I had 3 carebears. One was funshine bear and my mom made that one for me. The other two were the same and had rainbows on thier bellies. One of the two had a weird eye and that was the "evil" one.

Vintage Care Bears were SO much better than the ones they have today. Their eyes weren't all shiny and the symbol on their tummy was actually embroidered instead of cloth sewn on. There are plenty on eBay and they are a lot cheaper now that there are new Care Bears!

Loved the Care Bears. My mom used to make me Care Bears pillows! I think I still have a few. I also had the Care Bears board game!

One of my favorite 80s toys! I had PVC miniatures, poseables, plush bears, books, VHS movies... I still buy "new" plush Care Bears. Dare I say I like them better now? ;)

I had birthday bear, and still do. I remember my neighbor that I grew up with , in their basement over the fire place was a rainbow like structure made out of bricks. She had all the care bears and we would put them at one end of that "rainbow" and crawl over it and pretend we were in "care bear land". Oh the memories.

I never forget the time 23 years ago when I was 7 years old when my father gave me a blue Care Bear when I was in a foster home. The lady that was taking care of the foster kids took that Care Bear, and gave it to her granddaughter and claiming that she bought it for her. Nevertheless, I remember those Care Bears and the cartoons.

By the time I was 6, I had Bright Heart Raccoon, Lotsa Heart Elephant and Funshine Bear. I don't know where I got them all from. I don't know what happened to them. I'm glad they made a come back. I have Baby Hugs and Baby Tugs, Swiftheart rabbit all of Ebay, Funshine Bear with rabbit ears headband, Carebear figurines made just a few years ago, Cheer Bear and Care Bear vhs and DVD sets. When I was a baby, I used to have the care bear sheets and pillow cases. I also have a metal Care bear Cousins metal lunckh box with thermos from a flea market two years ago that I bought, along with the sheets.

another family hand me down, my cousin Jen had them, I got them, and now my little cousin Kara has the same ones that have been handed down from Jen, to me, to her, and some of the 2000s carebears, I'm a senior in HS and grandma bought me one cuz I was like all "you should get this for Kara its limited edition!" and grandma knew I wanted it, I wanna buy another one so I can take one out of the box and keep the other one in the box so I can sell it to a toy collector in the future. Its so cute and its got swarovski crystal accents in like the eyes.

My favorite bear is Wish Bear. I always felt so connected to him(her?) because I was a big dreamer as a kid. ^^

The newer ones are still cute, but not as cute as the classic. They brought out a 25th anniversary one with a DVD. There's a new Care Bear show on television now, and you can see a few clips or episodes on youtube, but it looks stupid. I've seen a few.

I got Bedtime Bear for my 10th birthday (I'm 35 now). I still have him along with few of the newer bears. Hehe he still looks good for a 25 yr old bear, and gets a hug now and then still.

I used to have a lighted hard plastic ... nightlight (??) that sang Brahms Lullaby. It had the bears happy as can be on their rainbow. I'm 27 years old and nothing has ever calmed me like that nightlight did. If anyone remembers this toy or has any suggestions on how to search for a new one, please email me. luckie_lucie@hotmail.com I would do almost anything to replace the toy, as neither of my parents remembers what happened to the original. Thanks

I had all the 80's care bears when I was little. My family was too poor to buy them new, so I would go to the thrift stores every week and search through the huge tubs of toys for care bears. My mom gave them away without telling me, and I was devastated. Now I'm 21 and I have started buying the vintage ones off of ebay. The new ones are nowhere close to the great oldies!
Mel - December 18, 2008 - Report this comment
As a child I had Tenderheart Bear and the pink one with hearts on it's tummy (the name escapes me). As an adult, I started collecting them, and I now have quite a few besides those two: Bedtime Bear, Share Bear, Wish Bear, Good Luck Bear, Grumpy Bear, Funshine Bear, and Friend Bear. I also have a handful of the cousins and a couple of the new bears. I have always wanted one of the baby bears, but finding one nowadays with the diaper and in good shape can sometimes be hard. The Grandmother Bear is worth a lot more than the regular bears I've noticed. So if you have one, hold onto it! Generally you can find them on Ebay or even better (no shipping necessary) at estate sales and antique malls.

I loved Care Bears so much! That was one of my favorite tv shows as a kid, and I loved collecting Care Bear stuffed animals. Even as an adult I still buy them if I see them at a flea market or something. I especially love finding the old ones from the '80s. Here are the ones I have: (80s Care Bears): Friend Bear, Tenderheart Bear, Bedtime Bear, Gentle Heart Lamb, Brave Heart Lion; (90s environmental Care Bears): Cheer Bear, (Care Bears from 2000s): Funshine Bear, Goodluck Bear.

I had and still have Birthday Bear. I've since bought Good Luck Bear and Funshine Bear on eBay for my little boy, who tucks them both under his arms to fall asleep! I hate to say, but when they resurfaced this past decade, I was not pleased with their updated, bright features (of both the dolls and illustrations); even worse is what they've done to them in the past few years! They look like little aliens! My favorite part, anyhow, was the beautiful embroidered tummy patch -- it actually looks like time was put into it and true, untainted-by-computer-animation artistic ability was actually used! Sigh!

While the new Care Bears found in places like Wal Mart are radically different from the originals, the ones sold at Carlton Cards are much closer. They are the same basic shape with white paws, a curl of realistic hair on the head and embroidered symbols. I have both Loyal Heart Dog and True Heart Bear from this group. Sadly, I don't think Carlton sells Care Bears anymore.
Amista - June 17, 2009 - Report this comment
I don't own any real vintage Care Bears, although I did see a Tenderheart for sale once. He was out of my price range, though. I own some of the newer Care Bears-Heartsong, Best Friend, Hopeful Heart, Do-Your-Best, and Laugh-A-Lot, as well as Funshine, Wish, Cheer, and my favorites Harmony and Tenderheart. I have a couple of cousins, too. I can't stand the all-new Care Bears with the redesigned faces. They look like aliens. Give me my care-worn Harmony Bear any day.

Grumpy Bear is my hero! I remember loving the Care Bears cartoons as a kid. I remember being so excited when I saw an ad for the upcoming Care Bears Movie in a magazine at the bookstore. I didn't get to go to the theatre to see it, but when it premiered on TV, I was right there. But the channel went out and I was pissed because I thought I was going to miss the Care Bears. Fortunately the channel came back on just in time. I never had a plush Care Bear as a kid, but I borrowed a friend's Love A Lot Bear for awhile, and got to play with yet another friend's wish bear for a day. I loved that bear. I did have a few of the poseables, but it wasn't the same as having the plush. When the Care Bears were rereleased I bought a ton of them. I wish I still had them but I stupidly gave them away.

i see no one posting about secret care bear that you pulled the string and it would say "your my secret friend", "want to tell me a secret", or "you can tell me anything". I would say that vintage care bear are much better than the new ones. I still search when ever I have the money to. Thrift stores are still cheaper than ebay just rare finds.

I adored Care Bears! I had all the figurines, including the Cloudkeeper, some poseables (Grams and Tenderheart Bear), keyrings, a Care Bears video, fridge magnets, books, a coin purse, a soapdish that came with a Funshine Bear sponge, a few plushes - Bedtime Bear, Friend Bear and Love a Lot Bear. I even had a figurine of the bad guy - was he called Professor Coldheart? But I buried him in the backyard! Birthday Bear was always my favourite. The new Care Bears just aren't the same.

I have been collecting Care Bears off and on since 1999. I had one as a child(I'm 36 now)and was elated to find them on ebay. It is tedious constantly watching for them but worth it. The new ones do not hold a candle to the original vintage ones!! THE 80'S RULE!!! BTW..the post above me is HILARIOUS!!!! SOOOOO funny burrying Professor Cold Heart in the back yard!! My sides are hurting from laughing! So glad I found this site!

I had the ENTIRE Care Bears collection (except for Birthday Bear I think) but my favorite was Bedtime Bear. I took him everywhere I went(even in Walmart!). I wanted to bring him in the bed with me when I slept but my parents said no because they thought it would get the bed dirty. I unfortunatly don't have it anymore or my other Care Bears but I still watch the Care Bears with my little sister (who's practically an 80s child stuck in the modern days of crap). She only has one Care Bear and its the bear with the music note on her chest and its buried somewhere in her toychest. She named it Kyoko since Kyoko is the Japanese word for music. I love my sister and sometimes I feel sorry for her that she wasn't born in the 80s. She's 12 and people call her weird since she's 12 and not into the Hannah Montana stupid crap or boys and much prefers to play Barbies and Victorian Teddy Bear Tea Party with her sister and wear some of my old American Girl historical clothes (anyone remember Samantha?). But she doesn't seem to care what anyone thinks and just carries on with her life.

I had the pink one with the hearts on it. I also remember I had a care bear playground ball. It was yellow so I think it had sunshine bear on it. We used to play with that thing in the back yard all the time. Wasn't there a care bear show or movie? I remember seeing one and there was a creepy, mean old man in the movie (a cartoon) who used to scare me all the time!

They're not expensive either. I have a question I really need help with. Me and my sister had a hard bear about carebear size poseable and it had a picture of a piece of fruit on its belly.
