Description
They were a group of cats (maybe 5) that were in a pet shop and wanted to get adopted so they would wear disguises like puppies, or birds, or bunnies.

When you squeezed them they'd let out a little 'purrr' that was supposed to be a secret between you and the 'cat'.

I had a yellow one that I think was supposed to be a puppy. I loved it, it was the closest thing I ever got to a real pet cat!

I remember them! I think Mc Donald's handed the smaller versions out in the Happy Meals at one time.

I had the cat that pretended to be a bird and some of the happy meal toys. I think the cats drove in plastic cars that flipped and showed their disguises

I had several of the Sock-Ems, they were like stuffed toys and stockings in one, that Burger King sold in 1988. At the time my best friend and I lived only a couple of streets over from a BK, we did a lot of odd jobs for people in the neighborhood so we could go over and buy new ones all during the Christmas season. My favorite was Romp-purr the pretend dog, I still have him.

Ha hah I had one of these too. God, going through this list of 80's toys is very nostalgic, but I am realizing how spoiled I was as a kid cause I had almost every girl toy on this list.

I absolutely love my Purr-tender! I have Chirp-purr but unfortunately with all the love I gave the poor cat, he doesn't look as nice as the one in your picture. When I was young I threw up on him once when I was sick, so my mom washed him for me. Now he has a perm in his fur instead of the straight locks lol

I had the all-white Purr-Tender that was the mouse. I saved up for it with my allowance money and was so proud while I counted my money for the very patient lady behind the counter. I forgot her real name, because the motorized purr was so loud that my Mom named her "Farts."

I had Chirp-purr, that was one of my fave stuffed animals from my childhood. Unfortunately my mom got rid of it behind my back! I have never forgotten it. I am trying to buy a complete one. The 80s rule!

I had Scamp-purr, I loved my cat! Brings back some fun memories. In fact, I believe my parents still have it somewhere in the garage.

I remember I had Scamp-purr (the white "mouse") as a kid, and my Sis had Hop-purr (the purple "bunny.") Like most kids of the 80's we were sucked in by the commercials (and TV shows in some cases.)

I own the yellow one, (I think he came dressed as a dog), which I inheritied from my older brother. The mask and purr motor having long since been lost, I noticed recently the PURR-TENDERS applique and got the great notion to type the name in a search engine, and I found the 1980's TV commercial on YouTube! I then went to EBay and purchased two more, the pink and purple ones, (the black one seems to be the rarest). I think these toys were less popular than Pound Puppies but to me that makes them more interesting.
