This was a classic 80s game. The object was to be the first to put together a cootie...basically, a plastic bug.

I remember this game. I never played it the way it was supposed to be played. I think I just liked pulling of the bug's arms and legs.

It is funny that this is listed as an 80s toy. The original bug like cootie (before it got all curvy and multicolors) was in fact the very first plastic toy ever made. It was made about 1950 and I believe in Minneapolis MN.

I loved this game when I was young. Mainly because I was the Cootie Woman at my elementary school, and I thought it was so cool. I even had my own newspaper called Cootie Woman Today. If I only knew it wasn't so cool to be the cootie woman. My cootie toy was a pet as well for my barbie.

My kindergarten (1983) had a Cootie game on the toy shelf. I loved it. I bought Cootie for my 4 yr old son last yr. It's a little different. The bugs now can be different genders/moods and the legs have sneakers on them! Pretty cute.

Cootie goes back to 1953, originally by Schaper Toys. Head, body, six legs, two eyes, antennae, tongue. Originally retailed for $2.50, now around $20.
