Gorgeous Creatures were made by Mattel in 1979/80. Four styles of dolls were issued, which included one with a pig's head and blonde hair and magenta colored gown, one with a cow's head which had dark brown hair and a blue gown, one with a horse's head which had blonde curls and a silver dress, and one with a hippo's head which had red hair and wore a yellow jumpsuit. They were smaller, curvier animal versions of Barbie, measuring 7 1/2 inches high. No clothes or accessories were ever produced for these dolls although they did come with matching hats, gloves and a picture of their "boyfriend." Each also had a theme and a scenic box.

I had the Cow Belle doll when I was 6 years old. Never had a desire for a Barbie doll but this doll, I could not live without. I had completely forgotten about it and I am so glad that I was able to bring her up on line. I have so many great memories of playing with her. I would love to buy one as a keep sake.

Wow.I have been doing random searches for the actual names of these dolls for months!I am so happy I finally found them,as I had a couple when I was like 4 years old..I remember disliking the fact that they had animal heads and such great bods!I used to play with mine all the time! Now that I know the nam,I can go find more pics and hopefully one for sale for my daughter.

I had all four of these dolls. They were great. I played with them for hours. I wonder if my mom has them packed away somewhere. I hope so. But I probably thrashed them like the rest of my toys.

I have been searching for these forever. I never remembered their name and I haven't found anyone who remembers them. I had the hippo one. It was so random that I happened to stumble upon this site. Wow. Maybe I can find one on eBay now that I know the name. Yay!!

I have the cow doll, the box got messed up but I have the doll. She's still hooked onto the cardbord backing. My daughter got a hold of the accessories & lost them though. Anybody interested, let me know.

I had the horse one and loved her! She was special because she was so unique, unlike any of my other dolls. I remember she was on clearance when my Mom bought her at a Gibsons store. I would like to locate the other 3 and display them, but not for the prices on e-bay!

I'm almost 20 and my mom bought me the Miss Hippo doll on eBay when I was nine. With a huge love for hippos and red hair (I been wanting to dye my hair red since I was four), this firey haired hippo was the perfect doll. I named the doll Violet. My mother died a year ago and now, I really want to search the house for this beautiful doll.

I have the Hippo doll saved with my other 70's barbies, my daughter plays with it. I couldn't remember what they were called but I knew there were others, I remembered the cow.

Oh my goodness! I guess I was maybe 3 or 4 when I had my cow belle. I LOVED her! And it was probably the fact that she did have a BODY on her and was glamorous. It is so nostalgic for me I think I'm going to try and find one!!
