I remember these! We had a little bear-like thing that my brother and I used to lick to make it change color. It stayed permanently stained from all the spit. It was grayish when dry and purple when wet.
We had these too used to take them out in the kiddie pool. i distinctly remember one was a hello Kitty whos clothes changed:)
Those are called Hello Color. They were made by Sanrio (the people who make Hello Kitty) in the late 80s.
