Several items were made of these cartoon bears. There were some figurines and books because I remember having them.

Q: Do you like the old cartoon or the new ones? You see the new cartoons on PBS.

I still watch them every once in a while just for old time sakes on channel 8 PBS. And yes, I am too old to be watching it.

I had so many Berenstain Bear books when I was a child. I even had a read-along one about Too Much Junk Food. I also had some coloring books about safety and how to tell time. The safety book had do's and dont's such as: Don't leave your toys where other bears walk. Do pick up your toys and put them away. The time book had pictures of things happening around the house and around town at different times, even in the early morning.

Berenstain Bears! Such wonderful childhood memories! I had so many of the books and brother bear doll. I had Go To The Doctor book, Messy Room, Go to the Dentist, The Babysitter, Too Much Vacation, the bad grade one, No Girls Allowed. I watched the cartoons and also had the Berenstain Bear book where they went on a picnic and another one. They also have the new series out that I used to watch.

I had a lot of these books, maybe 20 or so and anytime I was facing a particular issue, it seemed as though there was a Berenstain Bear book written just for me! Does anyone know if they ever made a playset of their treehouse? That would be really cool! I searched ebay but really don't know if such an item even existed.

I am looking for books printed with the old spelling "Berenstein" but can't seem to find any. Does anyone know when they started changing the spelling to Berenstain?

I loved the Berenstein Bears. I still have a bunch of the books. I've even broken down and bought a few of the Chapter books. I'm 27 going on 5, I'll admit it. But they were the best. I have a brother and we were just like the two cubs.

I remember an educational store opening in the mall, and my moms friend buying me the Berenstein Bears VHS "Clean this room" And something about a mean man in town. I also had the books. It was funny because I thought Papa Bear reminded me alot of my Dad in the "Clean This Room" Video/Book. I still like to read the books in waiting rooms and such, and Im 23!

We are searching for the 3" brother bear with plush head. We have the rest of the family and all the other stuff that came with them including the cardboard treehouse. My 6 and 4 years olds love this set that I bought for my now 26 year old daughter. But it is not complete without brother bear. He was lost in a move 11 years ago. Karen, would you consider selling us brother bear?

I had all of these books. I really looked forward to the (very few) cartoons that came on the tellie. My favorite was when Little Sister went to kindergarten.

Smash - I have very vivid childhood memories of playing with a tree house play set with the bear figurines, so there was one at one time.

Does anyone recall the red plastic talking book where you wrote your own story?
Olympianbabe - April 03, 2010 - Report this comment
I remember these! I have the books, some DVDs, and I taped the TV series (PBS Kids version). I used to watch the UPN version, too!

"Does anyone recall the red plastic talking book where you wrote your own story?" I have one in my basement! :P I loved that thing when I was a kid, I still talk like it now and then, makes my mum laugh (although I think I drove her nuts with it when I was young, with my damn button mashing, my stories wouldn't always make sense, like "grizzly gran-and caught, a banana, a fly, and we all went home for a yummy dinner!") XD Love that thing.

The game in the above pic looks so cool! I never knew it existed! The best book was "Messy Room" it was like one of the only ones where brother and sister argue and finally Mama Bear lays the smack down, yells at the cubs and pitches all their junky toys into the trash! Papa comes to the rescue and for once isn't the one yelling nor does he look like a big stupid oof like usual. The cartoon of 80's was the best! The one today is OK, but too wishy washy.

My grandmother had a single Bernstein Bear figure in her toybox. I think she found it on a walk. Such a wonderful menagerie of things that toybox.

I love the tree house playset--I seem to remember one with more parts of a town though. I'm trying to find it for my nephew--hoping it is in the garage somewhere. WHY don't they make it anymore??

I loved the Berenstein Bears. My first book was one of the first ones they ever came out with, I think it was from the 60s or around 1970. Not sure where my parents got it, but I collected practically all of the 80s ones up until around 88 or so. I remember they had some cartoon specials too, like a Valentine's Day one (I think) and they even had a Saturday morning cartoon show around 85-86.
