Description

Baby Heather was an expensive doll that wore a pink onesie and was electronic. You could set her at 3 different ages: newborn, 6 months, 1 year (I think) and she would behave accordingly. She cried, slept, ate, etc.

I had this doll!! It was super cool because it was all computerized. The only bad thing I remember is that her neck kept breaking and my mom had to return it twice!! After the third time, we just kept her and her broken neck!! I still have her somewhere in storage.
Heather Hicks - March 30, 2007 - Report this comment
I also had this doll and she was very cool. However, she would periodically go into these episodes where it was like she was possessed and you couldn't turn her off. We used to put her in another room for about 1/2 hour until she shut down on her own. Freaky!

OMG I had one too that had the same trouble. She scared the $*!^ out of me one night when she wouldnt shut off then about a week later her head fell off at the neck:( I was sad because we had the same name so I wanted that doll so bad

to this day i am still screwed up by how possessed the doll was .. her head would spin she'd looked at my dad and said "thats my daddy" and said a few otehr weird things out of nowhere ... really freaked me out! needless to say we threw it out because i was 7 and terrified of the "possessed" look lol

My daughter Heather had this doll and we returned her once because her neck broke. She was then afraid to play with the new one we got. When she finally played with it the neck broke again. We still have the doll in the original box in a closet with a broken neck.

I had a Baby Heather when I was a girl and was devastated when it broke. I just found another one at a garage sale and was wondering if anybody else had one they wanted to get rid of. This one has a broken neck and I would like to fix it.

I bought this doll for my daughter for Christmas when she about 7 years old. She played with it for awhile and I still have it. She is in great condition, she still works but gets stuck. (She always did) My daughter is 27 now.

I got Baby Heather the first Christmas she came out, and was probably 5 years old. I am 26 years old now, and can't believe that it has been 20 years! I'm so happy to see that there are others out there that have had the same Baby Heather experiences! I owned 3 of them because 2 heads fell off. It was always pretty devastating, and I specifcally remember holding her on my hip and looking over and her neck was dangling from wires! I really loved that doll, and I still have her somewhere in box stashed away. It's amazing how much technology has changed, but she was definielty ahead of her time.

I had a Baby Heather doll as well but I never had any issues with her neck falling off; however her left leg did come off and I was never able to get to stay on unless I changed her outfit to something that kept the leg in. I do remember that she did get stuck at age and I was unable to reset her. Overall still a great doll!

I loved reading all these comments! My baby Heather always reeked of Epoxy glue because her head was always falling off and we found that Epoxy held it back on the longest...my poor dad had his hands full in the Baby Heather operating room...my friends would always comment that she stunk! Well...she did!

I bought Baby Heather for my daughter, she loved that doll. We found her with her neck broken one day and my daughter was devastated accusing her brother of doing it. From all the comments, she may have just fallen. My daughter is an adult now but still talks about her doll, if anyone knows where I can find one, please let me know.

I was telling a co-worker about my Baby Heather doll. I came on here to see if I could find one. Apparently, I was not the only person to go through 3 dolls, due to the head falling off. My parents were so over sending it back that the final time the shoved it in the closet and there it lived for 10 years. I too have not gotten over this doll. I was so devestated when my sister broke the last one, that I still remind her. Thanks for all of your stories. I now know why my dad gave up on that doll. It only took 20 years.

My biggest wish when I was little was to have a Baby Heather doll. So, my dad bought her for me for Christmas... I ended up having three Baby Heather dolls. All of their necks broke. I campaigned for a fourth and was devastated when my parents refused. In spite of all that, she remains, in my opinion, the best doll ever! It was like having a real baby! - One side note: I do distinctly remember my dad complaining about how "expensive that damn doll" was and saying that something that cost that much money shouldn't have broken so many times.

I remember my Baby Heather doll... it was one of the few Black baby dolls that didnt look like they burned the doll before they put it in the box. She was my solitary wish for Christmas, and Santa must've been real good buddies with my Mom, cuz I got her. we played...I dressed her up...she was my joy-- Until that fateful day when her head was fell back to reveal an ugly plastic joint and red and black wires. I tried in vain to put it back on....I think I even tried to superglued it. I called whatever compaany that made this killjoy of a toy and no luck there. I cried...I was heartbroken. I laid her in her crib...strange sight an android baby doll with a halted electronic life. and WHY 20 years later have they NOT remade this doll? Have they not figured out yet how to make it with a non-collapsible neck?

OMG! I can't beleive how many people have had the same experience with this doll. I was extremely attached to her and three times I got a new one due to the stupid neck issue and I have been looking to find a replacement for years and I am 26 now!!! It seems like she really made an impact on so many of us. I wish they still make this doll with better neck support that is. I couldn't have loved a doll any more than this one, despite her slightly creepy posessed look and her occasional spazing out. She was way advance for her time and was good fun. I still remember the exact way she smelled. I have seen some for sale over time, but they are always REALLY expensive, especially if they still work. We all need to start a petition to Matel to start production on this one again, I think today's youth would appreciate the high tech nature of it all!!!!

OMG I'm glad to see i wasn't the only one who thought she was possessed. I was just telling a friend about that doll the other night, then I decided to watch Child's Play tonight. THAT DOLL IS CHUCKY. LITERALLY. Look in the opening scene, where Charles Lee Ray was gunned down in the toy store. If you check, you'll see a million Baby Heathers in multiple shots. Watch the Chucky doll's movements closely. He IS a Baby Heather with a different outer appearence. Need more confirmation? Watch the scene where Andy's mom finds the batteries in the box and checks his back. It's the same one on Baby Heather. I can't believe after this many years of saying how creepy that doll was I JUST NOW noticed all this. *Forehead slap*

Wow, Im so happy to see that there are others my age(26) that still think of Baby Heather, I thought I was the only one. I also went through 3 of them, the first 2 had broken necks and the last 1 had a brolen neck and the left leg fell off. I was so devistated every time, and I still get sad froom tome to time about her. They really should bring her back. I never experienced anything possessed about her she was perfect in my eyes and she still is.

Amazing, I cannot believe how many girls loved Baby Heather as much as I did. I am 27 and still wish I had that doll to pass on to my kids. I too went through 3 dolls, all of their necks broke and my parents were tired of returning her. I still have her clothes to remember her by, I put them on another doll. I wish that they would remake her and put her back in toy stores.

I am so glad there are others out there that still think of Baby Heather! I got one when I was 7, I was obsessed. One day I let my BF take it home for a sleep over. She returned it with the head poped off! She said she had no idea how it happened but secretly I always thought she broke it. My big sister interrogated her for hours trying to get the truth. I feel really bad now after realizing it was a defect. I miss baby Heather she was the best bay doll in the world!

I, too, had a Baby Heather whose head came off. I was upset for years because I had only had a doll a few days and my cousin broke it. I happened to mention it to one of my teachers in high school who used to attend toy shows and he bought me another one as a graduation present. I still have that one (ten years later) with no head/neck troubles.

::sigh:: I had this doll for approximately 20 minutes. I asked for it for Christmas and Santa gave it to me at our annual Christmas party (I was probably 5ish), and played with her for about 20 minutes before my cousin came running by and grabbed her from me. He went into another room and ripped her head clean off, the wires were all destroyed, and I never got another one.

I had a Heather doll when I was little. I don't remember having any issues with her-she is still in storage in my parent's attic. Some time ago, I came across another Heather doll. she has never been removed from her box and even the box is in mint shape. I want so badly to take her out and look at her but was told by a doll collector that I would "devalue" her so I didn't. anyway....nice to know that there are others who still think about this doll! daniellenicole.1977@yahoo.com

I am so glad to read I was not the only one who was devastated when my dolls head came off. It happened a few years after I got her so I could not return the doll. She had a special place to live in a dresser drawer for a long time after! I wanted the doll so bad one year for my birthday and my prankster parents let me open all my other presents and hid the doll from me until later that night. I had been looking a few years ago for a replacement doll and only ever found one on Ebay for I think around 200 but lost the bid in the last minute.

I got a baby heather for Christmas when I was 5. I loved it - thought it was a real baby the way it would change ages and "grow up" I took her everywhere with me and even had a car seat for her. Than came the day when no not her head but her leg fell off. It just fell off no reason at all. I was crushed. my mom and dad tried everything to get that leg to stick but no luck. We finally just put her in a sleeper but it was not the same with her leg always dangling. Finally we parted ways. But she really was the coolest doll I ever had. Would love to find another but would like her to have 2 good legs.

I had a Baby Heather doll too. I got her when she first came out. My great gand mother brought her for me.. I love that doll alot and at age 30 iam still looking for her from my understanding she cost alot back then like $189.00 dollars..That was alot to pay for a doll back in the 80's. my uncle threw my doll in the corner of my room one day.. And her neck broke off leaving her head hanging.. I cried for days.. Her wires were all hanging out i tried to fix it, But it would'nt stay on... I still fill like crying when i think of that day... I loved that doll so much.. If it every came back out i would still buy it again just to play with it...My grand ma' is dead and gone now... But i will never forget that christmas day when i opened that box up. I was the happiest kid in the world.... Some one please hear or read our cries for this doll. As you can see this doll touch so many people in so many ways you just have too remake her... Just with a better neck.. If some one out there knows where i can still buy this doll please email me at Tisha527@yahoo.com.. I would love to buy it for my neice and myself.. before i leave this earth..this has been a long life wish... my grand ma die still looking for that doll for me..Cause they stop making her. Why would they do a thing like that to a doll like her.. if some one has her..I dont care what color she is... i just need it ... i never got the chance to make my doll grow up.. Just to think iam still sad over this matter.. But i feel make better knowing that iam not the only Baby Heather lover out there in the world *sad*

My daughter asked for a Baby Heather doll for Christmas and that was all she asked for. I told her the doll was too expensive (100.00) and she quickly replied she would get Santa to bring it to her. Needless to say I felt I had to grant her only wish! Her cousin accidentally broke Heather's neck and I think I was more devastated than my daughter was. Yes, I still have her, broken neck and yes, one broken leg. I wish they would make her again, only better.

OMG!!! I got Baby Heather when she first came out. I can remember standing in the store, with the television display just watching her over and over. I was sooo excited when my mom pulled her out at Christmas. I cant remember how her neck broke, but my mom had to hot glue her neck back together! I have no idea where she is now at 32. But I do remember after Chucky came out I was terrified of the doll because she had the same movements, etc that Chucky did! She was also VERY heavy for a doll, and kept getting stuck saying "Mommy Up Mommy Up" wanting to be carried around. Still over all I can say that I will never forget Baby Heather.

LOVED this doll, it was WAY ahead of it's time! You could program it to wake up at a certain time in the morning and call for you! I swear mine had a british accent though. "Turn me ova, turn me ova.." Her head randomly fell off one day, my neighbor friend ran home crying because she thought she broke it. Got a replacement for $100 something dollars and the damn thing broke again! Didn't realize until this website how common of a problem that was!! Reading all these comments has brought back memories of my childhood. My baby Heather ended up suffering from a broken neck and I too was completely devastated, after super glue I finally settled on a neck brace and cute outfits that covered all that up. I do remember tickling her over and over again and she stopped laughing and replied " NO, NO Tickle me" and I threw her in the closet and never played with her again cause I thought she was evil.

I recevied this doll for Christmas in the 80's... I was just a kid, and I loved how cute she was...thought it was the best thing ever! I don't remember her neck breaking, perhaps it did, but to be honest I was more upset at how scared this doll made me. It would go off in the middle of the night, "MAMA, MAMA, FEED ME MAMA" even when I turned her off. I thought she was possessed. The neighbor in the downstairs apartment also heard the doll during the day when no one was home and thought my father left kids alone in the apartment. I would turn off her battery (as she had multiple settings) yet still the batteries would be dead, and this thing took some serious D batteries. I always got in trouble for leaving her on, but I know I didn't! I made sure of it. I threw her in the closet at one point because she wouldn't stop and it became very, very creepy...and all of the shelves (9 total on all sides) fell on top of her. Since that day I refused to play with her. For such a cute doll, I was sure she was evil. Maybe an electrical defect, but even at this age, there was just something very, very strange and scary about that doll.

OMG I was just telling my friend about my baby heather being possesed so we looked her up and found all this. My baby heather one night started saying random things that she had never said before so I turned her off and she still wouldn't shut up and me and my friend starting getting scared so then the dang doll started laughing really crazy and we bolted out to my dad where he took out the batteries and she still wouldn't shut up so he threw her in his room and shut the door. Many years later when I was 18 I found her in my dad's basement and tried to clean her and discovered a bruise on her leg that I could not get off. Creepy huh but I swear it's true. She's gone now.

I have a baby heather doll, and after it never really working and my parents returning it several times we gave up and put it in the attic. I'm 28 years old and we got out the baby heather doll for my daughter to pretend play with. There was no way I was putting oogles of batteries in that possessed doll. Anyways, she's falling apart. Her leg fell off and her head, but just the hair part, you know she has moving parts in her head, it was really neat to look at. Anyways, if anyone wants this doll for parts to fix up other baby heather dolls please feel free to email me. JLEGROS@verizon.net. The neck was never broken, just the hair part of the head and one of her legs.

My dad bought me a Baby Heather doll in Christmas of '84/'85. My mom was sort of upset because she didn't think that a two year old should have such an expensive (almost $200 and we were so poor it wasn't funny) and advanced doll. My dad thought I would be able to relate to the doll since it was around my age. I loved this doll to no end and fortunately it never broke, however it did have chucky syndrome. I would have still had my doll but my stepfather gave it to a drug dealer in exchange for crack in 1989. I'm 26 but I still haven't gotten over that. I hope I can maybe find another doll like mine but it seems hopeless. I wish Mattel would make it again if only as a collectors item.

This scared the hell out of me, I just remember her head swiveling towards me and her yelling feed me feed me. All I remember is screaming to my mom to take the doll away. I'm glad to know now that it wasn't all in my head and others have had the same thing occur. She was an awesome doll, it's ashame she scared me so much when i was little that I got rid of her right after that happened.

I got the baby heather doll when I was 4 years old for xmas. I loved her SO much! I thought the doll was so cool - how it could talk and drink from bottles and change ages. Though I remember it needed like 8 batteries and they were constantly running out. I was heart broken when my little brother's friend broke her neck after I'd had her for 2 years. I was so mad! I found her recently in my parent's house and thought I would see if I could find another on ebay or something, when I found this site. It made me and my mom laugh to see how many people have the same story! I guess I can stop blaming my brother now :).

I also had a baby heather doll in 1987. She was like my best friend for 2 years, but like so many others, she eventually succumb to the neck issue. I can remember still (and it gives me goosebumps to this day) the way she looked with her head hanging forward, wires exposed and little plastic plates buzzing as she tried to move her head. I have a daughter myself now and I would LOVE to be able to give her one. I went as far as to call Mattel in the hopes they still had some in an old warehouse or something, but no such luck. I think the children of today would love her and it should be released again. If anyone knows someone selling one please email me at tallydearing@yahoo.com

I also had a baby Heather doll growing up! My parents couldn't afford to buy 2 seperate dolls for my sister and I so we had to share! I loved that doll to death and then her neck broke!! we were devestated! We tried to glue it back on plenty of times! That didn't work. We didn't want to toss it! However I think my mom did one day while we were at school because she mysteriously disappeared!! I want another one and I'm almost 30!

I also had the "Amazing Baby Heather" and with the same sad ending. About 2 weeks after recieving the doll for christmas, my poor sister sat on the doll and the head popped off! We tried in vain to glue the dolls head back on with Elmer's School Glue so my parents would not kill us for breaking a brand new and very expensive doll, but to no avail, of course! And when you use white glue on a toy they don't let you exchange it. :( It is crazy to see how many stories are so similar. Makes me feel better to know that I was not alone. I was so, so, sad about it at the time!

I bought my daughter a Baby Heather when she was about 3 or 4. People stopped coming over my house because they were afraid of her. I guess she must have came out around the "Chucky" era. She was truly amazing, until her head came off like everybody elses. I was going to take her to the doll hospital also, but I was informed that I had to send her back with $35 more dollars and she would be repaired. Well needless to say, she is still in a bag somewhere in the house. The hospital said that she wasn't a doll, she was a computer and they had no knowledge of them! I wish I could find her another now, for her 30th birthday, she is 27 now. I think I miss her more than she does:-)

Circa 1987 I got my first Baby Heather Doll for Christmas and was beside myself with glee. After the head fell off two times and my mom sent it back in the mail two times, we just gave up on Baby Heather and adopted a talking Cabbage Patch Kid. I'm grateful I don't need counseling to this day because I gotta say it was a traumatic thing to watch my baby's head dangling from wires. Why wasn't this product ever recalled??? I'm tempted to contact all the former Baby Heather owners & file a group lawsuit against Mattel for emotionally tormenting a whole generation of little girls (and for ruining my Christmas in 1987).

Well mine was a living NIGHTMARE !! On Christmas day I had just woke up on Dec 25,1989 and covered up my face and walked to my Mother's bedroom I said ,''GET UP, GET UP SANTA CLAUSIE CAME !!!!''(Yes I used to say Cluasie :) )But anyways I instantly told my Moma to get the camcorder and start fimling so I could open up my presents . THEN I SAW HER, THE MOST WONDERFUL PRESENT IN THE WORLD .. A BABY HEATHER !!! Santa was nice enough to bring batteries . To I ripped to stoyrophom off and pulled that GOREGOUS thing ,put batteries in her . She was a pain to set up though . But I got tierd of waiting for my parents to put in her times so I just pressed yes to each button .5mins later she went to sleep. I went GOOD GREIF UGH !! So I reset her and put in normal times and I sat up and her head FELL OFF .I CRIED FOR DAYS !! It was a good thing that my dad was very smart . He took her apart ,installed a new rod , and got her head to turnPERFECTLY , But there was a catch her head was abaout 5 centimeters about where it was supposed to sit So I got my mom to get out her sowing machine and make an extention to her collar .Then after to fricken hours she was done Pink ruffles where attached and looked like it was never touched I still have her and working perfecty with the skirt, bonnet , bottles styrophoam EVERYTHING . Even her hair net it still attached . With golden silky hair . But her box has a few rippes from the wrapping paper :( BUT ON THE BRIGHT SIDE SHE STILL WORKS !! Here's how to fix her neck :there should be 2 screws on the base of her neck and screws in her back , dissasemble her and you will see the motor and rod for her neck . you should have a rod ready .I recomend meteal or stanless steel , my dad used stainless stell so it wouldnt bend or break . Now take the white rod out and crack it so all the wiers are free .Now you can slip the rod on and glue it to her head .She should work now . Hope this helps ..

OMG I am so surprise to read all these stories, I have been telling my daughter about baby heather forever. Today she saw a doll that she said she wants mind you my daughter is 14 years anyway I Sid no because it brought back memories can any one say chuckie. My cousin had baby heather when we were kids and she was cool until her head fell off with the wires hanging out. That wasn't the bad part, mow you think as a child you have a vivid imagination and children make up things well this story my uncle could verify is the truth. Well the doll was broken so my cousin didn't play with her any more but it use to sit on top of her grandma dresser one day we was walking in and out the room and the doll (this is no lie) turned it's hanging head from the wires and said hi my name is baby heather. It freaked us out we ran out the room screaming anyway we told our uncle and he thought we were acting silly until he walked in the room and she did it again he then picked her up and no lie the doll had not one battery in her. My uncle who was known to pull pranks and scare people got freaked out wow words came out of his mouth baby heather from that day own had a new home in the garbage. I think the doll should be remade because I haven't seemed anything like it sin Ed but this time mke with love not evil. Keep all parts intact and work with batteries only please.

I too had a Baby Heather doll. I have no idea what made me think of her this morning, so I googled her and came across this site. Well, I watched her become decapitated twice and that was enough for my mom, LOL. I remember her calling Mattell and getting a check from them for any Mattell toy I wanted...so we went to KB Toys and I bought the Barbie house with an elevator, a corvette, lots of other Barbie things, and a Michael Jackson doll. I think that was the best part of watching my baby's head fall off.

I still have my Heather doll and she is still amazing. She was way ahead of her time. I don't understand why everyone didn't have her or why Mattel doesn't make her again. I'm sure they can figure out the neck situation. My first two dolls had their heads come off (after friends dropped her), so I just never let anyone but my parents or myself play with her. She was never creepy and never did anything weird. I'm 28 years old and my doll is still in perfect condition.

Baby Heather was the only thing my daughter wanted for Christmas that year. I managed to save enough money and got the one of five in the store. My husband and I wanted to try it out before we wrapped it. We but the batteries in and set it down, while reading the instructions the dolls head turned, she opened her eyes, looking right at us said, "Pick me up". It was creepy. My daughter liked the doll, but found it was easier for her to play with when it was turned off. She had it for two weeks when she wanted to bring it to show and tell. When she brought it back, the neck was broken. We have had broken doll stored away thinking that some day we could fix it. I swore I would never pay that much for a toy again. Baby Heather was a cool doll, I'm surprised Mattel didn't try to make a similar doll with a stronger neck.

I have enjoyed reading all the stories about this doll. This has been one of very few sites with any information about her at all. I guess since she was only produced for such a short time, there isn't a lot about her out there. I actually have one that is in really great condition with the box (also in great condition) as well as all the accessories and instruction manual. I would like to sell her, as she takes up too much room in my small home. I will be posting her on e-bay later tonight or tomorrow, but my e-mail is cold_static_017@hotmail.com if anyone is interested. I do have pictures as well.

OMGoodness!!! I just happened to find this site and I am amazed that so many of you had the exact same issues with Baby Heather. I was so happy christmas day when my parents aka Santa and Mrs. Clause(lol) gave me this doll. She was the best toy and I was also devastated when I woke up after having a slumber party with my two bestfriends and went to get my doll and her head was OFF. I cried for weeks and weeks. I was so hurt in thinking that one of my friends had done that to her. I'm 33 years old and still care about that doll, as I see many of you do as well. Thanks for sharing your stories.

Hello I got this doll for Christmas.I was born in 1982. I didn't have her very long. I was probly 5 or 6 years old when I got her. My friend and I were jumping on the bed and throwing her back and forth. Well something bad happened her head came off her neck, but was still attached by wires. I want my mom to fix it. I don't know how much trouble I got in. This was my 1ST any only toy I broke. I was good to my toys. I also got cricket, still have her. I was sad about Heather. Didnt have her very long, I though she grew. She was an expensive toy my mom has told me now since I'm older. This is hard to belive, but more expensive than the dolls that do stuff today.

My daughter still has her Black Baby Heather and she is still in the original box.We bought it for her in either 1986 0r 1987. She played with her constantly never had a problem. We kept the box she came in, said one day it would be more than we paid for it, which was about $150.00. She loves this doll. I do too.

I got a baby Heather Doll when I was little. My parents had to get in in another state just so I could have it. I asked for the doll for 2 years straight and I remember my parents saying that it wasn't likely because they were over $100 and we were VERY poor. I remember getting the doll when I was 7 years old after my parents divorced. Then my mom moved us around often and after the 2nd move my mom forgot my doll. I was devastated! I got online looking this morning because I wanted to show my daughter what she looked like and tell her my story.

I will be very careful of her head and legs! I just got finished cleaning her and washing her hair and she looks great. I don't have any batteries to try her out yet..I hope she works!

These posts have been so fun to read!! I have been telling my kids about my favorite doll ever for many years and was almost like that little kid I once was when I found her in an old box of my things that were stored at my parents house. She has the iconic broken neck and as of yesterday the broken leg, and thanks to me being a little too anxious to put batteries in, the broken AA battery cover. But sure enough when we got the batteries in and used enough duct tape I heard that cute little voice I used to adore! My kids think she's cool, a bit creepy but she definitely has the prize of being able to do things that most dolls today can't even do, I so agree they should make her again! Anyone know who to contact for an idea like that, and also I too would be very very interested in any info for fixing the neck, leg and battery cover (saw the post about the metal neck rod, thanks soooo much, I will try that) or I would purchase a broken one if someone wants to sell it for parts, any accessories than anyoen has too would be great, I have her shoes but that's it. Thanks, this is a fun topic :). Lots of happy memories and more to make with my kids. My email is mchristinaking@gmail.com

I found my daughters Baby Heather doll in storage. She got her for Christmas when she was 5. The doll has both her legs broke off. I would love to get her fixed. Does anyone know where she can be repaired? We had one night where the kids were going to bed. Baby Heather was turned off. Out of nowhere she opened her eyes and said Mama. We put her in the other room for the night.

I keep the doll in my daughters room to remind me how much I love & miss her. The doll is in good condition but doesn't work. The small plastic battery plate is missing. I need that piece to make it work or I'm willing to buy another doll at a reasonable price. I will always remember my father coming home from work with the box under his arm. I was taking care of her, I let her watch TV when I was doing something else lol I still have my baby now, in very good and complete condition, not broken head lol It was my favorite doll with "bébé de Lansay" (Baby Talk by Galoob). Thanks Mattel for this amazing doll ^^

I want to thank everyone here for their Baby Heather stories. I haven't laughed this hard in years! We got our 4-year-old daughter this doll Xmas '87. Heather wasn't big on naps & my daughter was like a stressed-out real-life new mother after a few hours - lol! To make matters worse, she took the doll to bed with her that night. Heather woke up first & started barking orders - "I want juice", "Feed me, Mommy", etc.,etc. The poor kid came into our room shaking like a leaf. Chucky, indeed! LOL!!! When I came home from errands a couple weeks later, the sitter had Heather in one hand & her head in the other. She said she'd no idea what happened. I, however, was pretty sure my little angel had had enough & ripped her head off. Ummm... Yeah, we didn't bother replacing her. I texted her today to apologize & let her know she'd been vindicated. Sorry, Nikki - LOLOL!!! Not sure what made me google Baby Heather today, but it's been hilarious. :)

the battery cover is easy to make, and i could not find anyone to fix her so i just snipped off the zip tie around her neck and put a few small screws around her neck put a new zip tie back on so you cant even see them, okay yes i know her head dosent turn anymore but my grand daughter can play with her now her heads not going anywhere every thing else works and she loves playing with her.

I had this doll as a child.. several of them actually because of the broken neck issue. The last one, my parents tied her head on with string. I never forgot about that doll. I found one on ebay a few years ago. Mint condition, original box for $38. I received it, put batteries in it, works perfectly. I played with it for about an hour lol. Took the batteries out, put it back in the box and put it in my attic for safe keeping..

I had a Baby Heather when I was young. I was always careful but my friend wanted me to bring her outside to play. I didn't want to because I knew she was expensive. She begged so I did and guess what happened? Her neck broke. The company told my parents that there was only a 3 month warranty and my broke in the fourth month. We would have had to pay to get it fixed. I kept it for a while to play with. I was very disappointed but the company also told my parents that the neck was breaking a lot after the warranty was out. I never had any creepy problems but knowing a lot of things these days, it doesn't surprise me. The new electronic Cabbage Patch dolls are like that and they scared my little girls so we returned them. After reading the comments, I don't think I want another one.

Its operation is so sinisterly good. Her back is incredible, for the time she is a find, Mattel made a perfect little playful bombshell. imagine the trouble it would still have among today's children?, despite all the reports that have been read by me, that it turns on by itself, sometimes breaks its neck, I'm firm in buying mine who will speak Italian, oh god it's a dream if making it a reality, whoever has it, don't sell it, don't do it, it is forever the memory of an incredible era of toys that will never come back.
