Description
A blue plastic train (made by Mattel, I think) that attached to the top rail of a crib - you could wind up the smokestack to play a tune, and the train would "travel" up and down the rail as it played music. So cool! You never see these anymore. (Some kid probably got clothing caught on it and choked or something.)

I had this toy as a baby! And when I got older, I used to push it around on the carpet as a toddler.

My father-in-law says he got one for my husband just after he was born and it didn't work. The crib rail was too thin, and the thing just fell over ... onto my husband! (Explains a lot, if you ask me!)

OMG I've been looking for this train EVERYWHERE!! Me and my older brother grew up with the yellow one and I'm currently pregnant and I want to get one for my daughter. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I got this toy for my second Christmas. Three days later I ended up in the hospital with spinal menengitis and this was the toy that went with me. A very important part of my childhood, my dad would wind it up every night for me for years.

I still have the blue one that I bought for my son when he was small - now 27. I now have a grandson - although not my sons child but my daughters, and he is coming to Grandma's and the train will be on the crib when he arrives. I can't wait to see his reaction to this simple non electronic toy!!!

My mother-in-law just gave my husband his train for our son. After seeing this post now I know how to use it. All my mother in law could remember is it played music and went up and down the rail. My son loves it.

Does anybody remember the other brand of this? I bought one for my daughter, now 29, and she wanted to see a picture. It was some sort of educational brand that no longer exist. The one she had was white.

Anna, could the brand be Child Guidance, perhaps?

My son was born in 1974 and had one that ran up and down his crib rail. I took it off when he started pulling up because I was afraid he would pull it onto himself. It is pretty heavy. I still have it and his 6 year old daughter is pushing it around on the floor right now with "My Little Pony" as the engineer. It no longer works on the crib but still being enjoyed by all the grandchildren.
