These were on a waiting list at our library forever. I remember finally being able to get my hands on one and reading it over and over again to see all the different outcomes. I loved these.

My favorite one was Escape From Chimney Rock (and it still is a fave). My cousin and I would take turns reading it out loud and the listener had to pick the choices. Never got old for some reason...

Oh my god! I remember staying up way after bedtime with 4 bookmarks in various pages just in case I didn't like the outcome of my choce. I LOVED these things!

These were the best books ever... Only reason to get me to the library (until I started getting interested in the adult section - no, not THAT adult section!!!)

Ha! In middle school we had to do book reports on books there were 100+ pages. Since these books were usally around 100 pages, I would use these books, find the fastest way to die, then write the book report!!! I fooled 'em! I fooled em all!

I absolutely loved these books! My friend had lots of them and I would borrow them from her. They were truly creative and I would probably read them now!

Oh I am in trouble now. I will probably go out and look for these at the used book store or eBay. I read and re-read these books all throughout 6th,7th, and 8th grade. YES I WAS A GEEK. I would check these out from the school library. I think we had the hardback versions.

I just got one from a library book sale last year. It was called "A Mickey's Christmas Carol". I had so many books from when I was a child, I couldn't remember ever having one. My friend was with me and my mom and she told me about them. She's only about a year older than me.

This book is very cute and I really enjoyed reading it, even though I'm almost 26 already. And my friend is a year younger than me, not older.

I had SO many of these in 4th grade! I used to bookmark the page where you had to make a choice & then double back. It was a convoluted way to read the, but I loved it.

Oh man, I used to love these... I would always cheat while reading them though... I would pick an outcome and if I did not like it, I would double-back and choose a different one.
Blackwing Rose - May 13, 2009 - Report this comment
I always cheated too! :-)

I remember these- I actually read these as a kid. I had one about a haunted house and girl I think. They made reading fun.

No matter how much I read the same book, I always seemed to end up in the same lame ending so (like everyone else) I just flipped through to an ending I liked and worked my way back. Remember the cheap ones that were like fifty pages long before you actually got to a choice?

I loved these books as a kid and recently found a bunch at a retro book store for $1 a piece. Bought them for my son and he loves them. I guess not all the stuff we had as kids were lame.

My brother and I had a lot of these! LOVED them! We had one or two that were the scary stories, not sure if they were the same company or not. I keep trying to get my boys to read them, but,....sigh. I even wrote my own when I was in junior high! I still have it. It's all typed on a manual type writer. I cut the pages to be small and then mixed them up and added the page number you needed to go to. Maybe I should put it on the computer!
