Description

chickaboo was a brown small monkey with a soft body and a hard head.

You could get boy and girl ones and you could hook their thumbs on

their feet or make them suck their thumbs. They were very cute!

My dad bought one for my sister's 3rd birthday and she loved it to bits. Even 25 years later Dad STILL remembers the day he bought it for her. I'm actually looking for one as a surprise for my sister so if anyone ever hears of going for sale please let me know via this page. Many thanks!

I had one of the clip on one and my brother and sister had the big ones. I now live in Portland Oregon and walked into Safeway (another blast from the past) and saw they had them on sale. They call them "monchichi" the from the Japanese TV show it came from.

I bought a brand new one (with a wooly jumper) when I was on holiday in Brussels and another (a TINY baby girl one), from the Japanese section of Disney Epcot centre. So they still make them and they are exactly the same! Just keep your eyes open xxx

Just to say - some Chikaboos are labelled Monchichi (mine was one of those (it was called a Chikaboo though) - the one is this photo looks like one of the cheaper, not so cute ones). If you search for Monchichi on Google you can get them from America. I bet they'll be back here soon

My husband just purchased one on ebay to give me as a christmas present - I had one 30 years ago when I was 7, it came with a queens guard uniform red jacket and black bearskin hat - unfortunately though the one on ebay doesnt have any clothing - if anyone knows where i could get the clothing it would be brill to relive my childhood memory of my alltime favourite toy.

My mother just telephoned me to ask if I wanted some old toys/stuff as they are having a clear out, then at the end of the call she remembered that Chickaboo had also been discovered and she asked did I want him? 'Hell, yeah!" I live about 300 miles from Mum so I'll have to wait a little longer to be reunited with old Chickaboo, but it will be worth the wait! Also it has some clothes! I remember getting him for b/day or xmas from my Auntie Barbara. Retro 1980s toy, I love it. The comments have had me laughing my head off! I hope eveyone finds their Chickaboos.
