Dolls that were made to look like a pilgrim girl. Very popular during the early part of the 80's! Bed sets and sleeping bags soon followed suit.

I had this! :) They still make Holly Hobbie stuff and sell it in card shops. Anyway, I called her Hobby Hobby because I was so young. I told my mother that I was a "lady and a hobby hobby".
Heather - August 13, 2007 - Report this comment
I had the 'Heather' doll, of course, with brown hair and a green outfit. I loved her! We climbed trees together, wandered through the woods, had adventures, everything. She's a little worn these days, but safely in storage at my parent's until I have a daughter of my own. Then it's adventure time again! The new line they've come out with is NOTHING like the old beautiful Holly Hobby. She's overdressed and too 'preppy'. The real Holly Hobby was a simple country girl in faded gingham with an honest face. Not some tarted-up pseudo-Barbie.

I loved holly hobby. I dont know if I loved her because of little house on the prairie or i loved little house on the prairie because of holly hobbie. I also believe she is the reason that blue is still my favorite color to this day. :)

I had the Holly Hobbie doll whose outfit folded down into a nightgown and her hat turned inside out to make a nightcap, and then there was this fabric strip attached to her hairbow or something, and when you pulled it, her eyes would close. Do you guys remember that one?

I have my Holly Hobbie still, she has a pink dress that has an inscription printed on it about friendship. I remember she came with 2-3 cardboard "plates" of food & I think a cardboard cup. I also have a much older pillow that came from my mom's childhood with Holly Hobbie standing facing away in the distance on a fence.

I remember wanting the one that closed her eyes, and still have the 10" cloth doll, and, my mom made me a Holly Hobbie outfit and Holly Hobby cake for my birthday when I was, like, 4...

The Holly Hobby of today is way cuter than the Holly hobby from the 80s. It just is. I mean come on just compare. Check out the newer Holly Hobby and then go back to this one.

I had the Holly Hobby oven when I was a kid. It functioned like the Easy bake but looked like an old fashioned country oven. My brother says I baked one of his gold fish in it, but I don't remember this.

I had a Hollie Hobby kitchen set and Hollie hobby wallpaper in my room. I really didn't even get who she was, I think my mom liked her more than I did. But man, I had fun making some pretend margaritas in that kitchen, then drawing Crayola mustaches on that chick's wallpapered face!

I had the 2-3" mini doll, w/ removable apron, and to my surprise I found one on ebay last month. Yes, I bought it. It was a special gift from my grandma, when I was in the hospital as a kid w/ asthma.

My daughter is turning 5 and wants a H.H. b-day also..good luck finding anything! Today's Holly is supposed to be our old Holly's great-granddaughter...so that's why she is more modern and the story ties in together..she's not "tarted up"..that would be those horrible Bratz(slutz) dolls of today. Today's Holly teaches all of the same values and morals the old one did!! I'm glad my mom kept all of my old Holly stuff my kid's playing with it now and we're also using my old Holly baking pan for her B-day.

Does anyone remember some paperdoll sets that came in a cardboard box that were called Gingham Girls or something like that? I remember having these and loved them so much. I do not think they were related to Holly Hobby. If anyone has info, e-mail me! c.lamb89@yahoo.com

I ADORED Holly Hobbie as a kid and still do!!...not so much the new ones though..something not quite right about them. Don't know why they always feel the need to mess with a good thing. I used to have a Holly Hobbie dollhouse at my grandmother's when I was little...it's since disappeared and I'm having a terrible time trying to replace the bloody thing. It was a 3 dimensional house made out of heavy cardboard and had the rooms and things printed on. The roof was green plastic and it had an upstairs bedroom and a kitchen and living room downstairs. Anyone else have one of these? Or have any ideas where I could find another one?

I had the Holly Hobby sewing machine. You had to turn the handle on the side to get it to stitch. I think it had a pedal but the batteries would run out too quick so you were stuck turning the handle. It was fun though.

I still have a little Holly Hobby blanket..baby blanket I guess? Has the white satin trim. My parents thought they would have to send me away to school with that blanket attached to me since it went everywhere with me at home. It even went with me to every place I moved to from college on, and now I've passed it on to my 16month old daughter. We also had the Holly Hobby metal folding play table and chairs...we so destroyed the vinyl on that as kids :P

Like Heather, I used to take my Holly Hobbie outside all the time -- I would make homes in the long field grass and fallen tree branches. To this day, if the sun is just right and the breeze is warm but not too warm, I still say, "What a Holly Hobbie Day!" (Of course my little boy says, "What does that mean?") And I'm sorry, but nothing compares to the good old Holly Hobbie from back then!

I had the Holly Hobby bed set, it had a canopy and everything. I also rememeber the paper dolls, i had a tea set and nite gown too. i can't find my doll but i did find my Raggedy-Ann doll she is missing an arm, but she was wearing Holly's smock, i used to make them have tea parties together and sonetimes would switch their clothes, i felt like they needed a change they were not a s cool as Barbie and didn't have a carrying case to carry all of their glamourous clothes and shoes and accesories around in. No Holly Hobbie and Rageddy-Ann were not as wild and carefree as Barbie and friends, but they were good ,pure and peaceful they were a part of my girl-hood.

I have a Holly Hobbie Secret Dolls house. I remember looking at it in the catalogue day after day, Santa knew this because he delivered me one for Christmas that year. I LOVED it! A month or so ago I unpacked some boxes that have been in my parent's attic for years-and there it was! I have two boys (2&3 years)who absolutely adore it & a little girl of 6 months who I know will love it as much as I did. I have a Heather doll & a Holly Hobbie rag doll too. I was interested to see other people had the secret dolls house as I never knew of anyone else who had one. I'm from England & none of my contemporaries have even heard of HH!

Oh my gosh, I have been searching the internet tirelessly for my childhood doll. After reading this page, I realize that it IS Holly Hobbie. I has the one whose eyes closed when you pulled her hair bow. I want to find one so I can buy it, but this is the only page I have found where anyone even knows what I am talking about. Someone please help point me in the right direction. Anyone know the exact name of the doll that closed her eyes? Was it a special edition? Thanks in advance!

I am looking for a Holly Hobbie Dollhouse Kit. I had to sell my daughters house in 1990 when we had to move to a much smaller house. I really want to rebuild it for her since she now has 2 daughters & misses her dollhouse. Please post a response if you have information on the maker of the kit or where I could start looking. Thank you so much!!!!!

I still have my Holly Hobbie Secret dollhouse too! I also got it from Santa, Christmas 1985. I had begged for it, the tv commercial for it had been on a lot leading up to Christmas. I also have never seen anyone else with one and now I can't find any images or old adds for it at all. A lot of the stickers have fallen off mine and I want to re-glue them, but I'm not sure where they go so I'd like a picture for comparison. Anyone see any?

I had what I'm pretty sure was a Holly Hobby doll (that's what I called her anyway) in a dark brown patchwork dress and bonnet in the late 70's. She was soft and about 30-40 cm tall. I have not been able to find her anywhere. She looked a lot like Heather from the Holly Hobby collection but definitiely had a dark brown dress. Does anyone know the doll I mean?

I had the holly hobbie dollhouse that had the green roof, the lithographed walls, it had an upstairs with the little plastic "brass" bed and printed quilt wit yellow pillow and a plastic brown trunk--downstairs the little kitchen area had a black plastic"victorian cast iron" stove that had removable burner lids and a cute little teapot with a little bread pan and pretend bread loaf--the little orangey yellowy brown plastic "victorian" chairs and round table were so cute! The other room next to the kitchen had the little plastic spindles "deacon's bench or settee with I think a green gingham cushion--oh and I also remebr a little black plastic "cast iron: frying pan for the kitchen--yes--I LOVED this house--it was mostly cardboard so it didnt survive my childhood but I still have all of the plastic furnishings that came with it---it was the precursor to a lifelong addiction to miniatures and dollhouses! I think my parents ordered it from the Sears wishbook christmas catalog---I too would LOVE to have this hose back--als...I have built a wooden dollhouse and papered it brightly to house my remaining collection of 6 inch dolls and furniture--I think I got it Christmas of 1978 or 1979

After reading some of these reminiscences of lovely days playing outdoors with Holly and Heather dolls, I feel homesick for my childhood! I never had a Holly Hobbie doll, but, I did have a similar rag doll who had many adventures with me. I am 37 now -- would I look TOO silly if I took that doll out for a tea party under a tree now? I DID have a few of the Holly Bobbie books, which I read over and over!

My sisters and I had a bedroom set of the pink and green Holly Hobbie set. I believe my mom purchased everything from sears. We had the bedspread the curtains, a hanging lamp kind of like the wicker ones but it had the same ruffled fabric over it, and we also had a round table with the sam fabric table cloth that reached to the floor. I loved that whole set and wish I could find it for my 6 year old grandgirls. It is very similar to Little house on the Prairie and they love it! I even had to find a "nightcap"for one and she actually sleeps with it on lol!
