the UNC > NC State game. I lived in Greensboro at the time, so I remember them well. I also wondered how far the distribution went and who the manufacturer was. Funny to find this out here.

I STILL HAVE THIS!!! I remember so well when they won in 83 and my mom bought me the 6-pack of it. I gave away 3 of them, and kept three. Never did drink it though.

This stuff tasted great man...my dad still has a few 6ers of this and the NC State red soda.....we bought cases of it and seemed to last forever.

I currently have in my possession 1 Carolina Tar Heels Blue Soda Can from 1982. The contents have dried up over time but the can has never been open. It really isn't in great shape but you can make out all of it except the entire team roster. I also have two NC State Cans. One is empty, the other is full. Time has taken its toll on them but I figured they were worth saving. Its cool somebody out there remembers them.

either some of you can't type (or) are just plain lost b/c the heels won it in 82, not 83...which is when the pack won it. so the blue soda came out in 82...hopefully, you can guess when the red soda came out...winner winner chicken dinner

As an 11 year old in '82, my parents bought several 6-packs of Carolina Blue Soda. I didn't think it tasted very good; nothing like a cola. I still have several of those cans. We also had 6-packs of Wolfpack cans, but I didn't hang to those. Still have a couple '93 blue soda cans full. If I remember right, Duke had their blue soda in '91, but I didn't buy any since any self-respecting Heels fan wouldn't. It would be nice if '09 blue soda came back around.

Anyone know who the distributor of these sodas was and whether a new soda for the '09 Champs will be distributed? I'm an NC native, but I live in CA now, and I've checked with several "sodafinder" type entities, but no one out here seems to have even heard of the stuff. Sounds like it was only distributed in the Carolinas.

Another site said these 1982 cans were worth between $100 and $175 depending on condition, full/empty, etc.
