  • 6. Paradise City by Guns N' Roses
puracy in the realm of rock n' roll. rock anthems dont get any better than this. guitar, guitar, guitar, and well... more guitar. • 5. Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi
the mass hysteria about the band and song in the mid-80s is ridiculous. a great song, definitely Bon Jovi at their best. Stadium rock at its best. Slippery when Wet earned a spot as one of the top selling albums ever and this song is the top reason why.

  • 2. Love Bites by Def Leppard
My favorite power ballad as this genre of music became known. Possibly the greatest performance by a man with only one arm as well... drummer Rick Allen. Rock God Joe Elliott delivered some of the highest notes heard by man in the chorus and the ideal Def Leppard guitars accompanied. Hysteria is one of the best albums ever and this song is one of the main elements.
  • 1. Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses
Best band ever - best song ever. Greatest rock ballad ever written by a group that broke through borders w/ their debut album. Defining lyrics by Axl, rockin' guitar solos by Slash, and overall outstanding backup by rhythm guitarist Izzy, bassist Duff, and drummer Steven. Best song of 1987 and it still is today.

Tough decision to choose a song from U2, but this one did it for me.

One of their finest songs ever. Sweet and sticky, but great.
  • 1. Are 'Friends' Electric (1979) by Tubeway Army (Gary Numan)
Ok, ok, strictly spoken this is not an 80's song. But the whole mood and style definitely is an early reminder of things to come.
Hard to make up a list like this, especially when you also listened to so-called "off-beat" stuff. I'd also add "Down in the Park" by Gary Numan, "Blue Highway" by Billy Idol, "Save A Prayer" by Duran Duran, the entire works of Front242, "Take on Me" by A-Ha, "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats and Alien Sex Fiends "Acid Bath" album

  • 3. Down In the Park by Gary Numan
This is the song that makes my husband suspicious of drug use. Probably because whenever I listen to this one I always play the Marilyn Manson cover right after (even though I'm not a Manson fan). Kind of creepy, but it gives me the chills.
  • 2. Strip by Adam Ant
Almost put Goody Two Shoes down, but remembered this was my favorite. Very catchy.
  • 1. Mexican Radio by Wall Of Voodoo
This is the first song that comes to my head whenever someone asks me for a favorite. It's one that I have in my car radio, and whenever I drive through town, other drivers kind of stare at me funny whenever I sing along with it. Not sure why its my favorite... Just think its catchy...
