Description
I have been looking for this for ages and still have not found one. I had it when I was a kid. The clown head hooks to the hose and when you turn the water on his hat goes up in the air on the stream of water and when you would jump through it the hat would fall and then go back up again. I think it was by fisher price but I am not sure.

We're looking for this too!! We just talked about this at lunch and my sister and I had this when we were kids. We have a picture of us and our Dad running through the Clown SPrinkler and have tons of memories of this. Too bad we haven't been able to find it either.

I totally remember this b/c I was terrified of clowns & wouldn't go near the sprinkler if it was set up!

Wow! In the late nineties, I went with a friend of mine to her new boyfriend's house and I ended up hanging out with the older bro. We were drinkin some beers, and I saw this thing in the garage. "Fun fountain?" I thought."What the hell is this?" He couldn't believe I hadn't remembered this toy. It was still sitting in the original box and everything and we decided it was a great idea to strip down to our underwear and hook this thing up to the hose and run around like we were 5 years old! Did I mention this was in October in New England? I swear to you , this was totally fun, even as an adult...although I bet the beer helped :)

I got one for my 5th birthday. To me it a kind of demonic looking face. I remember my brother being afraid of it

I read somewhere that that toy and the other one that had the whipping hair like hose coming out of the head were both re-called because they were dangerous. but whatever. kids take guns to school now instead.

My brother and I were just talking about this toy. I have a 3 year old that would love it. Just the thought brings back so many awesome memories!

It's called the WHAM-O-FUN I believe. I had it when I was a kid. It was kinda dangerous because if the hat was up and someone shut the water off it would come down like a damn missle. I saw one on ebay for like $50. I had the one with the yellow polk a dot hat!!!

I don't like clowns but I loved the sprnkler!

My brother and I got this in 1978. We had the 1st series (pre-1980 lawsuit) red-colored nozzle attachment one, that did not have the pressure controller and our neighborhood had crazy high pressure. This thing could be deadly. We have so many hilarious memories of this. The scene usually played out like this: "Dave, look into the top of the clown's head, I promise I wont unkink the hose...just do it, I promise! " Well, I just purchased a brand -new never opened one on ebay for $125.00 I know it's crazy expensive now, but the look on my brother's face when his 4 year old twins open the box is going to be PRICELESS !

My sister and I had one of these when we were kids and I remember having fun with it. Too bad we left it out in the weather (summer after summer) and it faded and eventually was destroyed (mostly by me, sadly). I am amazed to see how many people had or even remember this, and even more amazed at what it sells for on eBay! Nice score on that mint and brand new one Mike!

We had one I loved that thing. I need to find one. They should reproduce it, just like the green machine.

I'm looking for one, too. Apparently, I'm not the first who loved it as a kid and now wants one for the next generation.

I remember this. My sister and I would run water ALL day long. Parents would be mad. I think my sister and I got this toy at 4 or 5. I remember this from the late 70's

We had one as a kid - absolutely loved it. Good luck being able to use one now with water restrictions in Australia. All the stuff we loved as kids - crazy clown, running through the sprinkler, those plastic slippery slides - our kids are lucky if we fill up a paddling pool for them!

I have been looking for one of these for ages!!! My sister and I had one years ago when we were kids, and now that we are parents, we are desperately looking for one. I found one on ebay, but the bid was already up to $195.00. If anyone knows where I can find one for cheaper, I would be very grateful.

I remember that clown we sued to play with it all of the time in the summer and we had a Willy Waterbug as well but I think we gave it back to some relatives because we were only borrowing it because they were older.

Been trying to find one too. Used to have one in late 70's maybe, or early 80. Those were the best. Now, got a Buzz lightyear sprinkler for my kids. Paid like 35 bucks and barely stays in the air. Rocket fins made out of nerf foam and rocket is narrow. You breathe and it drops off balance. bring the clown back!!!

I laugh as I read these comments. My boys played in their father's boyhood clown head sprinkler last night and loved it. I told my husband maybe we should try and make some money!!

LOVED my Fun Fountain!!! What was the other fountain from the 80s that was a caterpillar or worm that had several long multi colored arms that sprayed water??
Brannan - May 30, 2012 - Report this comment
I had a WILLY WATER BUG that sprayed water out of several long hoses that came out of his head. It was the best. We found it in my mom's basement, but the hoses had rotted. So sad!

I got the clown head fun fountainfor christmas back in the summer of 81. It was made by toltoys if i can remember correctly and the other brand was wham-o. They were identical. WHAT a great toy and it provided myself and lots of other kids in my street fun for many seasons until the clown head broke. I have just recently purchaced one on ebay in mint condition with the original box. I cant wait to get and put it in my retro toy cabinet. very excited! Im positive they made these clowns up until the early to mid nineties as i can still see it on the shelves in a toy store where i come from.

My neighbour just handed me this today, he found it in his mum's shed. My two girls have had a ball in the garden all day. The old toys are still the best.

I just bought one off ebay for $250. I grew up with fun fountain clown and I want my son to experience the same fun I enjoyed on those hot summer days. Its a lot of money but if you think an iPad costs 600 bucks - I think its money well spent.

We had one of these! A few times we tried to set it up in our front yard, but it was not quite flat, so if we turned up the water too high, the hat would go flying off to the side. Of course it did that if you put the water up too high even if the ground was flat, but on the tilt you couldn't even get close to that high.

I remember this so much. We would play in it in our backyard in the summer. I can remember my sisters and I daring each other to put the hat back on top of the clowns head just to see it go high into the air again.

Hi! I had this too and loved it. Does anyone know when it was released in Australia? I think it was 1980.
