Description

Buzzy was a brown plastic bear with a motorized cutter in his belly. It would spin around real fast and you could shape graham crackers with the shapes that came in the box.

OMG I knew I wasn't making this toy up. I had this and it came with gel to decorate the gram crackers.

I questioned weather I made this up or not too! Then I found this website determined to find out what it was called and I found it!!! I'm so excited!!!

I can find no pictures anywhere on the web!!! This is so strange.....I would love a picture : (
Lindsay - January 25, 2009 - Report this comment
I've been looking for one as well, its as if they've disappeared from the face of the earth, which is strange, because they really weren't all that unsafe or unhealthy or anything. You'd think someone would have one to sell out there. !?!?

I bought this toy for my kids when they were little, they loved it. My husband threw it out and I have been looking for one since then. If anyone know

I was telling my friends (all 80's babies) about this toy tonight and no one had ever heard of it. They swore I was making it up. I feel so incredibly vindicated right now. Why can't we find Buzzy anywhere?

HA!... I come up with a LOT of obscure references at work. Most of the time I can find at least one person to corroborate my stories, but this one... ohhhhhh Buzzy my friend, why don't you have one little picture out on the interwebs somewhere for me to prove that you existed?! Everyone here thinks that I finally lost it, that I completely made this one up. I mean who wouldn't believe that some toy existed that had a metal pedestal sticking out of it that rotated at some obscene RPM rate, which was used to cut graham crackers into shapes that you could then decorate with tubes of colored gel?! Well, at least I have all you're posts to let me know I'm not the only one. Please post a link if you ever find a picture! :)

Hey! I have mine! It is missing the battery cover and when I put batteries in it, it doesn't work. I think it should be easy enough to fix because there really isn't much to it. Stupid thing, it never worked right and as a kid, I remember getting so irritated when it broke the graham crackers and that squeezy gel tasted like yuck. LOL I can take a picture of the thing if anyone wants to see it.

There. I just submitted a picture. Bask in the glory of BUZZY!!! Didn't he come with little cookie cutter plastic thingys that would sit on top of the graham cracker to make the shapes? I didn't realize Buzzy was such a rarity. I feel so honored now to have one. HA!

Our search is finally over. My sister and I had this wonderfully magic toy when we were younger. Buzzy was lost in a move across country, never to be seen again. For 15 years my sister and I have searched for buzzy. Only our vivid memories of the plastic bear were left to describe its almost magic ability to carve graham crackers into what ever shape dreamed up. Our friends laughed at us. Told us we were high on drugs. Our desperate search of the internet to prove them wrong failed us. We even called toy companies describing our delightful childhood toy but no luck. We had all but given up until my sister's husband decided he would do a search for our beloved friend one last time. Alas, the inthe80s website showed up, and a quick text messages across the country came to me from my sister telling me how they had found BUZZY. A single tear rolled down my check when I saw the picture. Given the picture I hope to one day attain a buzzy and my sister and I can enjoy our buzzy once again. Thank you for finding BUZZY.

Buzzy has been repaired! He is buzzing cookies once again! He is missing a battery cover and the plastic shapes for guides (which I don't think I ever used as a kid). The sticker on one cheeks is a little crinkled but nothing terrible. I can't find anything on Ebay or ANYWHERE on the internet about him! Where have all the Buzzies gone?? I think I'll be listing him on Ebay in the near future or if you are interested, let me know onigiri_bunnie @ yahoo . com

I Still have my Buzzy and he is in good working condition, but I would never sell it because I am the girl on the box. :-) Buzzy was not on the shelves very long. I always got frustrated with the graham crakers breaking too. It's good to see so many people that miss the toy.
slp - May 28, 2010 - Report this comment
Does anyone know who manufactured this?
Cari - May 29, 2010 - Report this comment
That is awesome, Corrie! ...and yes, I was very frustrated at the amount of broken grahams, but it didn't matter...because for some reason, he was still cool. Guess because it seemed like something I wasn't supposed to have...it was almost dangerous looking! haha I used to stick oreo cookies on the spinner and turn it on until they flew across the room.

I too have a Buzzy, everyone thought I was crazy when I said that but I never once questioned myself. My mom found him long after I moved out of her house stored away in her basement. The night I picked him up my husband fixed a wire and he works like new. I have the original box and all the shapes, I even had the tubes of decorating gel that I last used with it. I swear I feel like a kid again when I see that box.

SLP I read somewhere that someone had contacted Hasbro but I just got the box out and it says 1985 Fundimensions, Division of CPG Products corp., Mt. Clemens MI Here is the other site that I found him on http://www.doyouremember.co.uk

I had this as a kid too. And wish I could have another! I don't think Buzzy is a bear! He looks like a gingerbread man to me! (He doesn't have any ears!)

Buzzy is still going strong here in Rochester NY. My children loved it and now my grandchildren play with it. I wondered if it was no longer manufactured because it might be considered dangerous today? I suppose hair could possibly get caught but hey, watch your kids! My 3 year old grand loved grinding up those grahams today. We still have the box and all the shapes. All kids still love this toy! I better buy another box of grahams.....

I am so glad I found this site!!!! My grandma bought me this and I loved, loved, loved it! I wish that I could find one to buy for my kids to use. I would sit at my grandma's kitchen counter for hours making things with this! I still from time to time will put icing on a graham cracker just so that I can remember the taste of my childhood! I could not remember that is was called but I remembered what it looked like! I have never met anyone else that knew what is was! Thanks!!!!!!

I have one with all his shapes and little "belly button" cover for the router. My children are all grown and now I am hoping our 3yr old grandson will enjoy playing with it at Papa and Nana's house. If the Toy industry was smart they would revitalize the "good old" toys again that helped to nurture creativity. I will submit a picture for you if I can. Enjoy your walk down memory lane and happy holidays to everyone. I enjoyed reading some of the comments.

I actually have a cassette recording of me using buzzy and talking like a French chef. It is very true that if u explain buzzy to anyone they look at you like you made this up and are on the crack rock!

I just found a buzzy the cookie crafter commercial on YouTube and submitted the link. Was so happy to have played with this in the 80's. In hindsight, seeing how much cracker gets wasted makes me think it was invented by a graham cracker company to boast sales! Just a thought.
Matt - February 21, 2014 - Report this comment
There is an article from the Chicago Tribune online that says the toy was manufactured by "Fundimensions", which was a part of MPC (model products co.) A quick Wikipedia search under MPC reveals that the company in fact was acquired by General Mills in the 1970's. This validates my previously posted theory about the food product tie-in. Thanks Internet! This doesn't ruin my sweet childhood memories of Buzzy but it does make me more suspicious about company motives! I never realized that He-Man cartoons were simply advertisements for the toys created by the same company ! Of course this applies to other cartoons as well. That said, I would totally buy another buzzy just for nostalgia.

Omg I would ask my mom so often to see if she still had buzzy, he was my favorite growing up and like most of you when I talk of him I get those looks. One night around 11 p.m. my mom called me and said that she had found him in the basement I drove to her house and got him. When I got home and put batteries in him he didn't work. Them my husband did something small with the wires, not sure what, BUZZY WAD ALIVE! I felt like a child again. My poor kids are not allowed to use him without me.

Today I was eating a graham cracker and there were little tiny, dusty crumbs. And I remembered the Buzzy!! What a dusty mess that thing made!! It was pretty cool for an 80s toy though. Although the gel frosting was pretty icky. Lol. Good luck finding this toy. :)
