I had one of these Barbies! She had this snazzy pink and silver costume that came with a removable pink tutu. I loved the tape too!

I had a bunch of these, my mom even sent away the upc codes to get me the tshirt. unfortunetly i sold the tape at a yard sale as a kid.

I loved Barbie and the rockers as a kid as well and me and my friends would play with them for hourse and hours non stop. I owned Derek and DeeDee, my friend owned Barbie and Ken, my other friend owned Diva and my other friend owned Dana and Bopsy. We would make Ken cheat on Barbie with Diva and Boysy and we made Derek "gay" with a secret crush on Ken. Oh, we had so much fun playing with those dolls back in the eighties!

These are the oldest Barbies I have, the dancing girls but neither of the guys. I can just hear the sound of them creeking as I move them side to side to make them "dance", some nice chopping action there, + a little hand accessory that had strings hanging from it.

I still have Ken. I still have some of the clothes for him. I had a lot of fun having him ride around in the pink corvette I used to own, but have long since sold at a yard sale. If I knew then what I know now I would still have that car.

I had this Barbie when I was five. My grandmother won it in a competition in a gossip rag. The tape got chewed many times by the tape deck, and the pink leggings disintergrated, but i still have the doll, and most of the clothes, including the mike and the purple gel bracelet spiral...thingy. Was the animated movie where they went into space, and carried on, or am i confusing it with something else? My brother had the Derek doll and the backstage playset with the blue coffee table. Believe it or not, I still have most of this stuff. Ahh, I can still remember the "Barbie and the Rockers" theme song. Isn't that sick?! I remember they used to come with a cassette tape you could listen to. Has anyone seen the Kmart catalogue? Barbie and the rockers are on page 2!!!! Theyre bringing the 80's barbie back and costs $45. Thats what reminded me of the cassette I had...my cousin and i held concerts.

I wasn't born until 1989, but I played with my older sister's Barbie & The Rocker dolls when I was a toddler. She had the first version of the Barbie character, and the second version of Dana, whose head made a weird clicking noise. I just got the $40 re-issue of the 1985/86 Barbie. I actually like the 85/86 version of DeeDee the best, who never sells for as much as the other on ebay.

Rocker Barbie was the top of my Christmas list the year she came out and my mother hunted high and low for her because they kept selling out. She finally scored one Xmas eve and was so excited to get it that she woke me up at 3am Xmas morning to open it! To this day I think she was more excited about that doll than I ever was, lol.

They finally bought Barbie and the Rockers back! Part of the 50th Anniversary collection. I just bought it last month and I just love it! I hope they bring back the other ones also.

This is absolutely hilarious! I was completely into Barbie and the Rockers, and am searching right now for the vinyl record song list. I forgot all about the ROOM, Tina, with the fake plants and everything. The best part is that I took it very, very seriously at the time. They would have concerts, and all the other Barbies and Kens would come and that would be their "social event" for the week when they'd all meet boyfriends, or whatever else played out. The biggest issue I had as a child was deciding who was better- Barbie & the Rockers or Jem & the Holograms. In the end, I had both & enjoyed every minute of playtime with all my dolls. I'd pretend they were all friends & would go on world tours together- OH! The memories- I have the Barbie & the Rockers repro doll & she's just as lovely as the original.

as a child of the 80s, i believe we had the best barbies. (peaches n cream, crystal barbie, great shape barbie, dream glow barbie, loving you barbie) even collectors will admit that the best dolls came from that era but barbie and the rockers was an OBVIOUS attempt to cash in on the popularity of jem and the holograms. i have a barbie book that has a picture of them and then the words truly outrageous (which was jems slogan)underneath it. it doesnt get much more obvious than that! and they arent the first barbies to cash in on a craze- they had troll barbies (ridiculous) in the 90s with the hair of troll dolls, who were HUGE at the time. and when harry potter first came out, there was secret spells barbie. anyways, i admit to having the barbie and the rockers dolls and the cassette. i still remember singing born with a mike in our hand ....

I can't believe I had her! I remember her pink midriff shirt with that glitter Rockers logo on it! And her little silver star earrings! For some strange reason I was obsessed with that shirt...I wished I could fit into it.

I have both the original and repro from 2009. This is my personal favorite Barbie ever made with Totally Hair being a close second and Butterfly Princess as third. I LOVE the look of this particular doll and the hair! One note though, my original version's boot and skirt are flaking pretty badly which is why I spent the money on the collectors edition (as well as the cool extra outfit!) I also have the second issue of Derek that came with a guitar. His jacket is also flaking.
