Wow. I have this one up on a shelf. She was called Sasha and I ruined her shivering mechanisim early on in her life by extensive bathing. I dont have or even remember the clothes she came with. Very cute.

This was one of my favorite dolls growing up, though my family used to make fun of it. Looking back, I can definitely see how it could appear alienesque to adults. And Sam, I know what you mean; the head always smelled yummy to me, like powder or something.

I remember this doll! I didn't have one, but my friend did and I loved to play with it. We used to stick it in the refridgerator because we thought we could make it cold that way. Kinda mean I guess! Hers always worked really well.

I had one o' these, but gave her a bath in the sink and no more did she shiver! oops!

My wife kept her daughters shivers doll for over 20 years, and just completed knitting a baby outfit for it so that she could present them to her daughter upon the birth of her first child (this Nov.) Sadly, we had a house guest who slept in our guest room, where the doll had a place on the bed therein, and upon my wife's treasured Dear Jane hand stitched quilt. Well, the guest left the bedroom door open, our dog perceived shivers as a threat, and the doll is kaput, along with the knitted outfit. My wife is now knitting anew, and we are feverishly searching for a replacement doll. If you, or anyone else can help, we would be glad to pay for one.

i had baby shivers when i was a child, it was taken from me by some other child and i went on about it for years, i am now 26 and 2 years ago on christmas day my mother surprised me with one bought from ebay, it was still in the box and never used, she paid a fortune for it and i won't even take out of its box as it has lived their for about 16 years.

I'm searching everywhere for this doll! Some of my most precious childhood memories involve lugging this baby around and pretending she was real hehe. I remember my family members being so impressed by how real she looked and great she smelled. On the other hand, I got heartbroken TWICE when her arm fell off!! My parents returned her, got a brand new one, and the same thing happened again...so wherever it is, probably at my mom's, it's in pretty bad shape! I'd love to get another one for my kids. :)

OK, this thing was TERRIFYING. It looked like an alien convulsing. My friend loved it, but I used to make her cover it with a blanket so it didn't scare me.

I actually went throug three of these dolls because my older brothers kept breaking the head. The mean boys they were did it to the last one I had too! I wish I still had the doll to give to my own little girl!

Baby Shivers was one of my best memories of when I was a child and truely wish that I am able to find one for my daughter.

i remeber when i had newborn baby with the shivers one day i went to the supermarket with my mom, and i had the baby in a baby carrier and because the supermark is cold she started to shiver and the people in the store ask was it real and i said no its a doll.

i remember this doll it was my older sisters and my moms boyfriend used it to torcher us! one day he popped the eyes out and left one by each of our heads and that was the first thing we woke up to talk about scarry! but everyone is right she did smell good! but when i see baby shivers thats the first memory i have of this doll

Oh, my God! This was my favourite doll growing up. I still have my Baby Shivers. My sister, too. They only worked on Christmas morning. Go figure! But they were beautiful, and I played with mine till I was roughly twelve. Mine was the African-American version of the doll. I'm 20 now, and I intend to pass the doll along if I have a daughter. NOTE: The doll had a peculiar scent, and to this day, the doll still has it.

Holy sweet Moses. Baby shivers was one of two baby dolls I ever had growing up - my mom didn't like buying them for us because her mom bought her tons, and she hated them, hah. But I liked them and was pleasantly surprised to get one for christmas when I was 6 or 7 :o) My family made fun of me for it (because wtf the doll was shivering!), but I liked her a lot. And yes, she smelled amazing! I don't remember her limbs falling off, since I didn't play with her too hard, although removing the head to install the fat D-cell batteries was unnerving.

Sure she smelled good but I remember Baby Shiver's head kept coming off. I would frequently misplace either the body or the head or one would be upstairs and the other down. One time, against my protesting my little 3 yr. old sister INSISTED that she take her to Sunday School--Just the body mind you. I was certain she would loose it. Sure enough she did. We looked EVERYWHERE for that body. Foyer, lost-and-found, classrooms. It was nowhere. I didn't have the heart to throw it away though because I loved her--she was my first baby. So I kept her head at the top my closet way above me peering over me and my clothes. I would occasionally take her down to smell her sweet baby-powder face but would always make sure I closed the closet at night because for years it would creep me out at night having her floating head watch me in the dark.

I had one. I loved her so much! She did smell good. In Jamaica my cousins pulled har head off and used it as a soccer ball. I need to get her back please help! I will be 23 in March. I do miss her. Our time together was cut short.

I got mine when I was about 4, I'm 23 now. She still works and I never had any problem with her limbs falling off. Like someone else here, I also experienced people beliving she was a real baby. The smell is amazing and where ever I went, so did she! We had difficulties finding clothes that would suit her. Mind you, I live in Sweden so we probably missed out on many options. But I remember we had to buy real baby clothes for her 'cause the neck was wider then the other dolls.

I loved my baby shivers doll especially her SMELL, still got her well most of her my dog chewed off the hand n it got cought on a cardigan i put on her and the arm ripped off. Never had any problems with limbs coming off before that. Got her for my xmas wen i was about 3 or 4 im 22 now. She was put up my attic with batterys still inside which corroded. Was cleaning out attic n found her and my daughter who jst turned 2 has fallen in love with her and wants 2 take this one armed doll everywhere. So im wanting to know if anyone knows of a dolls hospital that could possibly fix her even just replacing the arm so i can let my daughter play with her?

Ive been looking for the African American version of this doll for some months now. Reason why is because my girl friend was talking about childhood and how mean her brothers were and how they tore the head off the doll and threw it up on the roof after burning it (head and body). We got a very dirty realistic baby doll at an auction a year or so ago. I cleaned it up and my girls (4&3) love it and I just tonight realized it might be a Baby Shivers.I figured out how it's head came off and I took out the old battery and replaced it and it works!!! There are some on ebay for sale right now too.

Haha. I am so glad that others enjoyed the same doll! I still have mine and I'm 23, but it is SO far from being in good shape! I got the doll from a friend, and don't know that her "shiver" mechanism ever worked, but I wouldn't have traded this doll for the world! I dug her (which it was always a boy, in my heart!) out of my hope chest the other day and realized just how damaged she was. My puppy (which is a grown dog we still have to do this day) chewed off both her feet and her hands! My little brother ripped off her head and broke it (but it just made it seem more real to me because I had to hold its head!) and her arm is superglued on! Not to mention, she is pretty dirty. I would *LOVE* to find a new one to keep for a daughter I have someday, seeing as though this one is in no condition to be played with! Any ideas of where I can find one?

I have a TYCO Boy 'Baby Shivers' that does not 'shiver' anymore.......Does anyone know what made this doll 'shiver'? I would appreciate any information on how to repair. Do not see a battery compartment.

To access the battery compartment you take the dolls head off.

I bought this doll for my daughter years ago, she is now 26 and she didn't like it when it shivered, so we took the battery out. She still has the doll and has now given it to her daughter.

I still have my Baby Shivers from 20 years ago. I was 7 or 8 when I got her. Best baby doll- Luke Perry (Dylan) and I had a lovely family then- LOL! I always liked how her hands and feet looked so lifelike. And yes, the last time I saw her in the box I have her stored in, she still had that baby powder smell!

I got my Baby Shivers when I was 3 or 4...I'll be 23 in Feb. My cousin Shana and I got them at the same time...we always got everything alike...still do. I loved this doll...don't really remember mine shivering, but I do remember my other cousins working. Found her a few years ago in my granny's closet! So glad I did...she was my favorite.
