Begged for this! Dad bought it once because it was kind of expensive for its size. I thought I was really "uptown" when I ate this.
Brandy - February 12, 2008 - Report this comment
my grandma just passed away and my cousins were talkin about how she'd break that out and it would be gone in an instant. soft serve ice cream, chocolate wafer and choc hard topping!? what could be better?
Charlie - February 25, 2008 - Report this comment
It was by Breyer's.

It's still available in Europe, in fact, it was never away... in Germany the ice cream line is called "Langnese", in Austria "Iglo". You should perhaps visit "unilever.com" - there's even a video how they make it! Now the line is called "heartbrand" because of the logo design (and no, I'm not in PR) - and oh yes, we considered it very classy in Germany, too... it was the typical sunday-after-dinner-dessert there and then!

Been racking my brain trying to remember the name of this product. Yeah, that commercial was pure class.

So I hate to burst everyone's bubbles - but it is only back for a limited time for this holiday season:( Funny thing is, my family and I were trying to remember the name of this "oh so classy" dessert a few months back. "You know - the one we only busted out for guests!" LOL, then I heard an ad on the radio a few weeks back that said "Vienetta - now available for a limited time only this holiday season." Hope you all have HUGE freezer!!
Abby - December 21, 2008 - Report this comment
I was so very disappointed when I could not find any information on where to find Vienetta on the manufacturer's site. So I asked my German friend if she had heard of Vienetta, she said YES and told me they had it at the local Kroger in the isle by diary! All this time I searched every store in the area in the ice cream section, but to no avail. If you go to Kroger, they should have Vienetta. I stocked up and I have to say the BEST is the Triple Chocolate! It is so friggen amazing! Go to KROGER!
Cheryl - December 22, 2008 - Report this comment
I live in Chicago and we go to "the Jewel" for our grocery shopping. Back in November, they had a big freezer bin filled with Chocolate and Vanilla Vienetta! I was so happy to see them back! I grabbed 4 and am planning on surprising the family at Christmas by serving them with a tray of Christmas Cookies. What else do you really need? Plus my kids and nieces will be so happy, as they loved Vienetta growing up. Is Vienetta around for good or was this just for Holidays? I hope it's back for keeps!
Trulo - December 23, 2008 - Report this comment
I found Vienetta in Englewood, CO December 2008 at the King Soopers off of Broadway, just past Dartmouth. They offer 2 flavors -- triple chocolate and vanilla. They are on an end freezer. Vienetta rocks my world!

Accidentally found it at a Kroger here in Indianapolis. Brought it home and my husband is still scared of it because it keeps very well in the freezer...still no freezer burn on it 2 weeks later. I missed this 'classy' dessert...and still tastes as good as i remembered!

I have been searching for a popsicle. It was more of a yogurt consistency and it was packaged like flavor ice pops. I think they had butterscotch flavor. This is definitely 80s

I've been looking all over for Viennetta. It's wonderful. I live in Southern California. Maybe I can find some for Christmas? It's the best ice cream concoction I've had the pleasure of putting into my mouth. It makes me swoon.

It is in the Albertson's flyer I got in the mail today ($2.99) Cheap! I totally forgot about it until I saw it in there today. I may give up my "Atkins" (not a diet-it's a lifestyle) for 1 evening this weekend and devour one! (BTW I live in Clearwater, FL)

May I suggest that you leave comments on the Breyers ice cream website. They made the Vienetta ice cream cakes. If enough of us flood their website with requests for it, they may bring it back.

I have some Vienetta still in the boxes in my freezer. I stocked up when they came out... If anyone is interested in buying some they are $50 per box. I have 2 flavors for sale vanilla and triple chocolate. They expire in April of 2010. If grandma wants that wonderful taste in her mouth once again for Xmas (maybe her last one...) or want to show off to your friends and family during holiday gatherings. Then Vienetta is the choice for you. They will ship out with dry ice to ensure frozen delivery. Shipping is $75 for next day air (the only way it will not melt). If interested please email vienettaguy@yahoo.com... Thanks for everyone's love for a great family desert!!!!

We still have Vienetta in Europe, it was never gone. Can't understand why you don't have it over there too, unfairness! I'm sure they'd bring it back for good if enough people requested it?

I live in the South Loop in Chicago and despite a nasty snowstorm walked over to the Jewel for some items. I found it there! Branded by Unilever, available in triple chocolate and vanilla and $4.99 a box! And the receipt showed it as "Breyers", go figure.

My husband always talks about how good Vienetta was! It sounds like something I might find eventually in Aldi or Kroger, though I haven't seen it yet. I never tried it but I remember the commercials, which seemed to make Vienetta sound very sophisticated as they showed it on a fancy platter against a dark background and a sprig of mint or something next to it.

@scotty i realize your trying to turn a profit but 50 BUCKS A BOX? for something your just gonna eat? sorry my friend but i doubt these good people will pay that
Mirko - October 05, 2012 - Report this comment
Vienetta is still on sale in the UK very much. It costs £1 in Tesco supermarkets. It rocks just as much as it did when my mum served it in the eighties. There are two varieties of Vanilla Vienetta though. The only difference from outside is that the nicer one has a trapezoid shaped side of the box you open. The other version has all 100% rectangular sides. The difference in taste is quite obvious, the nicer one is smoother, creamier and sweeter. From the top the chocolate on the nicer one is more of a brownish shade whereas the other one is more of a darker black like shade. Would really love input from someone in the know as to why the two varieties.
Rob - March 24, 2013 - Report this comment
Just eaten half a vieneta beautiful! Vanilla only though is best. In UK its like £1 which is like couple of dollars. Cant beat it, even if there is snow outside and its March!
Caz - March 27, 2013 - Report this comment
@Scotty Beach - $50 for one Vienetta?! Disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself for charging such an exorbitant price, talk about highway robbery! We can still get them here and I'd happily send anyone a box for it's actual purchase price, but I can't do the dry ice to keep it frozen till it arrives. I hope you all find it somewhere near you, keep looking =)

Anyone remember a delicious variation on Vienetta in UK during the 80s called, I think, "SONATA" or something like that. It was more chocolately than Vienetta ..really nice!
Isac - May 22, 2016 - Report this comment
I LOVED Vienetta. The commercial said that "one slice is never enough" and I agreed, but I was only allowed one slice.
