Have you seen the new Baby Alive. I didn't believe it was the same. It's creepy looking. It has these freaky bug eyes. Nothing like the original.

This was my doll growing up, I tried to tell my co-workers one day in meeting about baby alive and how I had to change her pampers and they didn't believe me. I am 41 soon to be 42 and this doll was my best friend growing up

I had a Baby Alive! I mis 80's Toys!

I got a Baby Alive doll for my sixth birthday. I remember that it was hard to get the food into its mouth, and if you didn't flush it out with enough water from the baby bottle after feeding her, the food would dry inside. You couldn't feed her after that!

Well, 20 years ago, I used to put mushy foods into her mouth and then stuff them down when she wouldn't swallow it. Nonetheless, I collect cabbage patches now.

I was 5 when I got my Baby Alive and sometimes I would eat the food myself. It wasn't that good... haha!

Haha @ the last comment. If it was made to go in the doll, I guess it wouldn't be so good. I think I remember the commercials for this thing.

I had one of those! She's still in my attic I think. I didn't remember her looking so much like a porno blowup doll in this face with that mouth like that! lol Nowadays that would be the biggest joke in the office to see that thing. I never tried to eat the food. I looked really nasty. I always thought it was a really gross concept for a doll to eat and poop, because the food would still stick inside the body pipe and if you didn't get it cleaned out it would start smelling like rotten food in there.

"I love the way you make me feel! YOu're so real!!" LOL. they are making these again now. I remember the nieghbor girl had one when i was a kid and we would be totally grossed out when it pooped. And you're right Tammy, the inside smelled like CRAP!!! LOL!

I had one of these when I was kid. I fed it real food and it got lodged inside her pipes. I couldnt get the food out and I thought if I told my parents, they would be upset so needless to say the food remained inside for quite sometime. lol

I still have my Baby Alive but she doesn't work anymore.I loved this doll as a kid.

lol@jane. That song was so catchy. I got my first Baby Alive Doll for christmas when I was like 10 or 11 years old. I played with her until she had simply burned out. I am so happy that they have decided to bring these dolls back. Yea!!!! At 28 with no kids, I gotta get me one lol

I remember wanting this doll so badly and was so happy when I got it on Christmas morning. She always got clogged though with all that food mush, I think my dad had to use the air compressor to get it out one time lol.

I was her mother when I was 8 yrs old. I remember being grateful that her pamper was not stinky. Eventually she had some stomach problem and could no longer eat. The new dolls look like a product of a Brat doll C-Section.

I always wanted one of these dolls when I was younger so I've decided to start my daughter off with the wet and wiggle version which is smaller than the actual baby alive, kind of like and infant and I must say that I'm excited to see how it works .

I think I'm getting a baby alive for christmas!! I can't wait, but seeing all of these negative comments about baby alive is so depressing...I wish that the food wouldn't dry in the pipes. Well I guess I'll have to see on Christmas morning! Thanks for all the helpful comments! :) -Jennifer

I have one of the new dolls bye the way i'm almost 11 and i love it. The feeding process can be difficult but i think it is good practice for health class when i'm older. Oh and the eyes aren't that big i also have a wets and wiggles.

I had a baby alive when I was a girl. I loved her so much and now I have one of the new ones and luckily I have a little 4 year old to give it to.

my mama said she had a baby alive when she was little.im 11 and i still love to play with my baby alive.its just like a real baby.when it eats and drinks,that suprises me and to clean it up i feel like a real mama!!!!! thisw is the best doll ever but i think it needs more features!!!

I got a baby alive for Christmas in 3rd grade, It was ALL I wanted and I opened it and it did not work! I was so crushed I stayed under the christmas tree all day the next day but when I got it it was so magical! I remember mixing up that jello stuff for food and the rraawwraaaw of the mouth motor when it ate! and the "poop" was the same color as the food! I think mine is still around somewhere.

the food didn't always want to come out the other end. it probably got stuck inside and created toxic, poisonous mold. i wouldn't be surprised if that mold is responsible for some of my "issues" today.

I have the new Baby Alive doll. Yes the eyes are big, but it doesn't bug me because of her baby smile. After my doll food ran out, my mom convinced me to use baby cerial even after telling her that is says not to use real food. I haven't had problems with this doll, except my back hurts after I clean her up. It'd be so much easier if I could stick her in the bath tub and scrub her down. But until they build water tight baby alive dolls, that won't happen. My back pain must be because of my scoliosis (SP??????) I'm 14 and I still love it! I still love playing with baby dolls only because I don't have a real baby around to nurture. I like the realistic ones so I can learn more about parenting. My grandma got me twin dolls that talk to each other and even fight with each other! They're called Too Cute Twins. I plan to give my dolls to my kids when I grow up. Baby alive is the most realistic doll I have when it comes to feeding and diapering. I just don't like that the play only lasts a few seconds.

I loved my baby alive i took such good care of her. Till the top of her head fell off I asked my grandpa to fix it but he couldnt do it. So I had to throw my Baby Alive on the burn pile. I was so sad I am 40 now with kids I still look at them in the stores and tempted to buy one.

Mine peed all over my mom on Christmas morning; it was hysterical and she found out the hard way why we all wanted one so bad. I remember how her mouth used to move like she was eating and you got to make her "baby ceral".

I think I had a talking Baby Alive! I remember it having jellybeans on the dress. I was not happy with this doll because it didn't have a lot of hair, and it peed. I remember it saying "I'm hungry Mommy" and I told it to "Wait a minute"! I also think I got some meatloaf stuck in her mouth at dinner time! She was not one of my favorite toys!! That's what I got for wanting every toy that I saw on T.V.!!

I had the Baby Alive from the early 80s that wasn't battery operated, you just pushed a lever on her back up and down that made her mouth move. My sister and I were ALWAYS putting that doll in the tub so I guess it was safe...took her to the park one day and somebody stole her(!!!)Haven't seen one like it since, and I'd love to get the non-battery one especially now that the dang food for the new scary doll is EVERYWHERE at stores!

I haven't a clue why they cracked out Baby Alive. The new one is just ugly. I agree with one of the comments above...I remember the food drying out inside if she didn't "drink" enough. It was great!

My 2 year old found my doll in my old bedroom at my parents i hope it still works she will enjoy it just like i did when i was little

I agree with Heather, the new ones do not look like the original. And they're creepy looking with those big eyes. I'd think real young girls would be scared. I would not purchase a new one. Unfortunately, I never had an original either. My mother would not let me have one because she was afraid I'd make a mess on the carpet and furniture with the food. I've always wanted an original though.

does anyone know how to make a home-made food that will work with this doll?

I remember this doll. She was one of my favorites. I was sad when they stopped selling the food for her. I think it's good that they brought her back, but they shouldn't have changed her design because now she is more creepy than cute!

I had the 80's baby alive and loved her,my little girl has the new one. the doll sucks it doesn't even look like her.

I LOVED this doll!!! My first one broke and I was so upset so my parents bought me a new one. I would always love to feed her and one time I fed her all of the food packets in one day and then I was upset because I didn't have any food left. I remember my mother yelling at me because I would feed her too much and she would always tell me that she would get worms!

Oh my word. I'm soon to be 40 and wanted one of these so badly. My Mother would have nothing of it. She said I couldn't have it because eventually it would get MAGGOTS. I was devastated. When I was 19 My soon to be Mother-in-law got me one for Christmas. My MOM was livid. She wouldn't speak to me for a week over it. Anyway It has never been taken out of the box. It's the 80's doll. She still has all the diapers, the plate, bottle, and food packets. I tryied to sell her in a yard sale today but noone would take her for $10.00 so I kept her. She didn't go to good will.

My cousin and I had the Baby Alive Dolls from the early 1990's. We were both sitting combing our dolls hair and my cousin being so heavy handed, combed the cap of rooted hair right off of her doll. The doll was in "chewing" motion and when the hair cap came off there was nothing there but a bunch of gears turning in her head making a weird noise!! We both dropped those dolls, screamed and damn near killed each other trying to run to the safety of grandma. My grandmother eventually glued the hair cap back on with crazy glue, but my cousin wouldn't go anywhere near it!! She now has two daughters of her own, can you imagine how they feel when they have to get their hair combed:)!!!

I was telling my coworkers the other day about my Baby Alive the other day. I got one when I was 7 and one day I ran out of her baby food. After changing her last diaper i noticed her "poop" was just the baby food, so being the thrifty girl i was I scraped the "poop" out of the diaper and put it back into her bowl and fed it to her again. After a fun-filled day of feeding my baby poop my mom would force-feed her water and gave her an enema with a turkey baster and I would put my baby to bed. This is what made me realize I should not be a mother and my mother should never be a grandmother lol.

I wanted this doll so bad but never got one.

I got one in the late 80's (a battery powered one) and had the same problem with the food getting clogged in her (no matter how much water I gave her). Then I got the "Talking Baby Alive" (that was more a standing toddler) a few years later.

Hahahaha I remember this doll! When I was a little girl in the 1980's I used to go with some friends of my mother's to go visiting at their families' house. A little girl there, younger than I was, had a Baby Alive and wouldn't let me touch it! She let the other little girls play with it, though. (she probably knew them-they may have been cousins)I'll never forget it! It wasbsolute torture watching her mix that cereal and wanting to do it too!

I'm 30 something, and next to my late grandmother, Baby Alive and Baby Feel So Real Were best and almost only friends. My mother was in an abusive marraige with my step dad, we moved arond a lot. My Baby Alive was lost and on xmas morning whenever the doll on the pic above was made my Baby Feel So Real was killed. I say killed because I took my duties as a mommie very serious and had hours of furn. My mother's friend came and smushed my baby. All the yellow gel goupe started oozing out. I loved mine so much. I saved up my allowance for months so I could go to the store and buy one. I think I was 8 (1990)so $40 was a lot of money. I think I'm going to buy one for my cousin's daughter for her birthday next year.

Trying to find out the value of the 1980 Baby Alive Doll with Drewbarry More (as a child) is featured on the box with the Baby Alive Doll.

I will never forget begging my mom for this doll, and she actually said YES! I had the model from 1995, same as the black one in the picture up there, except her hair was up in a ponytail, and shorter. Yeah, that food/poop smelled musty, and the diapers ran out too fast, but other than that, it was the best doll ever. If anyone is selling that exact model, please let me know!

I was also laughing very hard at all the comments, the gears inside the head one was hilarious. I have one of these for my daughters christmas this year and I hope in 20 or 30 years time she is writing on a forum such as this saying, my Mum bought me this for my 8th Christmas and...... (haha I hope it's a nice story AND not a maggot story!)

My wife has talked for years about how a baby alive was how she knew Santa Claus wasn't real. I'm trying to find her one for Christmas this year but man the ones for sale now look nothing like the old one from the 70's. Anyone with any ideas on a vintage site to pick one up? I remember having a Baby Alive doll in the 70's, and I loved her so until she started smelling like rotten wieners because the doll food was getting stuck inside of her. I also remember being horrified when I started seeing little bugs crawling out of her poop hole--I had also fed her real food too, and there were boll weasils breeding inside of her. I feel that I failed her, and I'm sorry.
