I had the sugar and shine ones, but we've moved a good number of times since I was little and my mom made me pack the toys in garbage bags (to save boxes is my only guess) and they've long since disappeared. I still remember them. I was just thinking of them the other day, and did a yahoo search for cupcake dolls and was amazed to find them.

I have a skirt from the blueberry one still, my friend gave it to me for some reason & I STILL have it. It smelled like Blueberries for about a year or two, I remember that. I also had a later version of this, but she was in a jam jar & you would push up the bottom & the Jam lid was plastic, but it was also her hat & it was a Strawberry one & she had what I call a fairy-style skirt (all jagged at the bottom). I don't know where she disappeared too.

My older sister had one. It had a purple skirt and the hat was white with grapes on it. Obviously it was grape. I was always jealous of her & always wanted one. She used to let me play with it though which was nice.

I had gotten birthday money and my folks took me to toys-r-us and I walked straight over to one and said this is what I want. I was like 4 or something. I used to play with it out in our doghouse and I ended up losing the pink comb in the hay. I was so sad, but I can never forget she smelled so sweet.

I recently found in the toys from my children that I had kept for my grandchildren, the cherry cupcake doll of my daughters. My grandchildren ages 6,4, and 2 love it, even my grandson. Where can I get more? I have to make them take turns playing with it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembers these! :) I had forgotten they were scented, though. I am thinking of dressing up as this for Halloween. I have a poofy dress in an appropriate teel-ish color... all I need is the frosting hat and some sugery body spray. lol
Perls - October 24, 2009 - Report this comment
Gosh, Mer, that's a fantastic idea! Reading your comment, I felt immediately inspired and pictured myself very clearly in a teal/blueish poofy dress (I have one with silver fibres in it, very Cupcakedoll-like) and a selfmade huge candy hat with hearts and ribbons. Aww!!! And I need my hair curled for that.

I love these dolls. I just a parfait one off ebay. She is beautiful and smells great. but there is one specific one i am looking for. She has like a dark pink skirt and dirty blond hair. I dont remember her name if you search "Tonka sugar cupcake sugar and shines doll #8" youll see her but she doesnt come with the fabic skirt, comb or the hat. She is the exact someone I had when I was a little girl and I would love to have her again. If anyone knows her exact name or knows where I can get a complete version of her please email me at yourmycurse@gmail.com. Thank you!

I can still smell them and my mouth is watering. They were the best! It is making feel sad that I have none of my old toys anymore. I will keep my kids toys, i will hide them away and when they ask when they are older about certain ones ill pull them all out.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE DOLLS! My twin sister and I used to play with them for hours when we were little. I had the pink one with the cherries on her hat and my sister had the one with the blueberries. My favorite was when my grandmother surprised me with the yellow one with the bananas on the hat (i love yellow). I was so sad when, years ago, my family moved back to the states from germany and most of our childhood toys were lost in shipment. Some of my greatest childhood memories took place at the time I had those. I'm 23 now and still love them. Luckily my bf remembered me raving about these adorable cupcake dolls & decided to get me a couple for my birthday a couple years ago. I was so excited to see them again...and wouldn't you know it one of them was the pink one with the cherries! A very sentimental gift with many sentimental memories :)

How about this-my now 22 year old played with these dolls when she was little. I also have a 3 year old daughter now and she has a 3 year old daughter and they both play with these cupcake dolls that I found packed away in our garage! Some of them weren't even out of the box! They share the dolls and 2 playsets-the tea party set and the sundae vanity set. What fun to see these cuties playing with these dolls that hadn't seen the light of day for many years. I have to say it is a real dejavu for me! I love it!

I was the designer of many of the Cupcake dolls... but I didn't design the first year dolls (Cutie Fruities, Sparkle & Sprinkle) I designed the Tropical Treats, Cotton Candy, Parfait & the Jam Babies. That was one of my most favorite design projects!

Did they remake these dolls? I bought a cup cake doll about 2 or 3 yrs ago at a store called Tuesday Morning. I can't think of her name at the moment. She has blond hair and looks like a sundae or parfait. Smells yummy. We have a cartoon CD that came with her. I will need to watch it again to find out which doll we have. I'll post again when I can say which one she is.

I wish they would make the dolls and the ice cream sunday table. They had a large cake;it converted into a table, the frosting becomes the umbrella. Also a cupcake that becomes a bathroom vanity. Girls, mothers and grandmother's loved the cupcakes. Please, please reintroduce them.

I have a 'Cherry Chip' Doll for sale on Gumtree right now if any one is interested. She's the one with a frilly deep pink silk skirt & blonde hair. A picture of a cherry & other fruit around her waste band. It's in excellent condition, no hat though. Very rare to find this one now.(Cardiff area)

I always loved anything that was scented, so these were very appealing, my daughter is now in her 20s and she still has her collection of 14 Cupcakes with their ice cream cake kitchen and tea set. They still smell great though several definitely show they were well loved.
