Description
This was the best! It was a chocolate bundt cake, and it had a thick pudding that you put in the center, all the way around the cake. Then it baked up over it, and you had this "tunnel of fudge" running through the entire bundt cake. I MISS it! Also, they had a Macaroon cake. Same thing, but with coconut.

These were great. I loved the fudge in the middle. Why did they stop making these great things?

This was so much fun to make back then! Probably couldn't still use that name, though...

I loved that cake mix! I used to make it with my grandma all the time- good memories. I wish they'd bring this mix back, I miss it. Anyone know which company it was that made it?

They didn't PUT a pudding in the middle...it baked itself into the middle because of the original recipe having Pillsbury's double-dutch fudge chocolate boxed icing, which required that you add milk and butter and whip. But in 1966 this Texas lady won 2nd place using it inside this bundt cake and history was made! It was REALLY food of the sixties! AND it helped Nordic Ware, the makers of the bundt pan which had nearly died out, sell 50 million bundt pans over the next 39 years! BTW, just google Tunnel of Fudge cake, and you will find the recipe all over the internet. :)

ChilePalm, we did, indeed, *put* the fudge in the center with the mix. First half of the cake mix into the pan; then a delicate process of making a nice even line that didn't touch the center of the pudding-like filling; then the other half of the mix carefullyThere was also a Boston creme variety also with a creme center placed in the center of the batter. Now NordicWare sells a "gourmet" bundt cake mix but you could probably use homemade buttercream to recreate this marvel.
